“The great and deeply underrated Beasties-affiliated ’90s funk-pop crew, are back together, and they still have this unfakeable New York cool.”–STEREOGUM

“NYC funk-pop luminaries Luscious Jackson return with a vengeance now with ‘Show Us What You Got,’ a concise, highly torqued, instantly clap-along-able tune to which one can squeeze the last precious drops of summer. It’s a perfect combo of punchy, swerving rock and nimble electro. I’ve played it 11 times already and haven’t even begun to tire of it.”–THE STRANGER

Having recently confirmed the November 5 release of Magic Hour, their first album 14 years, Jill Cunniff, Gabrielle Glaser and Kate Schellenbach, collectively known as Luscious Jackson, now announce their first live shows in over a decade: November 23 at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer and December 7 at Webster Hall in their native New York City.

Tickets are on sale now at:

Produced by Jill and Gabby (with an assist from old friend Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz on the track “So Rock On”) and released on the band’s own City Song imprint, Magic Hour is preceded by the track “Show Us What You Got,” now the subject of a video directed by longtime friend of the band and Breeders bassist Josephine Wiggs. Luscious Jackson’s unique and streetwise blend of punk, funk, and the various musical and cultural styles of its native NYC emerged via Beastie Boys’ Grand Royal label with the 1992 Village VoicePazz & Jop Best EP winner In Search Of Manny. Debut album Natural Ingredients was released on Grand Royal/Capitol in 1994, as the band embarked on that year’s Lollapalooza tour as well as an arena tour with R.E.M, saw the record’s single “Here” featured in the film and soundtrack Clueless, and appeared on Saturday Night Live. Produced by Daniel Lanois, Luscious Jackson’s sophomore album Fever In Fever Out dropped in 1996. Featuring the smash hit “Naked Eye,” it went gold and established the band as a household name everywhere from Gap ads to Jeopardy! questions. Keyboardist Vivian Trimble left the band following the conclusion of a world tour supporting Fever…making album number three, 1999’s Electric Honey (featuring the single “Ladyfingers” and its Tamra Davis-directed video), the band’s first as a trio and last before they called it a day in 2000. The hiatus was first broken in 2006, but it wasn’t until early 2012 that http://www.pledgemusic.com/artists/lusciousjackson went live and the first music from the forthcoming record was unveiled in the form of the track “Are You Ready?”

Additional live dates, updates, etc. will be announced as they are confirmed. For further information, stay tuned to:

Jill Cunniff, Gabrielle Glaser and Kate Schellenbach, collectively known as Luscious Jackson, will return on November 5 with Magic Hour.

Produced by Jill and Gabby (with an assist from old friend Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz on the track “So Rock On”) and released on the band’s own City Song imprint, Magic Hour is Luscious Jackson’s fourth album and first full-length offering of new material since 1999’s Electric Honey.

“When we were making the new album,” Jill commented, “we felt like we did when we were making our first demos. We were just smiling and laughing all the time because we rediscovered a musical connection we all really loved and missed.”

Reports of Luscious Jackson’s reunion and the forthcoming album were confirmed when the band decided to gauge public demand for a new record by partnering with PledgeMusic.com–offering fans the opportunity to fund the sessions via pledges ranging from a basic $10 album download to a $10,000 house concert. Response was fast and furious, with pledges surpassing 100% of the band’s goal within 48 hours. Pledges are still being accepted for remaining packages at http://www.pledgemusic.com/artists/lusciousjackson.

In addition to the album announcement, the band has also shared their new song, “Show Us What You Got,” at www.youtube.com/embed/XGtHTsbxEfw.

NIRVANA: IN UTERO 20TH ANNIVERSARY MULTI-FORMAT REISSUE OUT SEPTEMBER 24

FULL TRACKLISTING REVEALED INCLUDING REMASTERED ALBUM, NEW 2013 MIX, RECENTLY UNEARTHED “FORGOTTEN TUNE,” ORIGINAL NEVER-BEFORE-HEARD “HEART-SHAPED BOX” AND “ALL APOLOGIES” MIXES, 1990 “MARIGOLD” DEMO, “LIVE AND LOUD” CONCERT FROM DECEMBER 13, 1993 (ALSO AVAILABLE AS A STANDALONE DVD) & MUCH MUCH MORE

To say that Nirvana”s third and ultimately final studio album In Utero was 1993″s most polarizing record would be the understatement of a decade. The unadorned sonic rawness of Steve Albini”s recording laid bare every primal nuance of the most confrontational yet vulnerable material Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl would ever record. And with its 1991 predecessor Nevermindhaving sold some 30 million copies, singlehandedly returning honest rock “n” roll to the top of the pop charts, In Utero was essentially the first record Nirvana would make with any expectations from the public.  So from the opening quasi-shamble melodics of “Serve The Servants” through the bittersweet closing strains of “All Apologies,” In Utero was the sound of the most incredible yet conflicted rock “n” roll band of the era at the peak of its powers coming to terms with a generational spokes-band mantle they”d never seen coming-and ultimately surmounting these struggles to make the record they needed to make. As Rolling Stone“s David Fricke said in his review at the time, “In Utero is a lot of things-brilliant, corrosive, enraged and thoughtful, most of them all at once. But more than anything, it”s a triumph of the will.”

Universal Music Enterprises will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the unwitting swansong of the single most influential artist of the 1990s with a multi-format release that spreads more than 70 remastered, remixed, rare, unreleased and live recordings over configurations ranging from a 3-CD/1-DVD Super Deluxe Edition to a standard digital/CD remaster of the original album. Material exclusive to the various versions of the In Utero 20th Anniversary reissue will include a veritable treasure trove of never-before-heard demos, B-sides, compilation tracks including:

* Kurt Cobain”s handwritten lyrics
* A new 2013 mix of the entire album
* The original never-before-heard Steve Albinimixes of “Heart-Shaped Box” and “All Apologies”
* The recently unearthed Nirvana instrumental “Forgotten Tune”
* The original Dave Grohl solo demo of “Marigold” from December of 1990–the earliest Grohl composition/recording ever released.
* A four-page letter from Albini to the band outlining his plans for how the album should be recorded.
* Liner notes by Bobcat Goldthwait
* A remixed and newly mastered CD of the entire December 13, 1993 Live And Loud show at Seattle”s Pier 48 featuring the final touring lineup of Cobain, Novoselic, Grohl, and Pat Smear
* The complete Live And Loud show along with several never-before-released bonus performances, that will also be released separately as a standalone DVD and digital download on September 24.

The full track listings for all configurations are detailed below. For further details, stay tuned to http://www.nirvana.com/, @Nirvana and/or www.facebook.com/Nirvana.
