Philip Selway has expanded his 2015 North American tour into the month of August and the country of Canada. As with previously announced headline engagements in New York, Seattle, Portland and San Francisco, Adem will appear as special guest on all non-festival shows.

The newly confirmed second leg of dates in support of Philip’s critically acclaimed sophomore album Weatherhouse (Bella Union) currently begins with Philip’s first two Canadian appearances as a solo artist–August 2 at the Osheaga Festival in Montreal and August 4 at Toronto’s Mod Club—and includes additional U.S. dates in Boston (Cambridge), Philadelphia and Washington DC.

Tickets for the newly announced headline dates go on sale March 27th at http://www.philipselway.com/tour-dates/.

Released in the fall of 2014, Weatherhouse was described by Stereogum as “a pop record with an artful touch that further develops his tender emotional spin on expansively moody sounds” and hailed by Rolling Stone as “a sweeping suite full of moody psychedelic arrangements.”

The album’s material, as well as songs from Philip’s solo debut Familial, will be brought to life for the first time on North American stages next month when Philip and his band of Adem Ilhan (backing Philip as well as opening the headline dates), Kath Mann (a/k/a Quinta) and Chris Vatalaro play four April headline shows as well as the two-weekend Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The North American run beginsApril 10 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City with an early evening performance: Doors will open at 6 pm, with Adem on stage at 7 pm and Philip on at 8 pm.

BLUR: “LONESOME STREET”

THIRD & FINAL PRE-RELEASE TRACK FROM THE MAGIC WHIP NOW AVAILABLE

THE MAGIC WHIP OUT APRIL 28 ON WARNER BROS

Blur_TheMagicWhipCover_HI
Lonesome Street,” the third and final track from blur’s new album The Magic Whip to be revealed to fans ahead of release, is available now.

The track follows Friday night’s packed secret show for 300 fans at Mode in West London which saw the band play The Magic Whip live and for the first time. For those who didn’t make it to the tiny club, the show was filmed for an exclusive stream on Beats by Dre’s YouTube channel on Wednesday 25th March at 8.00pm PST.

The Magic Whip is released on Warner Bros on April 28th 2015 and is blur’s first album in 16 years with the original four-piece line-up of Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree. The recordings, which began during a five-day break in touring in Spring 2013 – at Avon Studios in Kowloon, Hong Kong – were put aside when the group finished touring and returned to their respective lives. Last November Graham Coxon revisited the tracks and, drafting in blur’s early producer Stephen Street, he worked with the band on the material. Albarn then added lyrics and the 12 tracks of The Magic Whip are the result.

The Magic Whip will be available as a digital download, on CD and as a 2-disc vinyl set.

As the only act ever to play Hyde Park four times, blur will return to the historic London park for a headline show on Saturday 20th June 2015 as part of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.

BOOTS

“Haunting, futuristic… The stark, dystopian imagery matches perfectly with the new, Bowie-referencing songs…”—ROLLING STONE

“The music reveals his fondness for the melodic reach of the Beatles and David Bowie, for the abrupt sonic shifts of hip-hop and for the warped instrumental tones of Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead. The cryptic lyrics, with titles like ‘Mercy,’ ‘Suicide Games’ and ‘I Run Roulette,’ hint at scenarios of alienation, betrayal, technology gone wrong and global disaster… ‘Mercy,’ which warns, ‘Daggers in my eyes/Get that evil off my screen,’ makes its emotional arc in sound: from a quiet, open elegy to a distorted, claustrophobic attack.”—THE NEW YORK TIMES

“He comes with high praise… Much remains to be seen for the still mysterious musician and director, born Jordan Asher. For now, follow him through the desert, and get familiar with the Boots’ songs within.”—COMPLEX

“searing works of muscle and grit, pretty on the surface and fiery beneath their aluminum glint…  sounds like a victory.” – CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

Following an imaginatively staged and urgently played version of “I Run Roulette” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, BOOTS – who, according to Fallon, is an artist “sweeping the nation” – is now announcing his first-ever North American headline shows. The performances will take place at The Echo in Los Angeles, Popscene in San Francisco and New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. See below for a complete listing of dates and venues. Tickets are on sale Friday, March 20 at 12pm local time for all dates.

“I Run Roulette” is one of five songs that are heard throughout BOOTS’s recently released short filmMotorcycle Jesus. The 30-minute Motorcycle Jesus featurette can be viewed on YouTube. TheMotorcycle Jesus Original Soundtrack (out on Canvasback/Atlantic) is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.

PRINT YOUR VERY OWN 3D PAUL McCARTNEY

NEWS FROM PAULMcCARTNEY.COM HQ:

unnamed

We spend as much time as possible in our lab coats, stroking our chins and pacing the office thinking up new and fun things to do with Paul here at PaulMcCartney.com. Sometimes these ideas happen very quickly, and others can take several months, even years until the perfect opportunity presents itself.

One of the technologies we’ve been excited by in recent years is 3D printing, named by some as the ‘Third Industrial Revolution’. The thinking here is that in the coming years we will all begin to see 3D printed objects appearing in our daily lives creating items such as machine parts, bone and limb replacements, clothing and even food. It is no overstatement to say the possibilities are pretty much endless!

So as soon as we heard that Paul had been scanned in 3D for his innovative ‘Hope For The Future’ music video, we asked if we could get hold of the file.

From this scan of Paul we were able to turn him into a 3D printable figure.

We’re really excited to say the file is now available to any fan who wishes to try making their own!

If you’d like to get your own 3D Paul printed off, you have two options: either find a local or online printing company who can make it for you; or, if you have access to a 3D printer, you can try printing your own!

Here‘s a time-lapse video of the process.

If you’d like to make your own 3D Paul, download the .stl file of Paul by clicking HERE! [Please note, this file is around 50MB in size]

PHILIP SELWAY U.S. DATES TO FEATURE ADEM AS SPECIAL GUEST

Philip Selway has confirmed the addition of Adem as special guest for his upcoming dates in New York, Seattle, Portland and San Francisco.

A post-rock icon as half of Fridge and member of the Silver Columns, Adem has released three acclaimed nufolk/folktronica albums as a solo artist on the Domino label with a fourth on the way. Adem’s remix and production efforts have included work with artists as diverse as Sia, Explosions In The Sky, Underworld, Foals, and of course his work on Philip’s sophomore album, Weatherhouse.

Released in the fall of 2014, Weatherhouse was described by Stereogum as “a pop record with an artful touch that further develops his tender emotional spin on expansively moody sounds” and hailed by Rolling Stone as “a sweeping suite full of moody psychedelic arrangements.”

The album’s material, as well as songs from Philip’s solo debut Familial,  will be brought to life for the first time on U.S. stages next month when Philip and his band of Adem Ilhan (backing Philip as well as opening the headline dates), Kath Mann (a/k/a Quinta) and Chris Vatalaro play four American headline shows as well as the two-weekend Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The U.S. run begins April 10 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City with an early evening performance: Doors will open at 6 pm, with Adem on stage at 7 pm and Philip on at 8 pm.

THIRD MAN BOOKS ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH CONSORTIUM BOOK SALES & DISTRIBUTION

YCCkNjSsConsortium Book Sales & Distribution (Consortium), exclusive distributor of leading independent publishers and a member of the Perseus Books Group, is pleased to announce it reached a deal to distribute Third Man Books in the United States and Canada effective March 1, 2015.
Third Man Books is an extension both philosophically and literally of Third Man Records, founded by musician Jack White in 2001 in Nashville, Tennessee. The physical location opened in 2009 and quickly evolved from a music label into a complete in-house hub for art-making and dream-chasing. Third Man’s mission is to support the creation and distribution of any and every form of expression, from music to poetry, fiction to film. In this spirit, Third Man Books was established in 2014 to further explore the music of language.

“Third Man Books will continue in the manufacture and sale of beautiful things. Those things being books,” note co-founders Chet Weise and Ben Swank (also co-founder of Third Man Records). “Much like the identity of our multiple Grammy-winning record label, Third Man Books will be based on adventure, bordering on recklessness, yet bound by craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.” The press plans to print contemporary poetry, literary fiction, photography, biography, and more. With all TMB titles, there will be audio/video components and also craftsmanship to complement the work and love the author has paid to her/his words.

TMB’s first book was the ambitious Language Lessons, published last summer. A hardbound anthology comprised of three hundred pages of poetry and prose from notables ranging from Pulitzer and National Book Award finalists C.D. Wright, Adrian Matejka, and Dale Ray Phillips, to punk rock progenitors Richard Hell and Tav Falco, the collection also features two vinyl LPs of music and five frame-worthy broadsides. Upcoming Fall books include Hidden Water by Frank Stanford, a companion to Copper Canyon Press’ highly anticipated poetry collection, What About This. Described as “outtakes,”Hidden Water: From the Frank Stanford Archive includes a selection of unpublished poems and features facsimiles of drafts, letters, and artwork, plus a download of Stanford reading his poem “The Boathouse.” Both books will be the subject of a major feature in the May issue of Men’s Journal.

Another upcoming title is The Truth is We Are Perfect by Janaka Stucky, an ex-mortician, 2010 National Haiku Champion,  and “Boston’s Best Poet” (the Boston Phoenix). Stucky will be reading on multiple dates with bestselling author Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket). Also publishing in the Fall isPain: The Board Game by Sampson Starkweather. A book of poetry featuring a board game called “Pain,”Pain is dark, with touches of hysterical humor, and is modeled on the popular 1970s board game Life.

“While some may believe Third Man’s devil-may-care celebration of enduring artistry a recipe for twenty-first century disaster, Jack White, myself, and Chet Weise consider it natural,” affirms Ben Swank, co-founder, Third Man Records and Third Man Books. “Many thought Third Man Records’ dedication to the The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records Volume 1–2  project was borderline funny-farm, but we only saw it as necessary, and won a 2015 Grammy Award. The same ethos drives TMR’s involvement in the renaissance of vinyl records, which are now breaking sales records. Our hope is that Third Man Books creates a new kind of literary community that we can learn from and add something back. In Consortium we find a kindred, independent partner who has a far reach and gets the job done, and also answers the phone to say, ‘Hello, how are you.'”

Julie Schaper, president and COO of Consortium, comments: “I love the bridge Third Man is trying to create between records and books. We’ve often thought indie music fans overlap with indie fiction fans and Third Man Books is proving that notion true. I look forward to a long, fruitful partnership that generates lots of new ideas and creative collaboration.”

“It’s a great honor to welcome Third Man Books into the Perseus and Consortium family,” notes David Steinberger, president and CEO of the Perseus Books Group. “We, and the publishing industry, just got a lot hipper with their foray into the literary world. I am confident Consortium can offer the best springboard for Third Man to continue to surprise audiences and defy expectations.”

Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, home to a community of award-winning publishers, believes in the power of independent voices. We strive to share new ideas—some that may otherwise not be discovered—with the world.

Consortium—Where Independent Publishers Live

About Third Man Books
Multi-Grammy-winning musician Jack White, along with Ben Swank (co-founders of Third Man Records), and Chet Weise (co-founder, Third Man Books) all shared the stage in their respective rock bands in the not-so-distant past. With the August 2014 release of Third Man Books’ first literary publication, Language Lessons: Volume I, a multimedia box set of prose, poetry, and music, Third Man Books launched for the future. Echoing Third Man Records’ reverence for music and commitment to innovation, Third Man Books is dedicated to publishing the best in language with the same level of respect, skill, and audaciousness.
