BEASTIE BOYS HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 2 TRACK LISTING REVISED, REPLACED ENTIRELY WITH SONGS ORIGINALLY RECORDED FOR HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 1

In what can only be described as a bizarre coincidence, following an exhaustive re-sequence marathon, Beastie Boys have verified that their new Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 will be comprised of the same 16 tracks originally slated for inclusion on Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.

The record (part 2 that is) will be released as planned in spring 2011 on Capitol.

The tracks originally recorded for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (which now are actually back on Part 1) have now apparently been bumped to make room for the former Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 material. Wait, what?

“I know it’s weird and confusing, but at least we can say unequivocally that Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is coming out on time, which is more than I can say about Part 1, and really is all that matters in the end.” says Adam “MCA” Yauch. “We just kept working and working on various sequences for part 2, and after a year and half of spending days on end in the sequencing room trying out every possible combination, it finally became clear that this was the only way to make it work. Strange but true, the final sequence for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 works best with all its songs replaced by the 16 tracks we originally had lined up in pretty much the same order we had them in for Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. So we’ve come full circle.”

Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 marks Yauch, Mike “Mike D” Diamond, and Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz’s first full length effort since 2007’s Grammy winning all-instrumental The Mix-Up. The new track listing of the album is now as follows:

1. Tadlock’s Glasses
2. B-Boys In The Cut
3. Make Some Noise
4. Nonstop Disco Powerpack
5. OK
6. Too Many Rappers (featuring NAS)
7. Say It
8. The Bill Harper Collection
9. Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win (featuring Santigold)
10. Long Burn The Fire
11. Funky Donkey
12. Lee Majors Come Again
13. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament
14. Pop Your Balloon
15. Crazy Ass Shit
16. Here’s A Little Something For Ya

Recently nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Beastie Boys are the single longest lived hip-hop act to continue to enjoy commercial and critical success. Formed in 1981, Beastie Boys first changed the course of popular music when their 1986 debut album Licensed To Ill became the first hip hop record to reach #1. Since then, Diamond, Horovitz and Yauch have amassed 40 million in record sales of a critically acclaimed canon including 1989’s landmark Paul’s Boutique, 1992’s Check Your Head, the #1-debuting trifecta of 1994’s Ill Communication, 1998’s Hello Nasty and 2004’s To The 5 Boroughs, and 2007’s The Mix-Up. Beastie Boys’ innovative videos earned them MTV’s Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award in 1998, while a Madison Square Garden show shot by 50 audience members was painstakingly edited into AWESOME; I F—-N’ SHOT THAT!, which debuted at Sundance in 2006. The band has also been lauded for its humanitarian efforts, ranging from organizing the Tibetan Freedom Concert series which drew attention to the Chinese government’s human rights violations in Tibet, to the New Yorkers Against Violence benefits, whose proceeds went to organizations chosen for their efforts on behalf of September 11th victims least likely to receive help elsewhere.

The exact release date of Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 and touring plans will be announced once details are available

In a turn of events too profound to be coincidence, the release of Band of Horses’ cover of Cee Lo’s “Georgia” featuring the University of George Redcoat Marching Band has apparently become the victory anthem for the Georgia Bulldogs, as they beat the Tennessee Vols 41 to 14 on Saturday October 9, ending a four-game losing streak.

The following day, Band of Horses closed a triumphant performance at the Austin City Limits with a live performance of “Georgia.” Augmented by a horn section featuring Trombone Shorty and members of his Orleans Avenue band as well members of Black Joe Louis and the Honeybears and the Polyphonic Spree, Band of Horses ushered in the sunset with a riveting performance of the track.

Inspired by Cee Lo’s viral smash cover of their “No One’s Gonna Love You,” Band of Horses recently teamed with the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band for their own unique take on “Georgia,” the recently leaked track from Cee Lo’s forthcoming Lady Killer album. Produced by the band’s own Bill Reynolds, “Georgia” premiered October 7  on the University of Georgia station WUOG, and was released that day as a double A-side 7-inch with Cee Lo’s rendition of “No One’s Gonna Love You,” digital download, and various other configurations available now at Bandofhorses.com/Georgia

On another Georgia-related note, Band of Horses current U.S tour will wind down October 30 at Atlanta’s Fox Theater. The tour, which has featured landmark gigs including a sold out Sept. 25 headline stand at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater and a standout first ever appearance at Farm Aid that moved the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel to comment “Band of Horses shifted into blistering passages of noisy beauty that, against the prettiness, illuminated the music like sudden meteor storms blazing through a cloudless sky. The crowd certainly ooh-ed and aah-ed like starry-night spectators.”

The tour’s finale’ will be preceded by an Oct. 29 homecoming gala at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center in Charleston SC, a portion of proceeds from which–as well as from the Oct. 28 date at Asheville NC’s Thomas Wolfe Auditorium–will benefit local chapters of the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and the Charleston Waterkeeper, whose mission is to preserve and protect the integrity of Charleston’s waterways by defending them from pollution and contamination.

The fall Band of Horses dates are the latest in support of the band’s third album, Infinite Arms, which recently landed at #16 on NPR’s “Listeners Pick 2010’s Best Music (So Far)” online poll. Band of Horses is Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. Infinite Arms marks the recorded debut of long time touring members Ramsey and Reynolds, while Barrett and Monroe graced the band’s last album, Cease to Begin (which featured the original “No One’s Gonna Love You”). Through touring together in support of Cease to Begin and during breaks in the Infinite Arms recording process, the band have become a cohesive force with all members making invaluable contributions to the unmistakable sound that founder Bridwell has crafted since the band’s inception.

Prior to “Georgia,” the latest addition to Band of Horses’ acclaimed discography arrived recently in the form of “Life On Earth” available exclusively on the new Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, joining Infinite Arms, 2007’s Cease To Begin, the band’s 2006 debut album Everything All The Time, and a self-titled, self-released EP in 2005.

BAND OF HORSES AND THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA REDCOAT MARCHING BAND RELEASE “GEORGIA” SINGLE

COVER OF CEE LO TRACK INSPIRED BY CEE LO’S COVER OF BAND OF HORSES’ “NO ONE’S GONNA LOVE YOU”

Available Now at Bandofhorses.com/Georgia

Inspired by Cee Lo’s viral smash cover of their “No One’s Gonna Love You,” Band of Horses have teamed with the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band for their own unique take on “Georgia,” the recently leaked track from Cee Lo’s forthcoming Lady Killer album.

Having just premiered “Georgia”  on the University of Georgia station WUOG, Band of Horses are now releasing the song as a double A-side 7-inch with Cee Lo’s rendition of “No One’s Gonna Love You,” available now at Bandofhorses.com/Georgia.

Bandofhorses.com/Georgia is offering an exclusive preorder bundle including the Band of Horses/Cee Lo 7-inch, a limited edition T-shirt featuring “Georgia”-specific artwork and the digital single of “Georgia.” The T-shirt and 7-inch can be purchased separately, and the 7 inch purchase comes with an instant grat download of both tracks.

Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses recalls the genesis of the “Georgia” single: “This began as a very random idea I had on my dad’s patio after we watched our beloved Georgia Bulldog football team get robbed of a win at the hands of the referees and LSU last year. I knew I wanted to pay homage to my favorite team in song but didn’t have any idea how to begin. Once I heard Cee Lo’s ‘Georgia,’ I was immediately smitten and figured that’s as good as any tribute to any state I’ve ever heard. It wasn’t until I heard his cover of our song though that it occurred to me: Duh, we should return the favor. Incorporating the Redcoat marching band was just the icing on the cake! This song is so nostalgic to me as my parents grew up in Atlanta and have so many family members in the great state of Georgia. It’s always been a second home of sorts. We’ve played some great shows there as well, including our run of annual New Years Eve shows in Atlanta from 2007-2009.”

BEASTIE BOYS NOMINATED FOR ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

Beastie Boys have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, it was announced today.

Formed 1981 in New York City, Beastie Boys are arguably the single longest lived hip-hop act to consistently enjoy commercial and critical success both on record and as an international live attraction. Beastie Boys first changed the course of popular music when their 1986 debut album Licensed To Ill was the first hip hop record to reach #1. Since then, Mike “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “MCA” Yauch, and Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz have logged 40 million in record sales, three Grammy awards, the MTV Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award, four #1 albums, and countless sold out world tours, magazine covers and TV appearances.

Beastie Boys’ musical history is as rich as it is varied: By 1982, the band was releasing the Pollywog Stew EP and playing its first public gigs opening for the likes of Bad Brains at storied NYC venues including CBGB, A7 and Max’s Kansas City. The current Mike D/MCA/Adrock Beastie Boys lineup debuted in 1983 with the “Cooky Puss” 12”, after which the band first hooked up with Rick Rubin for 1984’s “Rock Hard”/”Beastie Groove” 12,” the second ever record released by Def Jam. The next year saw the release of a few more Def Jam 12”s as the band supporting Madonna on the entire North American Virgin Tour.

Licensed To Ill dropped in fall 1986. Fueled by “Fight For Your Right,” “No Sleep Til Brooklyn,” “Brass Monkey” and more it remained at #1 for seven weeks and simultaneously reached #2 on the urban chart, becoming the fastest selling debut to date for Columbia and the first hip hop record to break 5 million sales.

1989’s landmark Paul’s Boutique saw Beastie Boys resurface with a new deal (Capitol), a new home (Los Angeles) and a kaleidoscopic new array of sounds.  Produced by Beastie Boys and the Dust Brothers, Paul’s Boutique laid down the blueprint for a generation of emergent genres.  “Shake Your Rump,” “Lookin’ Down The Barrel Of A Gun,” “Car Thief,” Shadrach,” and the hip hop “suite” “B-Boy Bouillabaisse” elevated Beastie Boys to a new level of critical respect: thumbs up from Robert Christgau, four stars from Rolling Stone, and various accolades hailing it as the “Pet Sounds or Dark Side Of The Moon of Hip Hop.”

Check Your Head, released in 1992, heralded the return of live instrumentation into the B Boys mix, with Mike D on drums, Yauch on bass and Adrock on guitar. Produced by the band and Mario Caldato Jr. and recorded at Beastie Boys’ own G-Son studios, Check Your Head would yield new B Boys staples including “So Whatcha’ Want,” “Pass The Mic,” “Gratitude” and “Jimmy James.”  With the assistance of Keyboard Money Mark, Beastie Boys returned to the touring circuit and Check Your Head hit double platinum.

In the summer of 1994, Ill Communication, also produced by the band and Mario Caldato Jr., entered the charts at #1 as the album’s first video, “Sabotage,” directed by Spike Jonze, became an instant classic. Royalties from two songs on Ill Communication were donated to found the Milarepa Fund, which staged the Tibetan Freedom Concert series. Drawing crowds well into the hundreds of thousands and featuring performances from U2, Radiohead, Beck, Bjork, Patti Smith, Fugees, Joe Strummer, Pearl Jam, John Lee Hooker, Foo Fighters, R.E.M., A Tribe Called Quest, Yoko Ono, Sonic Youth and many more, the Tibetan Freedom Concerts would rank among the most significant benefit concerts of the ‘90s. Meanwhile, Ill Communication was  supported by Beastie Boys’ first arena headline tour since the ’80s: The Quadraphonic Joystick Action tour, which sold out NYC’s Madison Square Garden and Chicago’s Rosemont Horizon in half an hour each, Massachusetts’ Worcester Centrum in approximately 20 minutes, and Detroit’s Cobo Arena in nine.  One dollar from each ticket sold on the tour was donated through Milarepa to local charities in each city on the tour.

Hello Nasty was released July 1998 and, spurred by the monster success of “Intergalactic,” clocked first week sales of nearly 700,000 in the U.S. and debuted at #1 in England, Germany, Australia, Holland, New Zealand and Sweden, #2 in Canada and Japan, and Top 10 in Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, France and Israel. That same month, Beastie Boys’ 360-degree In The Round tour would be unveiled, its turntable stage set offering unobstructed sightlines from every seat, while a specially designed circular P.A. gave new dimension to the term “Surround Sound.” Beastie Boys rounded out 1998 by accepting the Video Vanguard honor at the MTV Video Music Awards, and rang in 1999 with Artist, Band and/or Record of the Year accolades from Rolling Stone, SPIN, The New Yorker and Playboy, among others. A month later, at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, the quadruple-platinum Hello Nasty took Best Alternative Music Performance, while “Intergalactic,” nailed Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group–the first time an artist would win in both Rap and Alternative categories.

In the wake of September 11, 2001 the Beastie Boys-headlined New Yorkers Against Violence benefit was staged October 28 & 29 at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom, with proceeds disbursed to the New York Women’s Foundation Disaster Relief Fund and the New York Association for New Americans (NYANA) September 11th Fund for New Americans–both chosen for their efforts on behalf of those affected by the September 11th attacks least likely to receive help from other sources. The NYAV line-up included the Strokes, the B-52’s, Mos Def, N*E*R*D, the Roots, Afrika Bambaata, a surprise two-song set by Moby and Michael Stipe (featuring an impromptu cameo by Bono), and more. Not long after, Beastie Boys added their voice to the growing protest against America’s imminent course toward war,  offering the track “In A World Gone Mad” as a free download on Beastieboys.com, moveon.org, winwithoutwarUS.org, MTV.com, and milarepa.org.

Beastie Boys’ sixth studio album, To The 5 Boroughs, released in summer 2004, was the band’s third consecutive #1 debut-and Rolling Stone’s only 5-star review of that year. To The 5 Boroughs was supported by the Challah At Your Boy traveling pageant–which climaxed with a sold-out October 9 homecoming at Madison Square Garden, at which cameras were distributed to 50 audience members, whose efforts (and herculean editing sessions) spawned the feature-length AWESOME; I F—-N’ SHOT THAT!, which debuted at Sundance in early 2006 and was released theatrically the same year.

With 2007’s Grammy winning all-instrumental The Mix-Up, Beastie Boys threw fans a curveball reminder of the one constant throughout the band’s 29-year-and-counting career: reinvention. The Mix-Up featured Diamond, Horovitz and Yauch back on drums, guitar and bass, with Keyboard Money Mark and percussionist Alfredo Ortiz, on Beastie Boys’ first ever full length offering of all-new, all-original instrumental recordings. Reminiscent of the cult hit The In Sound From Way Out! which compiled Check Your Head/Ill Communication era instrumentals, The Mix-Up found NYC’s favorite sons drawing on one of their arsenal’s primary strengths and pushing it into bold new directions.

Since then, Beastie Boys have recorded and prepped for release their long awaited eighth all new studio opus, Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. Following a headlining set at 2009’s Bonnaroo festival during which the record’s “Too Many Rappers” was premiered live with guest star Nas, the record’s release was unexpectedly delayed by Yauch’s surgery and treatment for parotid gland cancer. Like the record, the band’s sold out debut headlining stand at the Hollywood Bowl had to be postponed, as did appearances atop the 2009 Lollapalooza and All Points West festivals. It is the most sincere hope of all in the B Boys camp that Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, which features soon to be classics “B-Boys In The Cut,” “Make Some Noise,” “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win (featuring Santigold)” and more, will be released in 2011.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ballots are sent to more than 500 voters, who will select those to be inducted at the 26th Annual Induction Ceremony. To be eligible for nomination, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.  The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in December 2010 and the Ceremony will take place on March 14, 2011 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, and will be televised live on Fuse. All inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland OH, the nonprofit organization that exists to educate its audiences on the global impact of the rock and roll art form via the museum, as well as its education programs and library and archives.

The deluxe edition also includes a special Band on the Run audio documentary (originally produced for the 25th Anniversary edition.)  The original remastered album and bonus audio content will also be issued in a 2 disc 180gm audiophile vinyl edition that comes with an MP3 download of all 18 tracks. Lastly, the standard and deluxe versions of Band on the Run will be available digitally worldwide.

The musical achievement of Band on the Run is nearly matched by the amazing story behind its creation. Intrigued with recording abroad in the summer of 1973, McCartney searched for a list of studios around the world.  Spotting one in the remote location of Lagos, Nigeria, he became enthralled with the idea of recording in Africa. Days before departure, lead guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Seiwell quit the band leaving the entire project to the three core members, Paul, his wife Linda McCartney and band-member Denny Laine (along with recording engineer Geoff Emerick). Recorded in August and September of 1973 (with further work done at AIR Studios in London in October 1973), they persevered through a tumultuous, yet creatively invigorating 2 month recording process battling difficult studio conditions, oppressive heat and a dangerous mugging at knife point. The thieves made off with the demo tapes (among other valuables), forcing the band to record the entire album from memory.

Band on the Run triumphed both critically and commercially.  The album topped the US album chart 3 separate times, won a Grammy and went on to sell more than 7 million copies.  Upon the release of Band on the Run, then Rolling Stone reviewer Jon Landau famously gushed, “The finest record yet released by any of the four musicians who were once called The Beatles.”

Paul is currently playing five songs from the album on his ‘Up and Coming Tour’.  Live favorites over the last 8 years of touring have included “Jet”, “Band on the Run” and “Let Me Roll It”.  In 2008 when Paul played a free outdoor show to over 500,000 people in Kiev, a Ukrainian poll listed “Mrs Vandebilt” as their all time favorite Paul McCartney song. It’s been included in the set ever since.  At the start of this tour Paul added “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five” to the set.

Band on the Run marks the first release from the Paul McCartney Archive Collection, an ambitious reissue program that encompasses 40 years of cherished, classic material from the most successful songwriter and recording artist in music history. It’s also the initial physical release of the recently announced agreement between McCartney’s MPL and Concord Music Group to globally market and distribute McCartney’s venerated solo and Wings catalog.
