QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: ALIVE IN THE CATACOMBS TO BE UNEARTHED JUNE 5

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE:
ALIVE IN THE CATACOMBS
TO BE UNEARTHED JUNE 5

“If you’re ever going to be haunted, surrounded by several million dead people is the place. I’ve never felt so welcome in my life.” —Joshua Homme

http://qotsa.com/

Queens of the Stone Age will unveil the cinematic realization of a dream with the June 5 premiere of Alive in the Catacombs, an audiovisual document of the band’s long-rumored performance in the tunnels of the famed Catacombs of Paris.

Filmed and recorded in July 2024, Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs captures QOTSA as you’ve never seen or heard them before. This utterly unique once in a lifetime experience features a carefully selected setlist spanning the QOTSA catalog, each song chosen and epically reimagined for the Catacombs. The result is an unprecedented incarnation of QOTSA at their most intimate, yet surrounded by literally millions of human remains—“the biggest audience we’ve ever played for,” says Joshua Homme.

The Catacombs of Paris is a sprawling 320km (200 miles) ossuary beneath the surface of Paris. With a foundation of several million bodies buried in the 1700s, skeletal remains are largely exposed, with much of the walls built of skulls and bones.

Homme had dreamt of staging a QOTSA performance in the Catacombs since his first visit nearly 20 years ago. The city of Paris, however, had never granted permission to any artist to play within the sacred tunnels. QOTSA, being law-abiding citizens, waited until their vision was sanctioned.

Hélène Furminieux (Les Catacombes de Paris) said:

“The Catacombs of Paris are a fertile ground for the imagination. It is important to us that artists take hold of this universe and offer a sensitive interpretation of it. Going underground and confronting reflections on death can be a deeply intense experience. Josh seems to have felt in his body and soul the full potential of this place. The recordings resonate perfectly with the mystery, history, and a certain introspection, notably perceptible in the subtle use of the silence within the Catacombs.”

Every aesthetic decision, every choice of song, every configuration of instruments…  absolutely everything was planned and played with deference to the Catacombs—from the acoustics and ambient sounds — dripping water, echoes and natural resonance — to the darkly atmospheric lighting tones that enhance the music. Far from the sound-insulated confines of the studio or the comfort of onstage monitors, Alive in the Catacombs sees the band not only rise to this challenge, but embrace it.

Homme recalls, “We’re so stripped down because that place is so stripped down, which makes the music so stripped down, which makes the words so stripped down… It would be ridiculous to try to rock there. All those decisions were made by that space. That space dictates everything, it’s in charge. You do what you’re told when you’re in there.”

The result is QOTSA distilled down to their most elemental form—Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore augmented by a three-piece string section, employing chains and chopsticks as makeshift percussion instruments.  Alive in the Catacombs is Queens of the Stone Age stripped to their barest essence by necessity (you can’t call it “unplugged” if there are no actual electrical outlets to plug into), McGyver-ing a car battery to power an electric piano. And unfiltered, as every song was recorded live in a complete take with no overdubs or edits.

Words fail to convey the magnificence of Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs. Its truly stunning balance of subtlety and grandeur must be experienced to be appreciated. The beauty is in the struggle (both internal and external). This is Joshua Homme at his most physically vulnerable yet ultimately his most triumphant.

Queens of the Stone Age: Alive in the Catacombs was produced by La Blogothèque and directed by Thomas Rames, and is being released by Queens of the Stone Age and Matador Records. The film will be available to rent or purchase via qotsa.com where pre-orders are currently available. Fans who purchase Alive In the Catacombs by June 7th will receive exclusive access to behind the scenes footage in addition to full streaming and download access. An audio only version will be announced in the coming weeks.

GHOST: SKELETÁ #1 ON THE BILLBOARD 200

GHOST

SKELETÁ

#1 ON THE BILLBOARD 200
First Hard Rock Album to Top the Chart in More Than Four Years

Transcending genre and defying trends, GHOST’s SKELETÁ has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The #1 album in the country, SKELETÁ accrued sales of 86,000 in the week since its April 25 release via Loma Vista Recordings.

Currently the world’s biggest-selling album and the week’s lone Top 10 debut, SKELETÁ’s first week haul bests the nearly 70,000 moved by its predecessor IMPERA in its first week of release. SKELETÁ also landed at #1 on the U.S. Album, Vinyl Album, Indie Store Album, Independent Album, Rock Album, Rock and Alternative Album, and Hard Rock Album charts. Internationally, the album bowed at #1 in the GRAMMY-winning theatrical rock outfit’s native Sweden as well as Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and Finland, #2 in the UK, Netherlands and Norway, #4 in France and #6 in Ireland, among others.

In addition to being the first time a hard rock album has topped the Billboard 200 since 2020, SKELETÁ has racked up the biggest sales week for a rock, hard rock or alternative album in 2025—as well as the biggest vinyl sales week for any hard rock LP since the dawn of the Luminate era in 1991 and the most for any rock album since 2023.

The coming of SKELETÁ was heralded by three singles/videos that trended Top 10 on YouTube, as GHOST garnered #1 spots on Tik Tok’s #NewMusic, iTunes and Amazon’s Best Sellers. First up was “Satanized”—dubbed a “catchy goth-rock epic” by VICE, followed by the  “Lachryma”—a fixture on Spotify’s Viral Charts, both globally and in key territories like the US, UK, Germany, and more deemed “economical, vicious, and contemporary, but tinged by ‘80s rhapsody” by PASTE and “phantasmagoric” by REVOLVER, and “Peacefield,” the monolithic anthem opening both the new record and GHOST’s massive live rituals on its current SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025

Featuring the flesh and bone debut of frontman Papa V Perpetua and having sold half a million tickets and counting, the SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 kicks off a North American swing that will begin July 9 in Baltimore and include GHOST’s historic first-ever headlining show at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 22. With more shows to be announced soon, the SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 ritual experience promises to expand the GHOST community to attract its largest and most diverse audiences to date. From lifelong disciples to the curious uninitiated first-timers to the outcasts and others who find solace in the ritual, all are welcome to escape the travails of daily life and to become one with the enthralling GHOST ritual. Tune into the band’s own GTV for exclusive coverage of all things GHOST and SKELETOUR, as host Vanessa Warwick welcomes any and all to join the Ghoulbangers’ Ball for in-depth and behind the scenes coverage available only HERE.

WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run, Cover Revealed

LIVERIGHT/W. W. NORTON UNVEILS COVER AND FURTHER DETAILS FOR UPCOMING RELEASE OF NEW BOOK

WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run

By Paul McCartney

Edited and with an Introduction by Ted Widmer

A landmark account of Paul McCartney’s triumphant musical reinvention in the 1970s and the subsequent rise of one of the decade’s most iconic bands—told by Paul and the people who were there.

Publishing November 4, 2025

A unique oral history.

“Suddenly Wings has found its moment. We have a generational shift at work, and it’s like being transported back on a magic carpet. Working on the book has awakened so many beautiful memories of our times back then.”
– Paul McCartney, from the foreword of WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run

One of music’s greatest adventures told by a cast of incredible characters who were there, including: Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Mary McCartney, Stella McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, George Martin, Sean Ono Lennon, Chrissie Hynde, Dustin Hoffman, Twiggy and all the members of Wings—Denny Seiwell, Henry McCullough, Jimmy McCulloch, Geoff Britton, Joe English, Steve Holley and Laurence Juber.

This remarkable cast tells the story of a band who made history—selling over 22 million albums worldwide, spawning singles including #1 hits “My Love,” “Band on the Run,” “Listen to What the Man Said,” “Silly Love Songs,” “Let ‘Em In,” and “With a Little Luck,” and an Oscar nomination for “Live and Let Die” (the first James Bond theme to receive that nod). A band who pushed the boundaries in both the studio and in live performances, from their first university tour through to pioneering large scale concerts, long before stadiums and arenas were commonly used for rock shows.

The book includes a foreword written by Paul McCartney and is compiled from over 42 hours of brand-new interviews, plus historical interviews, and newly discovered, previously unheard interviews from Paul’s personal archive. WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run features over 150 photographs capturing Wings throughout the years—many previously unseen—and shot by an array of photographers including Linda McCartney, Mike McCartney, Clive Arrowsmith, Henry Diltz, Robert Ellis and Paul himself. The book also includes memorabilia, including some of Paul’s diary page entries from the time and handwritten lyrics.

WINGS: The Story of a Band on the Run is an international story that moves through space as well as time, including adventures in Scotland, New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Nashville, Lagos, Japan, the Virgin Islands, Morocco, Montserrat and other memorable places, against the backdrop of political and social timelines of the 1970s.

ARCADE FIRE: “PINK ELEPHANT” TITLE TRACK & VISUALIZER OUT NOW

ARCADE FIRE
“PINK ELEPHANT”
TITLE TRACK & VISUALIZER OUT NOW
NEW ALBUM OUT MAY 9

APPEARING MAY 10 ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

Arcade Fire has unveiled “Pink Elephant,” the title track of the band’s forthcoming seventh studio album, out May 9, 2025 via Columbia Records. Available now across all digital platforms and accompanied by a visualizer that can be seen HERE, “Pink Elephant” is the second brand new song to be made available from the album of the same name, following the “thrumming bass line and anthemic glimmers” (BILLBOARD) of “Year of the Snake.”

Arcade Fire will appear May 10 on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Taking place the day after Pink Elephant’s arrival, the performance will mark the band’s sixth time as musical guest.

The term “pink elephant” refers to that paradoxical effect where the effort to suppress a thought leads to it being impossible to avoid— as exemplified in the song “Pink Elephant” by the impassioned futility of the repeated refrain of “Take your mind off me.”

The first full-length collection of new Arcade Fire music since 2022’s GRAMMY-nominated international #1 album WEPink Elephant is comprised of 10 new tracks of cinematic mystical punk clocking in at 42 minutes. Pink Elephant is produced by Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and Daniel Lanois and was recorded at Win and Régine’s own Good News Recording Studio in New Orleans.

When experienced in its entirety, Pink Elephant invites the listener on a sonic odyssey – a quest for life – that exists within the perception of the individual, a meditation on both darkness and light, the beauty within. The layers of this condensed epic unfold to reveal new dimensions with each successive listen.

In the lead-up to Pink Elephant’s release, Arcade Fire has embarked on a limited series of special gigs in select cities — including tonight at New Orleans’ Saenger Theater and London’s Royal Albert Hall on 14th May — performing the upcoming new album in its entirety. Visit Arcade Fire site and socials for more information on these intimate sold out shows, or alternatively download the Circle of Trust app – a resource for Arcade Fire news, music, videos, early access to tickets, exclusive merch, and episodes of Santa Pirata Radio, where the band speak directly to fans and offer personal insights and behind the scenes info on all things Arcade Fire.

GHOST: NEW ALBUM, SKELETÁ, OUT NOW

GHOST

SKELETÁ

NEW ALBUM OUT NOW

“Peacefield” New Single Live Now

Following what seemed an interminable wait to its global legion of fans, GHOST’s excruciatingly anticipated new album, SKELETÁ, is at long last out today, April 25, via Loma Vista Recordings.

The lead up to SKELETÁ’s full release has been punctuated by a cavalcade of world-spanning events that have only elevated the fervor of the album’s exuberant welcome. This week alone witnessed the unveiling of the recorded version of “Peacefield,” the monolithic anthem opening both the new record and the sold-out arena performances comprising the first leg of the SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025. The faithful also assembled in full regalia for SKELETÁ-Eve Midnight Sales celebrating the arrival of the band’s sixth psalm at close to 150 record stores around the globe. With demand for the midnight mass events far exceeding the number of suitable physical locations, GHOST’s added live-streamed SKELETÁ Rockin’ Eve event took the invocation of the new offering to devotees in all corners of the world, ensuring that not a single fan was left out of the festivities.

The coming of SKELETÁ was previously heralded by first single “Satanized”—dubbed a “catchy goth-rock epic” by VICE—and the rapturously received “Lachryma”—deemed “economical, vicious, and contemporary, but tinged by ‘80s rhapsody” by PASTE and “phantasmagoric” by REVOLVER. Both advance tracks have remained perched atop streaming music and video charts, thanks to GHOST’s singularly passionate following that includes more than 10 million combined Spotify monthly listeners and YouTube subscribers.

As if all of the above was not enough, GHOST’s blockbuster SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 opened to overwhelmingly ecstatic critical and popular reception from the moment the first notes of “Peacefield” filled the AO Arena in Manchester UK with deafening applause on the tour’s April 15 opening night. Featuring the flesh and bone debut of frontman Papa V Perpetua, the SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 is the most staggeringly ambitious incarnation of the GHOST live ritual to date. Having completed a string of sold out arena shows across the UK, the tour is currently making its way through the European territories, presaging a North American campaign that will begin July 9 in Baltimore and include GHOST’s historic first-ever headlining show at New York’s hallowed Madison Square Garden on July 22. With more shows to be announced soon, the SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 ritual experience promises to expand the GHOST community to attract its largest and most diverse audiences to date. From lifelong disciples to the curious uninitiated first-timers to the outcasts and others who find solace in the ritual, all are welcome to escape the travails of daily life and to become one with the enthralling spectacle hailed by KERRANG on opening night in Manchester as “bones and wings and sparkling and bedazzled macabre glory… f***ing brilliant.”

The tour’s kick-off also marked the world premiere of GTV, the new channel dedicated to exclusive coverage of all things GHOST and SKELETOUR. Join host Vanessa Warwick as she welcomes any and all to join the Ghoulbangers’ Ball for in-depth and behind the scenes coverage available only HERE

SKELETÁ IN STORES APRIL 25

SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 Begins April 15

“In The Middle Of The Night It Feeds
In The Middle Of The Night It Eats You”

GHOST has unveiled “Lachryma,” the second advance offering from the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock icons’ feverishly anticipated new album, SKELETÁ, out April 25 via Loma Vista Recordings.

Arriving in tandem with a lucid nightmare of a video featuring Papa V Perpetua’s first full performance as newly anti-christened frontman, “Lachryma” is quite possibly the most emblematic example to date of GHOST’s signature balance of dark lyrical foreboding and irresistible melodic uplift. Following closely on the hooves of first SKELETÁ single “Satanized”—dubbed a “catchy goth-rock epic” by VICE and hailed by BROOKLYN VEGAN as “the band’s trademark occult rock sounding as equally eerie and triumphant as ever”—“Lachryma” supplants the demonic hooks of its predecessor with a purple haze of sonic flourishes that accomplish something even more insidious: a bonafide modern day rock anthem about weeping. The sweet turns sour, the vile rot attacks, yet you can’t stop singing along… even as the purple tears begin to fall, as they’re flowing HERE.

GHOST’s sixth psalm, SKELETÁ, is its most unflinchingly introspective work to date. Where previous GHOST albums dealt largely with chronicling and/or observing outward facing subject matter—such as IMPERA’s meditations on the rise and fall of empires and its predecessor Prequelle’s evocations of the ravages of era-defining plagues—SKELETA’s lyrics render the distinct individual emotional vistas of each of its 10 songs in one-on-one fashion, at times as if in a dialogue with oneself in a mirror. The end result is a singular collection of timeless, universal sentiments, all filtered through a prism of a uniquely personal point of view.

The physical manifestation of SKELETÁ will be heralded by the recently announced SKELETÁ-Eve Midnight Sales. Reclaim the night with your fellow GHOST faithful, as you celebrate the arrival of SKELETÁ at one of the many participating stores around the globe at midnight (local). Fans who purchase the new album at these ceremonies can have it marked with a Grucifix stamp, as they join GHOST in reviving and continuing the hallowed rock and roll tradition of the midnight mass sale.

Beginning April 15 at the AO Arena in Manchester UK, SKELETÁ will be brought to life over the course of GHOST’s impending SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025. The most ambitious incarnation of the GHOST live ritual to date, SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 recently revealed a first wave of more than 55 dates—including a historic first-ever headlining show at New York’s hallowed Madison Square Garden—with more shows to be announced soon. With tickets already selling at a brisk pace, the SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025 ritual experience promises to expand the GHOST community to attract its largest and most diverse audiences to date. From lifelong disciples to the curious uninitiated first-timers to the outcasts and others who find solace in the ritual, all are welcome to escape the travails of daily life and to become one with the phantasmagoric spectacle that moved THE LOS ANGELES TIMES to rave “As far as live acts go, they’re one of the best in the business” and THE WALL STREET JOURNAL to anoint the band as “the next generation of arena stars.”

As GHOST continues to strengthen its bond with the world-spanning legion of kindred souls that commune with the band and each other at its vaunted live rituals, it’s no exaggeration to describe GHOST — and the uniquely intense connection formed with the faithful who find refuge in the personae, lore and world Forge has created — as a singular global phenomenon.
