“OLYMPIK”
NEWEST ADVANCE TRACK FROM SOLO DEBUT FROM RADIOHEAD’S ED O’BRIEN

EOB Earth out April 17th on Capitol Records

Watch the visualizer for Olympik HERE

“All our lives played out so
Intersect in the greatest flow
Every sight, every sound
And everything that goes around
kaleidoscope will start to spin
Shaking up all the mess we’re in
Gonna shake it up, all the mess we’re in…”

Currently recovering at home and wishing the best for the safety and health of all, Ed O’Brien is grateful to unveil “Olympik,” the latest advance offering from his debut album under the EOB moniker, Earth, still on track for an April 17th release via Capitol Records. https://EOB.lnk.to/OlympikPR

Preceded by first official single “Shangri-La” and the “shapeshifting epic” (STEREOGUM) “Brasil” and its accompanying sci-fi short film, “Olympik” is the third song from Earth to be released in advance of the album. Bristling with “electro energy” (MXDWN), “Olympik” is anchored by a lockstep groove courtesy of Omar Hakim (Drums) and Nathan East (Bass). Ed’s unmistakable voice and guitars float ethereally atop the mix, with additional programming by Flood, Catherine Marks and Adam ‘Cecil’ Bartlett, percussion and programming by Richie Kennedy, and guitar from David Okumu adding and combining textures to mesmerizing effect.

“Olympik” was written by Edward O’Brien, co-produced by Flood and Catherine Marks, engineered by Adam ‘Cecil’ Bartlett with additional engineering by Richie Kennedy, and mixed by Alan Moulder.

Physical configurations of Earth are available for advance purchase at https://EOB.lnk.to/storePR including an exclusive transparent red vinyl LP, standard 12” vinyl LP and CD versions, and more. Digital pre-order and pre-saves are also possible now, and fans who do so will instantly receive “Olympik,” “Brasil” and “Shangri-La”: https://EOB.lnk.to/EarthPR

STATEMENT FROM METALLICA

UPDATE FROM THE BUNKER

Greetings . . . not from our usual HQ haunts, but this time from our living rooms, bedrooms and basements.  As many of you know, in our nearly forty years of touring, we’ve had a few mishaps along the way; broken bones, trashed appendixes, a pyro mishap, backs thrown out, crazy weather, food poisoning (beware of the oysters!) and even one way next-level anxiety attack! None of it has ever stopped us, but this is obviously a very different time and leaving the house now literally means taking your life in your hands.   Unfortunately, in these surreal times that means we have to stay away from each other for the foreseeable future before we can start thinking about ‘Tallica family reunions around the world.

We’re all putting safety first, self-isolating and socially distancing, but not forever! With that said, the South American shows originally planned for April are in the process of moving to December, Greta Van Fleet is going to stay on board to take this ride with us, and we’ll be hitting each and every city, but a few venues may have changed. We’ll be back later this week with the new dates and details about tickets, venues and everything you need to know to help you make plans.

For those of you in the States, you know that we have some festival dates planned in May and unfortunately the news is not quite as good. With heavy hearts, we’re here to let you know that Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona and Sonic Temple in Columbus have all been cancelled. There is one bright note; Louder Than Life in Louisville (September 17 – 20) has ADDED a date and we’re excited that we’ll once again be able to partake in the festivities as we’ll be hitting the stage on Thursday, September 17th to kick off what will be four days of live music and good vibes. Additional headliners for the remainder of Louder Than Life will be announced at a later date, please head over to https://dannywimmerpresents.com for all the information. Details regarding refunds and exchanges for the May shows will also be available there this Thursday, March 26th.

Finally, to our friends in Australia and New Zealand, please know that we have not forgotten and you’re still in our hearts and minds. We will make it to your part of the world as soon as we can. We promise!

We’ll sign off for now by sending you our love during these trying times. Here’s to looking back on this period soon with renewed appreciation for all the amazing times together with our extended Metallica family around the world. For now, go hang with your significant others, kids, pets, parents . . . whomever you have in your space. Create your playlists, watch some movies, try some old-fashioned board games and most importantly, stay safe. We’ll keep in touch!

MESSAGE FROM DAVE GROHL Re: FOO FIGHTERS VAN TOUR 2020 DATES POSTPONED

MESSAGE FROM DAVE GROHL

Hi, this is Dave. Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my goddamn leg was falling off?

Well… playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another…

We fuckin’ love you guys. So let’s do this right and rain check shit. The album is done, and it’s fuckin’ killer. The lights and stage are in the trucks, ready to go. The SECOND we are given the go ahead, we’ll come tear shit up like we always do. Promise.

Now go wash your hands.

Dave

The indefatigable Iggy Pop has been going non-stop since touching down two weeks ago in his one-time stomping ground of New York City: He’s performed “We Are The People” with Laurie Anderson at Carnegie Hall and debuted a striking new video for his studio interpretation of that same 1970 Lou Reed poem. He’s returned to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to duet with Jane Birkin on Serge Gainsbourg’s “Elisa” and appeared at the Gainsbourg Tribute at the Beacon Theater. He’s generally maintained a schedule that would fell a rockstar of any age…

… Not least of which was a very special Saturday March 7 coming out party at Perrotin in New York City for a limited, numbered vinyl “Test Pressing” release of his critically lauded album FREE (Loma Vista Recordings), featuring cover art and creative collaboration with Maurizio Cattelan. At the one-day pop-up at Perrotin, Iggy Pop and Maurizio Cattelan signed copies of the special “test pressing” vinyl, now available in 340 numbered units worldwide, including a bonus 7” featuring two unreleased tracks exclusive to this special artistic collaboration: Iggy’s a cappella rendition of “Brahms Lullaby” and “Epistle to Tromba,” a heartfelt ode to a late canine companion. Each copy of this numbered edition of 340 comes enclosed in a resealable Japanese polybag. The Perrotin event also featured books and merchandise spanning Maurizio Cattelan’s career, as well as a series of historic fine art prints of Iggy Pop, courtesy of the Morrison Gallery.

For those who were unable to cross paths with Iggy in the flesh during his NYC gauntlet (and those who were too, why not), Tuesday March 10 will find him hosting an exclusive intimate exploration of FREE filmed at the Youtube Space in New York and streaming exclusively on the Iggy Pop YouTube channel starting at 3pm EST. Join Iggy in conversation with fans fortunate enough to have attended and been taken on a journey deeper into the latest Iggy opus, hailed as “Part of the ongoing Iggy Pop master class in doing things your own way” by GQ.

FREE was originally released September 13, 2019 by Loma Vista Recordings. Featuring collaborators Leron Thomas (trumpet/keys/songwriting/producer) and Noveller (guitar/vocals/producer), the album holds a singular place in Iggy’s canon—and has generated suitably unique praise: The New York Times called the title track “atmospheric and elusive” and praised the song “Sonali” as “a rushing, fluttering, quasi-waltz that hurries toward an undisclosed destination, whimsical but driven.” Rolling Stone regaled Iggy’s performance on the new record, “Pop flexes his baritone, expressing himself more clearly than perhaps ever before.” And The Washington Post noted “Iggy haunts these new songs like a dignified spirit — which might make Free an exposition on death, or transcendence, or both.”

BECK: RECORD STORE DAY EXCLUSIVE DOUBLE A-SIDE VINYL SINGLE

BECK

Uneventful Days (St. Vincent Remix)
No Distraction (Khruangbin Remix)

RECORD STORE DAY EXCLUSIVE
DOUBLE A-SIDE VINYL SINGLE

To commemorate Record Store Day 2020 on April 18, Beck will be releasing a limited edition double-A side 7” vinyl single featuring singular interpretations of two beloved songs from the seven-time GRAMMY-winner’s lauded catalogue:

The first or second of the two A-sides (listener’s choice) is the first vinyl issue of St. Vincent’s remix of “Uneventful Days” a/k/a “quite possibly the best song Beck has made since Morning Phase” (STEREOGUM) from Beck’s current album Hyperspace a/k/a “his best in a decade” (PEOPLE), a reinterpretation that features St. Vincent on guitar, bass and keys in addition to her remixing  duties.

The other first or second A-side (again, depending on your choice) is Khruangbin’s remix of “No Distraction.” Slated for digital release the day before, the RSD 7” will be the vinyl debut of the Houston TX trio’s reconstruction of the deep cut from Beck’s Best Alternative Music Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical GRAMMY-winning 2017 album Colors.

Released November 22, 2019 on Capitol Records, Beck’s current album Hyperspace has been uniformly hailed as yet another creative peak. The ASSOCIATED PRESS raved “There is not a boring moment on the entire album,” USA TODAY added “nearly 30 years and 14 albums into his career, Beck has rarely been better than he is on Hyperspace,” while David Fricke of ROLLING STONE’s 4-star lead review likened Beck’s voice on “Uneventful Days” to “David Bowie’s Major Tom checking in from distant orbit.”

Beck is set to spend a good deal of 2020 touring Hyperspace. His current road regimen kicks off next month at Pharrell Williams’ Something In The Water festival before spending the bulk of the summer in Europe and the UK—where a second night at London’s O2 Academy Brixton was recently added due to popular demand.

PAUL MCCARTNEY: Classic Solo Debut Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Limited Edition Vinyl

Paul McCartney’s Classic Solo Debut

McCartney

Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Limited Edition Vinyl Release for Record Store Day 2020

On April 18, 2020 one of the greatest solo debuts in rock history, Paul McCartney’s McCartney, will receive a special 50th anniversary release in a limited edition half-speed mastered vinyl pressing for
Record Store Day.

Originally released in April 1970, one month before The Beatles’ swansong Let It Be, McCartney saw Paul getting back to basics. Writing every song and playing every instrument (with backing vocals from Linda McCartney), the eponymous album represented a creative rebirth, bursting with new
ideas, experiments, playfulness and freedom. Sonically, McCartney’s bare-bones home recording aesthetic imbued the album with an authentic lo-fi spirit, a much sought after sound that continues to
retain a contemporary edge 50 years on.

In contrast to the professional difficulties that came with the demise of the world’s most iconic band, Paul was personally enjoying the contentment of family life as a newly married father. In a Q&A released at the time, Paul described the theme and feel of the album as, “Home, family, love.” This is
obvious from the opening notes of Lovely Linda throughout the album, with tracks like Every Night and Man We Was Lonely musing on how much Paul’s life had improved—and nowhere more poignantly than on the tour de force Maybe I’m Amazed. Paul’s timeless tribute to Linda would be recognized as one of contemporary music’s great love songs, and remains a staple of Paul’s live set to this day, never failing to inspire tears of joy with its refrain of “Maybe I’m a man in the middle of something that he doesn’t really understand. Maybe I’m a man. Maybe you’re the only woman who
can ever help me. Baby won’t you help me understand”.

Linda’s presence is also felt in the album’s iconic artwork: the front cover’s bowl of cherries photographed by her on holiday in Antigua, and the back cover’s portrait of Paul with daughter Mary as a baby, photographed on the family’s farm in Scotland where some of the album was also written.

50 years and counting, McCartney offers an incredible insight into the mind of one of the world’s greatest ever songwriters. The homespun spirit of the album and Paul’s taste for experimentation capture a unique moment in time: The very first steps of an unparalleled solo career that has seen
Paul McCartney release decades worth of critically acclaimed commercial blockbuster albums including RAM, Band on the Run, Venus and Mars, Tug of War, Pipes of Peace, Flowers in the Dirt, Flaming Pie, Memory Almost Full, NEW and most recently 2018’s #1-charting Egypt Station.

The 50th anniversary Record Store Day limited edition of McCartney was pressed from a master cut by Miles Showell at half speed using the original 1970 master tapes at Abbey Road Studios. It was made as a vinyl specific transfer in high resolution and without digital peak limiting for the best possible reproduction.

Iggy Pop has unveiled a striking and spare new video for “We Are The People,” from his critically lauded album FREE (Loma Vista Recordings). In the wake of last week’s live rendition of the song by Iggy accompanied by Laurie Anderson at Carnegie Hall, the “We Are The People” clip imbues Iggy’s interpretation of a poem written by Lou Reed in 1970 with a riveting new visual dimension. From the opening lines “We are the people without land. We are the people without tradition. We are the people who do not know how to die peacefully and at ease” to the song’s slow fade, the effect of Iggy’s close-up recitation is transfixing.

On Saturday March 7 at Perrotin in New York City, Iggy will release a limited, numbered vinyl “Test Pressing” release of FREEfeaturing cover art and creative collaboration with Maurizio Cattelan. Iggy Pop and Maurizio Cattelan will sign copies of this special “test pressing” vinyl which has been made available in 340 numbered units worldwide, including a bonus 7” featuring two unreleased tracks exclusive to this special artistic collaboration: Iggy’s a cappella rendition of “Brahms Lullaby” and “Epistle to Tromba,” a heartfelt ode to a late canine companion. Each copy of this numbered edition of 340 will be enclosed in a resealable Japanese polybag. Concurrently, Perrotin is excited to present books and merchandise spanning Maurizio Cattelan’s career, as well as a series of historic fine art prints of Iggy Pop, courtesy of the Morrison Gallery.
