FOUR STARS —ROLLING STONE

“Another knockout… incapable of releasing a bad record” —NEW YORK MAGAZINE

“it’s absolutely remarkable that, nine albums deep into their career, Spoon are still capable of something like this… they’re a truly remarkable beast.”—STEREOGUM

“Spoon at its best… a tremendous achievement… a masterpiece.”—TEXAS MONTHLY

“It’s really great. Of course it’s really great. This is what Spoon does… unyielding greatness”—UPROXX

Heralded by triumphant appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show with James Corden and a tidal wave of advance accolades, Spoon’s eagerly awaited ninth album Hot Thoughts finally sees its release today, March 17, 2017, on Matador Records.

To mark the occasion, Spoon just concluded a three-night release week SXSW residency at “The Main” rechristened “Eno’s” in honor of drummer Jim Eno, where the band curated and headlined an individualized line up each night March 14, 15 and 16. The unmistakable highlight of each evening was undoubtedly Spoon’s headline set, each receiving an ecstatic welcome befitting an international sensation returning to its hometown roots:

“They were treated like conquering heroes by the crowd, and deservedly so.”—AUSTIN CHRONICLE

“in top form… what the band does best while adding new colors in spots… a victory lap with friends and bands in the crucible that saw them become one of the best Austin bands ever.”—AUSTIN 360

“The best band I saw last night was Spoon!”—NPR

“an epic kick-off …one of the tightest, most well-executed acts in independent rock and roll”—PASTE

Spoon’s Hot Thoughts world tour continues next week with a pair of dates in Australia, after which Spoon will be bringing Hot Thoughts to the South with stops in Mobile, Tampa, Orlando, Charleston, Raleigh and more, marking the beginning of a rigorous year of touring for the band—one that will include an extensive UK/Europe trek as well as previously announced engagements from Panorama in NYC to the Hollywood Bowl in L.A.
