MYSPACE MUSIC TO PREMIERE BECK “GAMMA RAY REDUX” VIDEO ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28

FAN-MADE “BECKUMENTARY” TO DEBUT ON MYSPACE MUSIC ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18

Multi-genre musical pioneer Beck (http://www.myspace.com/beck) expands his innovative reach yet again, with two upcoming creative collaborations with MySpace Music:

The worldwide debut of a brand new video for “Gamma Ray,” the current single from Beck’s universally acclaimed Modern Guilt, will premiere on MySpace Music (http://www.myspace.com/music) on Tuesday, October 28. Directed by Jess Holzworth, the new “Gamma Ray Redux” music video features Chloe Sevigny as a post apocalyptic go-go dancer set loose in a Dada-ist pastiche of psychedelic imagery and characters.

Additionally, a lucky Beck MySpace fan will be chosen to make their very own “Beckumentary” on November 9, at the first of Beck’s two sold out nights at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. The Beckumentarian will conduct an interview with Beck and shoot both performance and behind-the-scenes footage. The resulting documentary will premiere Tuesday, November 18 on MySpace Music.

“This is what MySpace Music is all about–enabling huge fans to connect with the artists they love,” said Josh Brooks, VP of Music Marketing for MySpace. “Beck has etched his name in the good book of rock. We are thrilled that he is using our site to reach out to fans on a personal level- it’s truly a testament to how much he appreciates their support.”

RADIOHEAD: IN RAINBOWS SALES DATA REVEALED

Little more than a year since Radiohead’s October 10, 2007 pay-what-you-like self-release of its seventh album, In Rainbows, some conclusive statistics were made available at the recent “You Are In Control” conference in Reykjavik, Iceland.

For those who missed coverage of the conference while engrossed in something as trivial as the Presidential Debates or the world economic collapse, the following is a summation of key answers to FAQs:

* In Rainbows has sold three million copies thus far, a figure that includes downloads from Radiohead.com, physical CDs, a deluxe 2-CD/vinyl box set, as well as sales via iTunes and other digital retailers.
* The In Rainbows deluxe edition sold 100,000 copies via Radiohead fan service W.A.S.T.E.
* Radiohead made more money prior to In Rainbows’ January 2008 physical release than its total take on 2003’s Hail To the Thief.
* The physical release of In Rainbows entered both the US and UK charts at #1 in January, despite having been freely available since October 2007.
* In Rainbows was the first Radiohead album available on iTunes, where it went in at #1 in January, selling 30,000 in its first week.

In Rainbows also owns the singular distinction of being the first record widely regarded as album of the year in advance of its actual physical release: By the time TBD/ATO released In Rainbows to retail on January 1, 2008, the digital version had already topped the 2007 year-end lists at NEW YORK, THE NEW YORK TIMES, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, NPR, TIME, PEOPLE, ROLLING STONE, BLENDER, SPIN, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES and many more.

Radiohead recently concluded a world tour in Japan, one that sold over 1.2 million tickets.

FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

Two Nights, 165,000 Fans
Available November 18th on DVD and Blu-Ray

165,000 tickets sold and more than four hours of music later, FOO FIGHTERS have now immortalized their biggest ever headline stand: FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM, an 18-song DVD and Blu-Ray document of their two sold out Wembley Stadium shows, will be released November 18th.

The Wembley concerts, which took place Friday and Saturday June 6 and 7 of this year, sold out within 24 hours, making them the biggest headline performances of the band’s illustrious career–as well as the biggest rock shows staged at the new Wembley Stadium to date.

FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM is a career-spanning live opus, drawing on all six of Foo Fighters’ studio albums, featuring Dave Grohl (vocals/guitar), Taylor Hawkins (drums/vocals), Nate Mendel (bass) and Chris Shiflett (guitar) ripping through classics “Times Like These,” “Everlong,” “Monkey Wrench,” “All My Life” and “Learn To Fly” as well as new live staples including “Long Road To Ruin.” Elsewhere the core FF four are joined by co-founding FF guitarist Pat Smear, keyboardist Rami Jaffee, violinist/cellist Jessy Greene and percussionist Drew Hester on the DVD’s blazing opener “The Pretender” as well as a semi-acoustic mid-set section featuring intimate versions of “My Hero,” the Grohl-penned Nirvana B-Side “Marigold,” Hawkins’ lead vocal turn on “Cold Day In The Sun” and more.

Like the Wembley weekend, FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM concludes with a triumphant and highly emotional “Best Of You” with a closing chorus of 85,000 fans leaving Grohl visibly moved.

Early on in the evening’s festivities, Grohl asked the crowd “How did this band get so f***ing big?” By the close of the weekend, 165,000 people knew the answer. And now with the release of FOO FIGHTERS: LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM, so will you.

RA RA RIOT’s “inevitable rise to prominence” (The WASHINGTON POST) continues with this week’s trifecta: The band made its debut on THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN last night (the performance will be up shortly at http://lateshow.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/live/), both of this week’s New York shows–Oct. 16 at the Bowery Ballroom and Oct. 17 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg–completely SOLD OUT (a VERY LIMITED number of press/review tickets are still available–LAST CHANCE!), and another run of U.S. headline dates has been confirmed for December.

Released August 19, The Rhumb Line (Barsuk) entered the Top 200 U.S. album chart at #109, selling nearly 6000 units in its first week of release. The Syracuse NY-born band’s first full length has since generated some of the most positive response to any indie release of recent years, with ROLLING STONE featuring the band as a full page Artists To Watch and awarding the record a 4-star review, hailing it as “a blissful chamber-pop breakthrough” and “ultimately life-affirming.” ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY compared it to “Unforgettable Fire-era U2,” DETAILS noted its “indie-rock intensity” in a 4-star review, and PITCHFORK called it “a record that is at once grand and intimate.”

Finally, RA RA RIOT will embark on its first ever European tour in November, following an October return to the UK that features several dates supporting Vampire Weekend.

MATES OF STATE EXTEND THE RE-ARRANGER TOUR

NOVEMBER 7-23 HEADLINE RUN ADDED W/ BROTHER READE

Having kicked off their fall tour schedule with an appearance at AUSTIN CITY LIMITS that elicited raves from the AUSTIN CHRONICLE (”an act that’s matured both personally and professionally”) and THE ONION (”the duo continues to save itself by producing albums that are better than the previous ones”), and currently on tour with Santogold, the indefatigable MATES OF STATE have added a November series of headline dates to their Re-Arranger tour.

The new dates begin November 7 in Asbury Park NJ and run through November 23 in Baltimore MD. All dates will feature LA hip-hop duo Brother Reade as main support – see below for a full itinerary.

The Re-Arranger tour is of course named for the MATES’ fifth album, Re-Arrange Us (Barsuk), which was released May 20, the same day marking the band’s network television debut on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN.

Re-Arrange Us has received the best critical (and public) response of MATES OF STATE’s career: NEW YORK magazine called the record “a bona fide breakthrough,” MAGNET praised it as “the best album of their career for a second straight time,” while DETAILS and ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY focused on individual tracks, the former raving “‘Now’ has summer anthem written all over it” and the latter featuring “My Only Offer” as a “Choice Cut.”

Gardner and Hammel will be joined on the upcoming dates by additional musicians Linnea Weiss (cello) and Chris Cosgrove (guitar, bass, electronics).

For further information, contact Steve Martin or Amy Grote at nasty little man 212 343 0740 amy@nastylittleman.com

WAR CHILD AND ASTRALWERKS ANNOUNCE THE ALBUM “HEROES” WILL NOW BE RELEASED IN FEBRUARY 2009.

War Child and Astralwerks Records have moved the release of the album “Heroes” from November 2008 until early in 2009.

The “Heroes” album is a unique collaboration of music’s biggest acts, with all-time legends nominating both the classic track and modern artist to record an exclusive cover version.

Since the album was announced recently a list of huge names have come forward with offers to participate in the record. This new release date will allow War Child to add further to their historic roll call of musical legends and modern greats. The initial list of participants included such luminaries as Paul McCartney, Duffy, Brian Wilson, Rufus Wainwrigh, Joy Division and Hot Chip.

War Child say: “We have been over-whelmed and amazed by the response to the project. The wealth of talent who have contacted us wishing to support the charity and contribute to the album is humbling and we are delighted to have been able to change our deadlines to accommodate some of them. It was impossible to say no.”

War Child would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to releasing a fantastic record in 2009.
