Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: “Jubilee Street” New Video Directed by John Hillcoat

Directed by John Hillcoat

Featuring Ray Winstone

Push The Sky Away Out Feb 19th

“Seven minutes of craggy and lecherous slow-burning decadence, and it’s every bit as stickily badass as that description implies.”–STEREOGUM

“Classic Bad Seeds—morose lyrics that seemed ripped from a Victorian-era man’s shameful diary entries, a sinister string section and Cave’s intense, tormented delivery.”–PASTE

“If the rest of the new Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds record sounds like… the previously shared ‘We No Who U R‘ and the freshly uploaded ‘Jubilee Street’—it’s bound to become one of the band’s most sinister quiet storms.”–SELF-TITLED

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds reveal the video to “Jubilee Street”, the first single from the band’s fifteenth studio album Push The Sky Away to be released on February 19th on Bad Seed Ltd.

The video is directed by long time Bad Seeds collaborator John Hillcoat, and features Ray Winstone who stared in Nick Cave’s and John Hillcoat’s award winning kangaroo western The Proposition (2005). The video was shot on location in the East End of London in December 2012.

“It was a real pleasure hanging around the set and watching Ray do his thing. He is a master. What a great actor. And of course, working with my friend and collaborator John Hillcoat is always a blast”–Nick Cave

GIBBY HAYNES & THIRD MAN RECORDS WANT TO BE YOUR VALENTINE

THREE SONG 7-INCH OUT FEBRUARY 14

LIMITED EDITION RUN OF 100 “FLEX-RAY” COPIES AVAILABLE FROM THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE AT SXSW

Butthole Surfers legend Gibby Haynes, Jack White and Third Man’s Ben Swank want to be your valentine. So instead of something lame and predictable as flowers or chocolate, they’re comin’ a-callin’ with the latest installment in Third Man’s Blue Series (TMR 179), a three-song single featuring the two originals “You Don’t Have To Be Smart” and “Horse Named George,” and a cover of Adrenalin OD’s “Paul’s Not Home,” a lost classic (cough cough… ahem) that originally appeared on the 1982 New York Thrash compilation alongside the first ever recorded material by Beastie Boys and some of the earliest known recordings by Bad Brains, Kraut and others.

The limited edition component of this single will be another first for Third Man Records: a FLEX-RAY. A very limited number of copies of this single pressed on old medical x-rays will be sold exclusively from the Third Man Records Rolling Record Store at next month’s South By Southwest free for all in the Butthole Surfers’ old stomping ground of Austin.

Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition Featuring Two Never Before Released Songs Out April 9 on Sub Pop

Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello a/k/a The Postal Service have added nine worldwide headline dates to what now appears to be a full-on reunion tour–five that take place leading up to and around their previously announced April 13 and 20 Coachella appearances, two UK shows and one in Paris leading up to their performance at Barcelona’s Primavera Soundwave festival, and a long awaited return to New York where they’ll headline Brooklyn’s Barclay Center June 14.

Tickets for the newly announced dates are in sale now at http://bit.ly/PstlSrvc.

Gibbard and Tamborello will be reuniting on the road with a band fleshed out by Jenny Lewis (Jenny & Johnny, Rilo Kiley) and Laura Burhenn (Mynabirds, Bright Eyes) to celebrate the 10th anniversary and deluxe edition reissue of The Postal Service’s universally acclaimed release, Give Up.  The Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition out April 9 on Sub Pop includes the original 10-track album along with 15 bonus tracks–including the brand new songs “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String,” a previously unreleased live recording, and every other official recording the band has ever released–as well as cover versions of Postal Service classics by The Shins and Iron & Wine.

Both the tour and Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition find Lewis reuniting with The Postal Service: She appeared on the original album and played with the band on its handful of 2003 tour dates. Lewis also sings on the two new songs on the Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition.

Additional dates on this first Postal Service tour in a decade will be announced as they are confirmed. Check http://www.postalservicemusic.net/ for further details as they become available.

Give Up was certified platinum last year just shy of 10 years from its original February 9, 2003 release. Led by the single “Such Great Heights,” the landmark album is the second-biggest selling album in Sub Pop’s nearly 25-year history after Nirvana’s Bleach.

Give Up was certified platinum last year just shy of 10 years from its original February 9, 2003 release. Led by the single “Such Great Heights,” the landmark album peaked at #114 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and has sold 1,067, 087 copies in the US to date. After Nirvana’s BleachGive Up is the second-biggest selling album in Sub Pop’s nearly 25-year history.

Give Up, which Entertainment Weekly called a “near-perfect” album, is the first and only full-length by The Postal Service. The album received 2003 year-end praise from an array of publications, including SPINRolling Stone and theVillage Voice “Pazz & Jop” critics’ poll. Give Up also earned “Best of the Decade” status from Pitchfork, NPR, Complex,Paste, Under the Radar, and more.

Both Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello (as Dntel) recorded albums in 2012: Gibbard’s solo outing, Former Lives, was released via Barsuk Records last October; Dntel’s Aimlessness was released this past June on Pampa Records.

About The Postal Service:

You can spend all the time and money in the world trying to craft the perfect pop-music scenario, but sometimes the stars have to align all by themselves. Even though early on the members of The Postal Service jokingly referred to “Such Great Heights” as “the hit” on their debut album, Give Up, there’s no way anyone could have predicted the eventual impact made by a mail-order album designed in a pair of West Coast bedrooms. It’s been 10 years since the little project that could from Seattelite Ben Gibbard (also known as Death Cab For Cutie’s frontman) and Angeleno Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel, Figurine) emerged from seemingly nowhere and began to burrow its way into the ears of anyone who came into contact with the band’s infectious electro-pop (read more at Sub Pop).

ELECTRIC GUEST UNVEIL BRAND NEW VIDEO ON MTV

“THE BAIT” TO BE PERFORMED ON CONAN JANUARY 23RD

Electric Guest’s Asa Taccone’s quirky dance moves have always been a highlight of their videos like the epic “This Head I Hold”– not to mention the band’s frenetic live performances. Now, with their latest music video for single “The Bait”, Taccone takes his trademark moves to a whole new level. The video is an homage to Lars Von Trier’s film “Dogville” also inspired by the US’ 1929 financial crisis. Shot in Paris and directed by Jonas & Francois, “The Bait” sees a vagabond Taccone and his Electric Guestpartner drummer Matthew Compton in an intricate dance number choreographed by the French duo I Could Never Be A Dancer.

Point your browser here to view http://www.mtvu.com/music/electric-guest-goes-broadway-in-the-bait

Additionally, the video will air across all other MTV platforms including MTVU, MTV2 and MTV Hits throughout the day.

Enjoy the video? Be sure to tune in on January 23rd to watch the band performing “The Bait” during its Conan debut.

Electric Guest is comprised of Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton plus a supporting cast of live players. The band began in earnest when Asa’s brother introduced him via phone to Danger Mouse, sparking a musical relationship that developed organically into Danger Mouse producing the 10 songs that were unveiled to the world in April 2012 as Mondo. Since then Electric Guest has toured relentlessly, been hailed by MTV as an Artist to Watch, been nominated for an MTVu Woodie, and had its praises sung by ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY (“Winking falsetto and retro swagger… the best new micro-genre of the season”), FILTER (“infectious”), NYLON (“for a quick Friday night pump-up… turn up the volume”),  TIME OUT NEW YORK (“exquisitely catchy retropop. The band is quickly moving toward mainstream status… catch them while you can”), BLACKBOOK (“it’s rare that you come across an unknown band with such raw, unbridled talent and well-constructed songs… you’ll understand that this may be the beginning of something truly great”), MTV BUZZWORTHY (“Electric Guest stormed out of L.A. this year with a sound that’s both Motown classic and electro fresh on their debut album… Clear off your desk, you’re going to need some room to move.”) and scores more.
