ST. VINCENT MassEducation Reimagining of MASSEDUCTION Out October 12 on Loma Vista

Reimagining of MASSEDUCTION Out October 12 on Loma Vista

Heralded by the release of “Slow Slow Disco” and the out of thin air appearance of new instant grat track “Savior,” St. Vincent’s new album MassEducation is now available for pre-order in advance of its October 12 release on Loma Vista Recordings.

A stunning standalone work in its own right, MassEducation is in fact another dimension of last year’s universally acclaimed MASSEDUCTION. Recorded live in the studio over two nights in August 2017 while at Reservoir Studios NYC mixing MASSEDUCTION, MassEducation lays bare the exquisite songcraft of its other half. Performed entirely by Annie Clark on vocals and Thomas Bartlett on piano, the new album renders songs like “Young Lover” and “Fear The Future” and their subjects in vivid, vulnerable new light. Clark herself describes the album as “two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City.”

MassEducation’s arrangements were debuted to the public over the course of two intimate evenings with Clark and Bartlett October 2 at The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles and September 4 at London’s Cadogan Hall—the latter moving Q magazine to state “… a showcase of both straightforward songcraft and unmediated stage presence, this evening was undoubtedly a victory.”

The complete track listing for MassEducation is:

  1. Slow Disco
  2. Savior
  3. Masseduction
  4. Sugarboy
  5. Fear The Future
  6. Smoking Section
  7. Los Ageless
  8. New York
  9. Young Lover
  10. Happy Birthday, Johnny
  11. Pills
  12. Hang On Me

St. Vincent and her band—Toko Yasuda (bass, background vocals), Daniel Mintseris (keyboard) and Matt Johnson (drums)—will reconvene for a run of full-band shows beginning with an October 5 late night headline show ringing in this year’s Austin City Limits Festival’s opening weekend.

St. Vincent and band will also appear on the season premiere of Austin City Limits television on PBS October 6.

NEW TRACK OUT NOW FROM SUSPIRIA (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film)

Following the release of first single “Suspirium”—described by The New York Times as “sweetly chilling” and Rolling Stone as “peak Yorke, and scary good”—a second track, “Has Ended,” has been released in advance of Thom Yorke’s Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film). The album will be released October 26 on XL Recordings.

Suspiria consists of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Luca Guadagnino’s reimagining of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic. The album is a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and more traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals including the previously released “Suspirium,” which features the melodic theme that recurs throughout the film and its score.

As scoring a horror film presented Thom with altogether new challenges and opportunities, Suspiria stands apart from any of his other work. Piano/vocal ballads, Krautrock-esque modular synth work inspired by the film’s Berlin 1977 setting, multilayered vocals, and melodies that convey terror, longing and melancholy combine to create a chaotic yet cohesive musical spell.

Suspiria was written and arranged by Thom Yorke, recorded and produced by Thom and Sam Petts-Davies. The album also features the London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, Noah Yorke on drums on “Volk” and “Has Ended,” and Pasha Mansurov on solo flute on “Suspirium.”

Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) will be available across digital platforms, as well as 2-LP gatefold package pink vinyl and 2-CD physical versions. For further information go to

September 20-23 Exhibit Draws Hundreds
More Than a Dozen Paintings Sold

Next Show to be Announced

Luscious Jackson founding member Jill Cunniff’s first exhibition of original artwork, Lyric and Word Paintings, was a resounding success. Opening with a Thursday, September 20th acoustic show by Jill and friends, the exhibit lasted through Sunday, September 23rd at 198 Allen Street in New York City, drawing hundreds of people and selling more than a dozen paintings.

“Having an art show has been a dream of mine since I started painting as a teenager,” Jill commented. “The experience of performing music in this beautiful space full of art was seriously exciting! It was great to see and interact with all the people who came to the opening. I loved doing the Q and A during the concert, where I talked about the process of making art and how it relates to writing music. We ended up selling 14 paintings. I can’t wait to do another show when my next bunch of paintings are done.”

Lyric and Word Paintings was presented By PMM ART PROJECTS.

Details of Jill’s next exhibit will be announced as they are confirmed.

Dave Grohl to Launch “PLAY” Music Gear Auction on Reverb

Dave Grohl to Launch “PLAY” Music Gear Auction on Reverb

Proceeds Will Benefit Organizations That Help Budding Musicians ‘Just Play’;

Limited Edition “PLAY” Vinyl Out NOW

Friday, September 28, 2018—After having unleashed his unprecedented and immersive project “PLAY,” Dave Grohl today announced The Dave Grohl “PLAY” Reverb Auction in partnership with, the leading online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling musical instruments. The auction launches on Tuesday, October 9, and will feature guitars, drums, and more signed by the musician. Proceeds from the auction will go to organizations that help young generations of musicians “just PLAY.”

In August, Grohl released “PLAY,” a two-part mini-documentary that celebrates the rewards and challenges of dedicating one’s life to mastering a musical instrument and culminates in a 23-minute, one-man-band instrumental song performed live by Grohl on seven different instruments. In conjunction with the project, recording studios around the country donated session time to young musicians. In support of musicians like these, Grohl is auctioning a collection of signed instruments that mirror the musical equipment used to create “PLAY.”

“When I take my kids to their music lessons, I see these rooms full of children that are really pushing themselves to figure this out. I’m inspired by watching that process,” Grohl said. “Even now, as a 49-year-old man, I’m still trying to figure it out. It’s not something that you ever truly master. You’re always chasing the next challenge, and you’re always trying to find a way to improve what you’ve learned.”

Beginning on Tuesday, October 9, fans can bid on music gear donated by DW Drums, Fender, Gibson Gretsch, Ludwig, Made By Maple, and Zildjian — all signed by Grohl. Proceeds from the auction will benefit several organizations that make it possible for young musicians to learn and grow.

“Seeing my own kids start to play music and take lessons brings me back to the time when I was their age, chipping away at it and learning from my mistakes,” Grohl said. “ It’s a lifelong obsession, but at the end of the day—just like any kid—the reward is just to play.”

The auction will begin on Tuesday, October 9, and end in the evening on Sunday, October 21. Note that Reverb only hosts auctions on the rare occasion that the team deems items truly one-of-a-kind. To preview the items that will be available in The Dave Grohl “PLAY” Reverb Auction and a video of Grohl talking about the initiative, visit

And at long last, the limited edition vinyl release for “PLAY” is available now. The LP features a 180 gram, single-sided vinyl with Grohl’s studio floor plan that was used for the recording of “PLAY” etched on the B-side.  The intricate packaging is a reverse gatefold that opens up diagonally and includes an insert of the mic input list from the recording session. Available for purchase now at your local record store or

Very special thanks to the manufacturers and studios who graciously donated gear and session time.

Written by Adrock and Mike D, with contributions from Amy Poehler, Colson Whitehead, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson, Luc Sante, and more, Beastie Boys Book is a panoramic experience that tells the story of Beastie Boys for the first time in the band members’ own words. Adam “Adrock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond offer revealing and very funny accounts of their transition from teenage punks to budding rappers; their early collaboration with Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin; the debut album that became the first hip hop record ever to hit #1, Licensed to Ill—and the album’s messy fallout as the band broke with Def Jam; their move to Los Angeles and rebirth with the genre-defying masterpiece Paul’s Boutique; their evolution as musicians and social activists over the course of the classic albums Check Your HeadIll Communication, and Hello Nasty and the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits conceived by the late Adam “MCA” Yauch and more.

With a style as distinctive and eclectic as a Beastie Boys album, Beastie Boys Book is so much more than a musicians’ memoir. Alongside Horovitz and Diamond’s personal recollections are an overwhelming assortment of rare photos and original illustrations, a cookbook by chef Roy Choi, a graphic novel, a map of Beastie Boys’ New York, mixtape playlists, and many more surprises.

They met together at the 3D animation French school SUPINFOCOM where they did two graduations films, “Azul” and “Contre-temps”. Pushed by the passion of making movies they’ve decided to create the collective and make their first independent short film “HORDE” followed one year later by the movie clip “THE LAST GOODBYE” for the Canadian musician “PILOTPRIEST”. Both of the films received a very warm reception from internet and festivals.

The three directors worked in a lot of different projects individually for companies in London and Paris before joining Feed Me Light. Collectively they have developed various skills like concept design, 3d & 2d animation, modelling and illustration. This diversity of domains make the strength of the collective, as it gives them an independence in projects and an availability to manage all the parts of a film.

ARCADE FIRE: “PETER PAN” (Equiknoxx Remix)

“PETER PAN” (Equiknoxx Remix)

As Arcade Fire approach the grand finale of their Everything Now Continued Tour, headlining The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles tonight, a new remix and accompanying video have been released for “Peter Pan” from the band’s Grammy-nominated international #1 album, Everything Now. Watch the video HERE.

Created completely independently by Negril, Jamaica-born director Storm Saulter (Better Mus’ Come), the “Peter Pan (Equiknoxx Remix)” clip plays like a short film–a “Lo-Fi Teenage Dancehall Fairytale” in Saulter’s words.

The video features Kingston dancehall stars Maleik Lamont and Rayana Campbell as Peter and Wendy, whose story plays out in a hypnotic mix of neon tinged nightscapes and kinetically charged dance sequences choreographed by Amanyea Stines (who also plays one of Wendy’s dancers, was responsible for casting all of the dancers in the video, and whose credits include work with Cardi B and Major Lazer among others).

The entire “Peter Pan” project speaks to Arcade Fire’s love for and familiarity with the music, culture and people of Jamaica. Storm Saulter’s relationship with the band traces back to their meeting through mutual friend Chris Blackwell, with an immediate bond formed that led to Saulter photographing the band at Trident Castle in Port Antonio during the sessions for their Reflektor album. Saulter’s involvement with “Peter Pan” was much deeper than the typical music video director: The “Peter Pan” version that serves as soundtrack to Peter and Wendy’s romance was coordinated by him–both the Equiknoxx remix as well as the dub mix by Saulter’s composer Jeremy Ashbourne.

Arcade Fire are currently playing the last few headline dates of their current tour tonight September 20 in Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre, following by two nights at the Greek Theatre in Berekeley September 21 and 22. The last show of the tour will be Arcade’s September 23 return to Las Vegas for the Life Is Beautiful festival.
