We formed to learn to play The Eraser record, if you don’t know that, and discovered a really good energy doing that… and it fell into this record.

I’m still reeling from being on tour for much of the year but we are planning to get together and play etc next year ! We’re figuring all that out right now.

Atoms is a ongoing and open ended project, where it leads i know not for certain… which is what is nice about it.”

DAVE GROHL DIRECTORIAL DEBUT, FEATURE DOCUMENTARY SOUND CITY TO PREMIERE AT SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

(December 3, 2012, Los Angeles, CA) – Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Nirvana announced today that his directorial debut, the feature documentary film, SOUND CITY about the infamous recording studio in Van Nuys, California will have its premiere screening at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The film was conceived by Grohl after purchasing the legendary Neve 8028 recording console from Sound City Studios last year. The console, built in 1972, is considered by many to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment, having recorded such artists as Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Fear, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and countless other musical legends over the past 40 years.

Through interviews with the artists and producers that created decades of musical history at Sound City, the film showcases the amazing history of the studio, focuses on the albums recorded there that went on to change the world, then explores the human element of music in an age of technology, and features performances of new music created exclusively for the film.

Grohl’s personal connection to Sound City began with the 1991 recording of Nirvana’s breakthrough album, “Nevermind”. Selling over 30 million copies worldwide, “Nevermind” changed the entire musical landscape and forever altered the course of Dave Grohl’s life.

Roswell Films, a division of the Roswell Records label that releases Foo Fighters music, will distribute the film. Key personnel involved with the film include Producer/Director Dave Grohl; Editor Paul Crowder (Dogtown & Z Boys, Once In a Lifetime, Riding Giants); and Writer Mark Monroe (The Cove, Once In a Lifetime, The Tillman Story). The film is also being produced in conjunction with Jim Rota, John Ramsay, and Therapy studios.

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS: NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES CONFIRMED

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds have confirmed details of an upcoming North American tour in support of Push the Sky Away, the fifteenth studio album by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, to be released in February 19, 2013 by Bad Seed Ltd. on CD, vinyl, digital download and as a deluxe edition.

Sharon Van Etten will support for the duration of the tour, which commences March 14 in Dallas and currently runs through April 3 in Denver. Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Thursday, December 6th at 10am local time. The announcement of the tour coincides with the unveiling of Push The Sky Away opening track, “We No Who U R.” the first track to be released from Push the Sky Away.  At the heart of Push the Sky Away is a naturalism and warmth that makes it the most subtly beautiful of all the Bad Seeds albums. The contemporary settings of myths, and the cultural references that have time-stamped Nick’s songs of the twenty-first century mist lightly through details drawn from the life he observed around his seaside home, through the tall windows on the album’s mysterious and ambiguous cover.

The songs on this album took form in a modest notebook with shellac covers over the course of almost a year. The notebook is a treasured analogue artefact but the internet is equally important to Nick: Googling curiosities, being entranced by exotic Wikipedia entries “whether they’re true or not”. These songs convey how on the internet profoundly significant events, momentary fads and mystically-tinged absurdities sit side-by-side and question how we might recognize and assign weight to what’s genuinely important.

Push the Sky Away was produced by Nick Launay and recorded at La Fabrique, a recording studio based in a 19th Century mansion in the South of France, where the walls of the main studio are lined with an immense collection of classical vinyl.

“We No Who U R” sets this album in our time; we’re living with the consequences of actions and innovations that seemed so progressive in the industrial era. There’s a calm assessment of the gravity of the situation, and humility. This whole album has a generosity of spirit that’s established here by a children’s choir singing “we know there’s no need to forgive.”

PAUL McCARTNEY RELEASES KISSES ON THE BOTTOM – COMPLETE KISSES EXCLUSIVELY ON THE iTUNES STORE IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS

November 27th, 2012 – Paul McCartney announces a very special Christmas treat for fans with the release of Kisses on the Bottom – Complete Kisses exclusively available on the iTunes Store (Hear Music/Concord Music Group) today.

The album will feature all of McCartney’s hugely acclaimed 2012 album Kisses on the Bottom alongside the entire Live From Capitol Studios concert performance and four bonus tracks including a special festive recording of “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)”, which Paul recorded at Avatar Studios in New York in September. The album will also feature a previously unreleased version of “My Valentine (Johnny Mandel original arrangement)” alongside the tracks “Baby’s Request” and “My One And Only Love”.

Kisses on the Bottom was previously released in February of this year to global critical acclaim and chart success. Recorded with the aid of Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma and Diana Krall and her band, it is a collection of standards plus two brand new McCartney songs “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts” which feature guest appearances from Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder respectively. The album topped the Billboard Jazz Charts upon its release and has remained in the chart for 40 weeks. It also reached the Top 5 of the UK Albums Chart, Paul’s highest UK chart position in 15 years, and charted Top 5 all around the world.

Paul celebrated the album’s release with Live From Capitol Studios, a very special and intimate concert at the legendary studios in February which was the first and only time that multiple tracks from Kisses On The Bottom have been performed live. The stunning and unique show saw Paul reunited with the cast of all-star musicians who had joined him on the record as he performed behind the microphone without either his famous Höfner bass or any other instruments in hand. This magical once-in-a-lifetime performance is now included on the iTunes release Kisses On The Bottom – Complete Kisses.

–       Live From Capitol Studios was performed just hours after Paul brought LA’s Vine Street to a standstill as he was presented with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the Capitol Records Building.

–       The night of the concert (February 9th) was the 48th anniversary of The Beatles’ U.S. TV debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.

–       The week of the live show in LA saw Paul perform twice at the Grammys and pick up one of the prestigious awards himself, closing the show with a superstar jam alongside Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen. He was also honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year at a gala featuring Coldplay, Neil Young, Katy Perry and Foo Fighters performing their favorite McCartney tracks.

On this album it’s not always apparent what instruments the band is playing: they may be traditional musical instruments but other sounds are clearly generated by objects unrelated to musical instruments. What’s being created is a collective musical language that’s rich and complex.

Push the Sky Away has a clarity and sweet strangeness that’s built upon the refusal to accept limitations, whether they be the traditional uses and sounds of musical instruments, lyric styles, or diminished spiritual horizons.

And for the first time anywhere, the world’s oldest burlesque dancer Tempest Storm will make her TMR debut with the Tempest Storm Green Series (TMR 129) single–released in an unprecedented new format: a picture disc when coupled with some household items (flashlight, drinking glass) and not-so-household items (magical Bolt-a-Trope disc… provided!) turns into a quick keyhole peek-a-boo glimpse at the wonderful Miss Storm performing her patented tease. The zoetrope effect truly needs to be seen to be believed.

Today also marks the debut of a Divine Fits profile at TheCreatorsProject.com. Packed with engaging interviews, anecdotes and live footage, the 5-minute-and-change mini-doc recounts the tale of Britt Daniel, Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown coming together, discovering their chemistry and locking into the groove that resulted in this year’s insanely acclaimed A Thing Called Divine Fits (Merge) and an addictively enjoyable and ongoing tour. And speaking of live shows, the Divine Fits in the flesh experience that recently moved Time Out Chicago to rave “Every inch the exception to the myth of the bloated supergroup, the Fits proved to be a perfect mix of the two frontmen’s strengths… the group powered through their set to roaring response from the crowd with more than enough firepower to warrant a higher-profile return trip to Chicago in the near future” has extended its live agenda through early 2013. Launched in 2010, The Creators Project is an ongoing global initiative by VICE and Intel dedicated to supporting artists in realizing their creative visions through technology. The project includes an online community and video channel, TheCreatorsProject.com, as well as an official YouTube Channel, youtube.com/thecreatorsproject, a content creation studio, and a global event series.

To date, there are more than 150 Creators involved, hailing mostly from seven countries (United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Brazil, South Korea and China) along with other artists from around the world. Bob Mould has launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of bringing the now legendary See A Little Light: A Celebration of the Music and Legacy of Bob Mould all-star tribute concert to an audience beyond the lucky 2300 attendees who made it into Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall on November 21, 2011.

Metric has teamed with Tumblr to unveil the video for “Breathing Underwater,” the latest single from its acclaimed Synthetica (Metric Music International/mom+pop), at http://tumblr.ilovemetric.com

The world premiere of “Breathing Underwater” is accompanied by a SoundCloud set featuring three versions of the song: the original album version of the song, theSynthetica Reflections version, and an acoustic version.

The acoustic “Breathing Underwater” will be the first taste of the five extra songs onSynthetica Deluxe, being released digitally November 20 and physically December 4. The other all-acoustic bonus tracks are versions of “Youth Without Youth” and the album’s title track plus “Gimme Sympathy” from the band’s previous Fantasies and a rarely heard cover of Tom Waits’ “Strange Weather.”

Finally December will mark both Metric’s being named VH1 “You Oughta Know” artist of the month and the band’s final run of dates for 2012. Having slain crowds of all sizes from intimate club shows preceding Synthetica’s release to triumphant main stage sets at the likes of Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits to headline appearances at such revered venues as Radio City Music Hall and the Greek Theater, Metric will follow up its current arena tour of Canada with the dates listed below.
