BLAQK AUDIO CEXCELLS DAVEY HAVOK/JADE PUGET PROJECT CONFIRMED FOR AUGUST 7 RELEASE

Davey Havok/Jade Puget Project Confirmed for August 7 Release

BLAQK AUDIO, the electronic side endeavor of AFI’s Jade Puget and Davey Havok, will finally see the light of day August 7 in the form of the debut album CexCells.

Recorded entirely by Havok and Puget and mixed by Dave Bascombe (Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Suede), CexCells expands upon and fully indulges the dark electronic textures that have influenced and pervaded the duo’s work for years. The results range from evocation of prime era Depeche Mode and early Ministry (“Stiff Kittens,” “Where Would You,” “Bitter For Sweet”) to four on the floor club-friendly
fare (“On A Friday,” “Snuff On Digital”) to vulnerable balladry (“Wake Up,” “The Fear”).

The common thread running through all of BLAQK AUDIO’s material-Havok’s signature dark vocal and lyrical stylings and Puget’s epic, emotional arrangements-will be instantly identifiable to AFI fans, despite the synthetic washes, keyboard flourishes and robotic beats supplanting the traditional guitar/bass/drum AFI framework.

There will be a BLAQK AUDIO tour in support of CexCells. Dates will be announced once confirmed.

FOO FIGHTERS ANNOUNCE 10TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE

SLATED FOR JULY 10 RELEASE, SPECIAL PACKAGE INCLUDES SIX BONUS TRACKS, NEW LINER NOTES

As strange as it may seem now, there was a time when Foo Fighters weren’t a household name. When they weren’t a staple of every rock playlist on the planet. And when Dave Grohl was a drummer with a knack for hooks, not the leading man of American rock and roll.

The release of The Colour And The Shape in May of 1997 changed all that. TCATS was the first Foo Fighters album recorded as a band: bassist Nate Mendel and guitarist Pat Smear had toured with Grohl following the 1995 release of Foo Fighters but hadn’t contributed to the recording of the debut album. Gil Norton (already legendary for his work with the Pixies, among others) elevated the TCATS sessions from the DIY approach of Foo Fighters, and the arrival of drummer Taylor Hawkins following the recording of the album completed the group’s evolution from “project” to “band”. Most important were the songs. “My Hero”, “Monkey Wrench”, “Everlong” – the album sequence reads like a Billboard recurrents chart. It was this parade of hits that put Foo Fighters on the path to becoming the Grammy-winning, festival-headlining, indiscriminate ass-kicking machine that we know today.

On July 10, Foo Fighters celebrate the tenth birthday of this landmark album with the release of a special anniversary edition featuring new liner notes along with previously unreleased extra tracks. Gil Norton took a break from production of the forthcoming new Foo Fighters album (yup, it’s true, more info coming soon) to help supervise the audio remastering of the disc, and the Foos are proud to present this glimpse at their, make that our, rock and roll past.

The complete sequence for the reissue edition is:

1. Doll
2. Monkey Wrench
3. Hey, Johnny Park!
4. My Poor Brain
5. Wind Up

6. Up In Arms
7. My Hero
8. See You
9. Enough Space
10. February Stars
11. Everlong
12. Walking After You
13. New Way Home

with bonus tracks:

14. Requiem (Killing Joke cover)
15. Drive Me Wild (single b-side)
16. Down In The Park (Gary Numan cover)
17. Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty cover)
18. Dear Lover (single b-side)
19. The Colour And The Shape (single b-side)

DAX RIGGS WE SING OF ONLY BLOOD OR LOVE JUNE 11-16 PRE-RELEASE DATES CONFIRMED

OUT AUGUST 21st ON FAT POSSUM
JUNE 11-16 PRE-RELEASE DATES CONFIRMED

“His low Delta howl is the pretty, pained yelp of a wounded swamp animal”–ROLLING STONE

“As if Jeff Buckley covered Ziggy Stardust on the banks of the Mississippi Delta”–ESQUIRE

We Sing of Only Blood or Love, the new album from Dax Riggs, has been confirmed for an August 21 release on Fat Possum. The 15-track record finds the Houma, Louisiana singer/songwriter who’d previously recorded under the deadboy & the Elephantmen guise (and long before that as a member of sludge metal pioneers Acid Bath) finally making his maiden voyage under his own name.

Written and recorded in the aftermath of extensive touring behind deadboy’s critically acclaimed We Are Night Sky-which received accolades ranging from a 4-star ROLLING STONE review to ELLE’s Best of the Month–We Sing of Only Blood or Love is as much the debut of an astonishing new musical voice as it is the culmination of a career and passion that’s consumed most of Dax’s young life.

We Sing of Only Blood or Love was conceived on Hallows Eve 2006, when Dax hooked up with the record’s producer and guitar player Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Prince Superwolf blah blah blah) for sessions that began at New Orleans’ Piety Studios and concluded at the Rare Book Room in Brooklyn. The record features an assortment of musicians including Dax’s latter-day deadboy tourmates Alex Bergeron (bass), Adam Clement (drums), Sean Keating (keys) and Lucas Broussard (backing vocals) as well as drummer Endless Andy (Endless Boogie, Brightblack Morning Light), additional guitar from T.K. Webb, J.T. Van Zandt and Bozo Cyclops, piano and keys from Endless Andy’s bro Robt. E. Lee, drums by Sweeney’s Chavez cohort James Lo and more…

As the material took on a singular life of its own, Dax announced via his myspace page that he would be laying the deadboy moniker to rest and releasing We Sing of Only Blood or Love under his own name, adding “I want to thank everyone who supported deadboy & the Elephantmen, it was and will always be more than just a band, it’s in my DNA.” That DNA runs deep through “Demon Tied To A Chair,” “Didn’t Know Yet” and “Radiation Blues,” but also pervades more passionate extremes on “Terrors of Nightlife” and “Ouroboros,” some serious glam rave-up to “Living is Suicide” and “I Forgot I Was Alive,” and a cover of Richard Thompson’s “Wall Of Death.”

Dax Riggs will be playing a handful of U.S. dates this June in advance of We Sing of Only Blood or Love‘s release. For further information, please contact Steve Martin or Amy Grote at nasty little man tel 212 343 0740 e-mail amy@nastylittleman.com

RAMMSTEIN VöLKERBALL MULTI-FORMAT LIVE DVD/CD TO SEE U.S. RELEASE LATE SUMMER 2007

RAMMSTEIN’s live DVD/CD extravaganza Völkerball has been confirmed for U.S. release late summer 2007 via Universal Music.

Völkerball, which translates literally as “People’s Ball,” is a multi-format audio/visual 5.1 package documenting the November 2004–July 2005 tour supporting the Reise, Reise tour that played to one million people across 21 different countries, every venue hosting an enormous castle laboratory set, a cool 140 tons of gear and transport and 63 crew members (plus local hands & drivers), including five on the pyro side alone!

Völkerball boasts the no-half-measures approach to art that Rammstein fans have come to expect since the six Berliners’ 1995 debut album Herzeleid, their 1998 worldwide breakthrough and first U.S. gold album Sehnsucht and subsequent efforts Mutter (2001), Reise, Reise (2004) and Rosenrot (2005). The collection is of particular interest to the U.S. fan, being that while nearly 40,000 turned out for these shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg alone (just to cite those cities as examples), the Reise, Reise tour never made it to U.S. shores.

Völkerball is therefore the first chance for the North American Rammstein fanatic to experience this once in a lifetime outing-and those fans are legion: Rammstein records typically exceed U.S. sales of 200,000 without supporting tour dates, while Entertainment Weekly recently profiled a Rammstein aficionado for their “Obsessive Fan of the Week” column. Völkerball offers said “obsessives” an entire concert from Nimes in Southern France, filmed in a Roman amphitheatre in front of 12,500 fans; selected footage from London, Tokyo and Moscow, plus two documentaries showing the musicians at their most candid & relaxed, making for an overall package that gives a never-before-seen insight into both Rammstein the band and Rammstein the people.

Völkerball will be available in the following formats:

Standard Edition: 2 disc set, available in a CD digi-pack (1 DVD, 140 minutes live video; 1 CD, 75 minutes live audio)

Special Edition: 3 disc set, available in a DVD digi-pack (1 DVD, 140 minutes live video; 1 DVD, 90 minutes of documentary footage, including Anakonda Im Netz (Anaconda In The Net) and Reise, Reise: The Making Of The Album; 1 CD, 75 minutes live audio)

Limited Edition: 190-Page Tour Photo Book, including all of the 3 disc content plus the complete audio to the live show (140 minutes): a prestige 4 disc set.

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN LIVE FROM SOHO EP OUT TODAY EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH iTunes U.S., UK, EUROPE FESTIVAL AND HEADLINE DATES CONTINUE JULY 9TH TOWER OF LONDON DATE ON SALE TODAY

The collaboration between Gorillaz/Blur founder Damon Albarn, former Clash bassist Paul Simonon, Verve guitarist Simon Tong and Fela Kuti/Africa 70 drummer Tony Allen first documented with the January 20 release of The Good, The Bad & The Queen continues with the release of an iTunes exclusive EP and a series of high profile festival and headline shows in the U.S., UK and Europe.

The Live From SoHo EP was recorded March 12 at the Apple Store in New York’s SoHo, documenting the first TGTBTQ performance in the U.S. The EP captures five tracks from the album that ROLLING STONE called “dark, muted balladry a la Syd Barrett or the Beatles’ White Album, with a touch of dub” augmented and embellished by Mike Smith (Keyboards), Isabelle Dunn (Cello), Antonia Pagulatos (Violin), Kotono Sato (Violin) and Stella Page (Viola).

In addition, a July 9th outdoor date at the Tower of London went on sale today, adding added to a spring/summer itinerary that already includes the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival (April 28), the Grand Ballroom in San Francisco (April 29) and festival dates throughout the summer in Spain, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland and Austria.

Of the band’s recent debut North American trek, during which The Good, The Bad & The Queen was performed in its entirety for capacity crowds in Toronto, New York, Washington DC, Austin and New Orleans, the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES observed “Judging on its own merits for what it is instead of what its members once did in different guises, it’s beautiful, powerful music made all the more effective live by a four-piece string section and the ability to watch Allen in action, playing deceptively simple but extraordinarily effective rhythms while hardly seeming to move at all.”
