AMERICAN DREAM OUT SEPTEMBER 1 ON COLUMBIA RECORDS/DFA

LCD Soundsystem has released a third track from its eagerly anticipated fourth album AMERICAN DREAM: Having premiered today via Apple Music as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1, “tonite” has been a staple of the LCD live set since its debut performance in April—which moved STEREOGUM to laud it as “an instant classic LCD song. A hardened disco synth line and unrelenting beat push the whole thing forward, making it one of those LCD semi-epics.”

“tonite” will be included with pre-orders placed at http://smarturl.it/americandream along with “call the police” and “american dream,” which were released May 5.

“tonite” has also become the first proper video from American Dream. Directed by Joel Kefali and shot in Melbourne, Australia, the clip can be viewed at  http://smarturl.it/tonitevideo.

AMERICAN DREAM will be released September 1 digitally and on vinyl and CD via Columbia Records/DFA, with a special cassette edition available exclusively through DFA. The album will consist of the following songs:oh baby

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM: THE LONG GOODBYE INTERACTIVE GALLERY EXHIBITION OPENING APRIL 7 AT ROUGH TRADE NYC

FEATURING THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF RUVAN WIJESOORIYA

In anticipation of the April 19 Record Store Day release of the 5-LP vinyl edition of The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden (Warner Bros.), Rough Trade Records NYC Gallery will unveil LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye, an interactive gallery experience produced by Melee Media opening  12 noon on Monday, April 7 in the second floor gallery space of the store’s 64 N. 9th St. Brooklyn location.

Stephen Godfroy, Co-Owner of Rough Trade, commented, “The joy of having a record shop is being able to celebrate music as an art form, and over the last decade there have been few artists who’ve evolved music more as art form than LCD Soundsystem. Hosting this retrospective experience is therefore an incredibly synergistic and humbling moment for us, one we’re incredibly excited to share.”

LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will immerse attendees in the sounds, sights and emotions of the band’s historic April 2, 2011 farewell, an epic near 4-hour tour de force hailed by New York magazine as “a marvel of pure craft” and Rolling Stone as a “staggeringly great night.” LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will come alive in multiple dimensions via exclusive video, advance pressings of the album’s five vinyl LPs laid out on five turntables, and a massive assortment of 4″ x 6″ prints of images by longtime LCD photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya, many never before been seen–and all available for the taking and replenished weekly.

All told, LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will provide the most vivid recreation imaginable of that once in a lifetime performance–a priceless experience for those who were unable to attend the instantly sold out MSG show immortalized in the Shut Up and Play The Hits documentary and the aforementioned upcoming live album, as well as for attendees wanting a unique multi-sensory trip through those memories.

The LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye exhibit will run April 7 through May 7 and will be open until 11 pm nightly.

About The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden

Produced and mixed by LCD founder and frontman James Murphy, The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden‘s 5xLP vinyl RSD release will be followed May 19 by its digital wide release. The album captures Murphy and company going out on top and on their own terms: with the ultimate LCD live performance in both senses of the word. On The Long Goodbye, the LCD core live band of Murphy, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang, Al Doyle, Gavin Russom, Tyler Pope and Matt Thornley is augmented by a choir, string and horn sections plus contributions from both one-time-only special guests and many of the musicians with whom the band has worked over the years for incredible final performances including “North American Scum” with guest vocals from Arcade Fire, “All My Friends,” “I Can Change,” “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House,” “Someone Great,” a full performance of “45:33” featuring Reggie Watts, an epic version of the song that started it all “Losing My Edge” (which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/HmrOHxS_cK0), and literally hours more.

About Ruvan Wijesooriya

Ruvan Wijesooriya is a photographer based in New York City. After starting a skateboard company, working for fashion stylists and being a music journalist in his first 25 years, Ruvan became attracted to the storytelling qualities of photography. His unique vision consistently and seamlessly blurs the lines between life, art and commerce in subject areas ranging from landscapes to fashion, music to flowers. His photographs tell stories and express sentiment, his approach is immediate, genuine and curious.

Ruvan is known for the interactive and happening nature of his exhibitions. Last Valentine’s Day he and friends plastered an NYC subway tunnel with pictures of kisses, hearts, pets and roses for subway riders to take. He recently made photography as performance in the creation of an advertising campaign for Roberto Cavalli. Ruvan will be making a photo installation at the Foam Photography Museum in Amsterdam this summer as part of a larger exhibition about contemporary fashion photography. His work about the influential NYC band, LCD Soundsystem, is showing at Rough Trade Records, through April, 2014. Ruvan’s prints are collected primarily by other artists and creatives such as Ed Ruscha, Michael Bastian and Doug Aitken.

THE LONG GOODBYE: LCD SOUNDSYSTEM LIVE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN FAREWELL CONCERT TO BE RELEASED IN ITS ENTIRETY

WARNER BROS. TO ISSUE JAMES MURPHY-PRODUCED 5-LP VINYL APRIL 19 FOR RECORD STORE DAY, FOLLOWED BY MAY 20 WIDE RELEASE IN VINYL & DIGITAL FORMATS

The final coda of the LCD Soundsystem saga will arrive this Record Store Day, April 19, when Warner Bros. releases The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden, a 5-LP vinyl unabridged recording of LCD Soundsystem’s near four-hour April 2, 2011 farewell show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. On May 20th, this vinyl box set will hit retailers en masse and will be released digitally as well. Full tracklist below.

Produced and mixed by LCD founder and frontman James Murphy, The Long Goodbye is the ultimate audio document of LCD Soundsystem’s now legendary final show. The album’s exclusive mix brings new life to every note of music played during the epic MSG show–including of course the performances featured in the acclaimed film Shut Up and Play The Hits, which chronicled the concert while painting an intimate portrait of Murphy navigating its lead-up and aftermath.

Hailed by New York magazine as “a marvel of pure craft” and Rolling Stone as a “staggeringly great night,” The Long Goodbye show was the lengthiest, most career-spanning set LCD Soundsystem would ever play.
