Digital Single Out Now
“Too Far Gone?”
Video Directed by Coan “Buddy” Nichols Live Now

Today marks the release of “Too Far Gone? (Live from MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ – August 6, 2023),” a digital single capturing the debut M72 tour performance of the 72 Seasons standout track as played for some 80,000 fans on night two of the tour’s North American opening weekend. Hailed for “its roaring melody” by the OC Register in their review of Metallica’s recent record-breaking weekend at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, “Too Far Gone?” has quickly become a staple of the M72 No Repeat Weekend setlist rotation. Find out for yourself why the song has quickly become a fan favorite by giving “Too Far Gone? (Live from MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ – August 6, 2023)” a listen HERE.

As for the original studio version of “Too Far Gone?”… it’s been reimagined as a music video directed by Coan “Buddy” Nichols (The Original Skateboarder, The Body Corporate, Deathbowl to Downtown, Love Letters to Skateboarding). Through Nichols’ lens, “Too Far Gone?” becomes the score to raw Metallica performance footage intercut with action shots of pro skater Felipe Nunes. The energy levels of the two scenarios feed off one other, resulting in peak after peak of hyperkinetic intensity—plus a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from Tony Hawk, who premiered the video yesterday at: https://youtu.be/T-6Cx-VxXxI

Metallica recently completed the first North American swing of its M72 World Tour September 9 in Glendale AZ. The band will make a headlining appearance October 8 at Power Trip at the Empire Polo Club in Indio CA, before M72 resumes with its next No Repeat Weekend taking place November 3 and 5 at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis MO.

JENNY LEWIS ANNOUNCES THE JOY’ALL BALL TOUR

JENNY LEWIS ANNOUNCES THE JOY’ALL BALL TOUR

WEST COAST SHOWS CONFIRMED FOR NOVEMBER & DECEMBER

VEVO LIVE SESSION FEATURING “CHERRY BABY” NOW LIVE

“Jenny Lewis, it seems, can do it all…Though Lewis shines in stadiums…her superstardom is more apparent up close, a refusal to shrink her charm to fit a venue where guests nearly piled out the door.” – WASHINGTON POST

“Her voice was pristine as ever…in an instant, she could flip to impressive vocal feats, hitting high notes on ‘Red Bull and Hennessy’ that are rarely heard outside of the safety of studios…And the road-ready driving guitar of ‘Love Feel’ felt messier in the best ways, with Lewis fully inhabiting her rock & roll discipleship”  AUSTIN CHRONICLE

“She was a picture of power — a real-life heroine clad in black leather, wind machine touseling her hair.” – AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN

Jenny Lewis’ Infectious Energy Lights Up New York…From her vibrato in the torchy ‘Acid Tongue’ to some genuine grit during ‘The Next Messiah,’ Lewis’ voice was strong but floated effortlessly over the instrumentation. She seemed especially rejuvenated by the new material, finding a pocket for album tracks like ‘Apples and Oranges’ and ‘Cherry Baby’ that made them sound like old favorites…her music, past and future, left everyone smiling.” – VARIETY

As the tail end of 2023 swiftly approaches, Jenny Lewis shows no signs of slowing down. As if the release of her fifth solo album, Joy’All (Blue Note/Capitol Records), scoring her first #1 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart with “Psychos,” hitting the road as support on the Beck and Phoenix co-headline Summer Odyssey tour, in addition to her own headline dates––and now currently on the road for the 20th anniversary Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie co-headline tour––weren’t enough, Lewis is kicking it up a notch with the announcement of the Joy’All Ball Tour–a leg of west coast dates heading into the holiday season.

The new leg of headlining dates will kick off in late November and feature stops along the west coast, including: Ventura (Ventura Music Hall), San Luis Obispo (Fremont Theater), Healdsburg (Little Saint), Eugene (McDonald Theatre), Seattle (Paramount Theatre), Portland (Roseland Theatre), San Francisco (The Warfield), Santa Ana (The Observatory) and Los Angeles (Hollywood Palladium).

General onsale for the Joy’All Ball Tour begins Friday, September 15th at 10am PT, with special guests to be announced. See below for the newly announced dates and head over to https://www.jennylewis.com/#tour to grab your tickets.

Coinciding with the tour news, Jenny has partnered with Vevo to unveil a special live performance of “Cherry Baby” for Vevo Live Sessions, which you can watch now:https://jennylewis.lnk.to/CBVevo

Beastie Boys Square Unveiling Saturday September 9th, Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz to Attend

BEASTIE BOYS SQUARE
Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz to Attend Unveiling
Site of Paul’s Boutique Album Cover Photo
Corner of Ludlow & Rivington Streets, Lower East Side NYC
Saturday, September 9, 12:00p to 2:00 pm

In commemoration of the unveiling of Beastie Boys Square and 50 years of Hip-Hop, Mike Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Adrock), in association with The City of New York and Council Member Chris Marte, will be celebrating in the Lower East Side on September 9 beginning at 12:00 pm. on Rivington Street between Ludlow and Essex Streets. The celebration will go on until 2:00 p.m., and will feature a special guest DJ set by Jon Bless HiFi System, pop-up activations and more.

Diamond and Horovitz will be in attendance for the dedication of Beastie Boys Square, a renaming of the corner of Ludlow and Rivington Streets, the site where the iconic gatefold cover of the band’s sophomore album Paul’s Boutique was shot.

The christening of Beastie Boys Square marks another milestone in Beastie Boys’ decades-long relationship with New York City. Beastie Boys and NYC have been inextricably intertwined since the band was formed at the late Adam “MCA” Yauch’s 17th birthday in uptown Manhattan, quickly becoming a staple of the city’s hardcore punk underground. The relationship grew in depth and complexity as the trio’s debut album Licensed to Ill became the first rap record to hit #1 on the US album chart, reaching an early apex with the 1989 release of Paul’s Boutique. Sorely under-appreciated upon its original release, Paul’s Boutique has since grown dramatically in stature — often referred to as the “Sgt. Pepper’s of hip hop,” certified double platinum by the RIAA for sales of 2 million, and appearing on all-time best-of lists including TIME, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, SPIN, and many more.

Paul’s Boutique also carries the distinction of being arguably the Beastie Boys album most steeped in New York culture (despite being recorded in Los Angeles), with lyrical references including the Ramones, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, the Village, Chrystie Street, the D Train, Ed Koch, the Knicks, the Yankees, Shea Stadium, the Palladium, Phil Rizzuto, the Atlantic Antic, the New York Post, El Diario, Bernard Goetz, Broadway, Jazzy Jay, Bad Brains, and more.

Additionally, the ongoing celebration of the 50 years of Hip-Hop includes the cinema debut of the Apple Original Film Beastie Boys Story, directed by Beastie Boys collaborator and Academy Award winner Spike Jonze, at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village with showings on both Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9 at 11:30pm.

And last, but certainly not least, SiriusXM will be relaunching their exclusive Beastie Boys Channel this Thursday, September 7th. Tune in to channel 105 for classics, deep cuts, live recordings and more.

To say that Nirvana‘s third and ultimately final studio album In Utero was one of the most impactful records of the modern era would be an understatement. Originally released September 21, 1993, In Utero‘s unadorned sonic rawness was received by critics and fans with equal measures of shock and elation, as Steve Albini‘s recording laid bare every primal nuance of the most confrontational yet vulnerable material Kurt CobainKrist Novoselic and Dave Grohl would ever record. And with its 1991 predecessor Nevermind having sold some 30 million copies and causing a seismic pop cultural shift, In Utero was essentially the first record Nirvana would make with any expectations from the public.  So from the opening quasi-shamble melodics of “Serve The Servants” through the bittersweet closing strains of “All Apologies,” In Utero was the sound of the most incredible yet conflicted musical force of the era at the peak of its powers coming to terms with a generational spokes-band mantle they’d never seen coming—and ultimately surmounting these struggles to make the record they needed to make.

In Utero went on to mark Nirvana’s first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified 6x platinum in the United States.

Geffen/UMe commemorates the 30th anniversary of In Utero with several multi-format reissues, arriving on October 27, 2023. Configurations include a limited-edition 8LP Super Deluxe box set, 5CD Super Deluxe box set, 1 LP + 10” edition, 2CD Deluxe edition, and a Digital Super Deluxe edition.

Pre-order/Pre-save Nirvana – In Utero: 30th Anniversary HERE.

The three Super Deluxe Edition releases comprise a total of 72 tracks with 53 previously unreleased tracks. Among the unreleased material, two full In Utero-era concerts, namely Live In Los Angeles (1993) and the band’s final Seattle performance, Live In Seattle(1994), are included in addition to six bonus live tracks from Rome, Springfield, and New York. Seattle producer and engineer Jack Endino—who helmed the band’s 1988 debut Bleach—reconstructed the live tracks from stereo soundboard tapes for this year’s reissue. Additionally, In Utero’s original twelve songs, along with five bonus tracks and B-sides, have been newly remastered from the original analog master stereo tapes by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Services—who assisted Albini as the only other engineer at the original sessions.

Check out the full tracklisting below.

The physical Super Deluxe Edition box sets also boast a removable front-cover acrylic panel with the album’s iconic Angel; a 48-page hardcover book with unreleased photos; a 20-page newly designed fanzine; a Los Angeles tour poster lithograph by hot rod artist Coop; replicas of the 1993 record store promo Angel mobile, three gig fliers, two ticket stubs for Los Angeles and Seattle, an All-Access tour laminate, and four cloth sticky tour backstage passes: Press, Photo, After Show, and Local Crew.

Available exclusively at online stores at uDiscovermusic.com and SoundofVinyl.com and limited to 3000 units worldwide, fans who buy either Super Deluxe Edition will receive a Nirvana acrylic stand to display their angel-on-acrylic panel included in both boxset configurations.

Nirvana recorded In Utero over the course of six days in February 1993 at Pachyderm Studio in Cannon Falls, MN with Albini. Retrospectively, Pitchfork rated it a rare perfect score of “10.0” and wrote, In Utero is the sort of painful shock that, paradoxically, reinstills the empowering sensation of feeling alive. Upon its arrival back in 1993, David Fricke wrote in Rolling Stone, “In Utero is a lot of things—brilliant, corrosive, enraged and thoughtful, most of them all at once. But more than anything, it’s a triumph of the will.

Be on the lookout for more news about In Utero: 30TH Anniversary Edition very soon.

DANGER MOUSE & JEMINI RELEASE NEW SINGLE “BORN AGAIN,” ALBUM OUT TOMORROW

DANGER MOUSE & JEMINI

“Born Again” Single OUT NOW
Born Again – Album Out Tomorrow

Celebrated producer and musician Danger Mouse and talented New York rapper Jemini (aka Jemini The Gifted One) have released shimmering single, “Born Again” – listen here

“Born Again” is a bouncy-yet-bittersweet hip-hop track inspired by redemption and overcoming adversity; the single follows the swaggering “Brooklyn Bazquiat” and is the title track of the duo’s second album.

Danger Mouse & Jemini’s Born Again album was recorded back in 2004, yet has remained unreleased for nearly two decades now.  This previously unheard and long-delayed record will finally be made available tomorrow (25th August) via Lex Records.  The release coincides with the twentieth anniversary of Danger Mouse & Jemini’s 2003 debut LP – and Danger Mouse’s first official release on a record label – hip-hop cult classic, Ghetto Pop Life.

Read more about the backstory to Born Again here.

“Born Again is everything you could hope for and more with Danger Mouse laying down a varying display of his talents while Jemini’s verses are delivered with pure passion.” – GLIDE MAGAZINE

“The track opens the door to a hip-hop era long gone.” – CONSEQUENCE (on “Brooklyn Bazquiat”)

“It’s a bold, confident, boom bap song with a fun flute loop and the hook plays off the same Slick Rick interpolation as Biggie’s ‘Hypnotize.’” – BROOKLYN VEGAN (on “Brooklyn Bazquiat”)

GHOST DEVOTIONAL POP-UP
Confess Your Sins at the GRAMMY Museum August 21 through September 17

As Ghost’s September 11-12  headline stand at the Kia Forum looms ever closer, the GRAMMY Museum® in Los Angeles has unveiled the Ghost Devotional Pop-Up.  As the faithful await the return of Papa Emeritus IV and co. to the City of Angels, they are invited to enter the hand crafted, custom built confession booth and bare their souls about why they think Ghost are the best rock band in the world!  Make amends and leave atoned, with a souvenir photo of the experience.

The Ghost Devotional Pop-Up was designed and fabricated by Justin Ware of Creativeware (Beastie Boys Exhibit at Orange County Museum of Art) and built by carpenter/welder Greg S. Gilday (The Mandalorian, Tenet, Westworld). The custom created structure will be accompanied by a museum installation displaying Papa Emeritus III’s outfit worn at the 2015 GRAMMYs® —the year Ghost took the Best Metal Performance award for “Cirice” from the band’s third album, Meliora.

The Ghost Devotional Pop Up will be open to GRAMMY Museum visitors through September 17. Ghost’s RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 continues through September 12–remaining dates as follows:

ABOUT GHOST:

GHOST continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring  the “euphoric spectacle” (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from the Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had “conquered metal and the charts” when its fifth album IMPERA debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a “sweetly constructed rock tune” by THE NEW YORK TIMES and recently reimagined with Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, the #7 YouTube trending GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” — IMPERA finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee Prequelle—or as ROLLING STONE put it, “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of IMPERA’s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making IMPERA a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost. Ghost closed out 2022 by cracking the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, with the RIAA gold-certified “Mary on a Cross.” Earlier this year, in the wake of IMPERA winning Favorite Rock Album at the American Music Awards and Best Rock Album of the Year at the iHeart Radio Music Awards, Ghost unveiled PHANTOMIME, a five-song covers EP intended from the start to follow IMPERA. A diverse and spellbinding sampling of Ghost’s musical DNA, PHANTOMIME is comprised of covers of classics and deep cuts by Television, Genesis, The Stranglers, Iron Maiden and Tina Turner. PHANTOMIME pays tribute in equal measure to every one of these unique influences while stamping them all with Ghost’s undeniable sonic signature. Currently, Ghost is in the midst of a triumphant return to North America, in the form of its RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023, making stops in more than two dozen cities before its two-night finale the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 11th and 12th.

The End Is Nero North American Tour Kicks Off Tonight in Detroit

Inaugural Queens Colosseum Pre-Show Bacchanal to Descend Upon Toronto

Queens of the Stone continue to prove themselves  “a band reaching the peak of their powers” (NME). Following a triumphant reign over some of the UK and Europe’s most hallowed festival grounds including “officially one of the most-watched Glasto sets ever – Josh Homme and co. pulled a huge crowd and unleashed pure chaotic joy” (Kerrang), Queens of the Stone Age are back with the latest audiovisual odyssey from their international chart-topping opus In Times New Roman… a brand new video for “Negative Space.”  As with previous videos from this campaign, “Negative Space” was created by, starring and directed by Liam Lynch, who states:

“Acceptance is lonely, messy, and tough, especially when it’s all that is left. This video takes place between the end and a beginning. It’s the desperate and lost, message-in-a-bottle emotions that are tossed out and let float away. No action required.”

Prepare to dodge some cosmic debris and take a trip to “Negative Space” here.

In the wake of In Times New Roman… achieving global domination — including #1s in four countries, top 3 positions in six more and a sweep of US #1s across the Vinyl, Independent, Alternative, Digital, Rock and Hard Music Album Sales charts — Queens of the Stone Age kick off the extensive North American leg of their The End Is Nero tour tonight at Detroit’s Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill with special guests The Armed and Phantogram. With several shows already sold out, Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore will continue to span the globe through the end of 2023. To get your tickets now go to https://qotsa.com/tour/

Queens of the Stone Agealso extend a formal invite to their inaugural Queens Colosseum pre-show party experience, taking place August 4th in Toronto at Budweiser Stage  — ahead of the band’s headlining show. Fans are encouraged to “Dance Like No One is Surviving,” as they immerse themselves in a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a Queens of the Stone Age curated extravaganza including an exclusive merchandise line, burlesque dancers, local vendors featuring everything from books to records to oddities and art, live silk-screen printing, vintage clothing and more. The Queens Colosseum event starts at 4PM and runs through the start of the show, with access available to ticket purchasers only.

DANGER MOUSE & JEMINI ANNOUNCE ALBUM AND SHARE SINGLE, “BROOKLYN BASQUIAT”

Danger Mouse & Jemini
Announce Release of Born Again
First Single “Brooklyn Basquiat” Available Now

Danger Mouse & Jemini by Maya Hayuk

Celebrated producer and musician Danger Mouse and talented New York rapper Jemini Have announced the long-delayed release of their Born Again album — recorded in 2004 but previously unheard until now — available to the public after 20 years in the vault on 25th August via Lex Records. Remarkably, the release comes nearly two decades after the album’s creation and coincides with the twentieth anniversary of the duo’s debut LP, hip-hop cult classic, Ghetto Pop Life.

In tandem with the news, Danger Mouse and Jemini have shared lead single, “Brooklyn Basquiat.” The bouncing, vibrant track is available here.

Back in 2003, Danger Mouse and Jemini dropped their debut album, and Danger Mouse’s first official release on a record label, Ghetto Pop Life; a rap spectacular which quickly became widely-celebrated.  As well as being one of the finest rap offerings of the era, Ghetto Pop Life foreshadowed Danger Mouse’s later triumphs including The Grey Album, his production work for Gorillaz and A$AP Rocky, and collaborations with CeeLo as Gnarls Barkley, MF DOOM for DANGERDOOM plus his most recent hip-hop offering, 2022’s Cheat Codes alongside Black Thought.

Soon after finishing Ghetto Pop Life, Danger Mouse and Jemini began to write and record their second album, Born Again.  Having been indefinitely shelved, Born Again will now finally be released worldwide this August. The previously unheard record retains many of the elements of Danger Mouse and Jemini’s debut – most notably the fun-loving, sh*t-talking innocence – but also adopts a markedly more introspective and confessional tone.  This time, in addition to lighthearted topics such as being an incredible artist, living large and being a magnet for attention, Jemini also delivers highly-personal and occasionally devastating lyrics about missed opportunities and redemption, his time in prison and complicated relationship with his father.

Danger Mouse & Jemini Born Again tracklist:

01.  All I
02.  Locked Up
03.  Me
04.  Knuckle Sandwich II
05.  Born Again
06.  Brooklyn Basquiat
07.  Walk the Walk
08.  Where You From
09.  Dear Poppa
10.  World Music

METALLICA, PANTHEON MEDIA & POPCULT Present: THE METALLICA REPORT, Weekly Podcast

METALLICA, PANTHEON MEDIA & POPCULT
Present
THE METALLICA REPORT
Weekly Podcast Featuring News, Updates, Exclusive Features and Surprises from Metallica HQ and Beyond

Today marks the debut episode of The Metallica Report, a new podcast offering weekly insider updates on all things Metallica. Broadcasting directly from the band’s Northern California headquarters, The Metallica Report will be hosted by two of the closest members of the Metallica family: Steffan Chirazi, whose history with Metallica spans from covering the band as journalist in the ‘80s to his current role as editor of the band’s online mag, So What!, and Renée Richardson, Director of Philanthropy for the band’s All Within My Hands foundation, and well-known Bay Area radio personality.

Each episode of The Metallica Report will feature Steffan and Renée keeping listeners informed with the latest news and updates from Metallica HQ, as well as dispatches from the road as the M72 Tour continues to make its way around the world. The Report’s mini-features will offer exclusive behind the scenes news and interviews with the likes of the touring crew, poster and T-shirt artists, fans, and even James, Lars, Kirk and Robert themselves.

In addition to the most inside and up to date Metallica news, The Metallica Report will be taking requests: Listeners are encouraged to submit questions, and Steffan and Renée will do their best to offer answers every Wednesday.

The Metallica Report is produced and distributed by Pantheon Media and reunites the Metallica team with co-producers PopCult, with whom they worked on 2021’s The Metallica Podcast: Volume 1.

“PopCult is excited to be working again with Metallica to expand their podcast footprint and to launch our first partnership with Pantheon,” says PopCult partner Lars Murray. “Metallica and their global community are inexhaustible sources of interesting news and stories. The Metallica Report will be a ‘must-listen’ for longtime fans, as well as folks who might be diving in for the first time.”

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Metallica to produce a weekly news podcast that will give fans an inside look at the band’s world,” says Christian Swain, CEO of Pantheon Media. “The Metallica Report represents an exciting new chapter for Pantheon, as we continue to push the boundaries of audio entertainment with our partner PopCult. Metallica’s standing as one of the most influential bands in music history, along with their commitment to their global community of fans, makes them the perfect partner for us.”

About Steffan Chirazi
The editor of Metallica’s So What! Magazine, Steffan Chirazi has been writing about—and working with—the band since 1984. He has also written for many publications worldwide, including Kerrang! and the San Francisco Chronicle, interviewed literally hundreds of stars from David Bowie to Kurt Cobain, and provides a continual chronicle of Lars, James, Kirk, Rob and Metallica since the days of Ride The Lightning. About Renée Richardson
Renée Richardson is the Director of Philanthropy for Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands. While this is her most significant professional achievement to date, Renée also has a long history on the airwaves in San Francisco. Renée’s radio career began in the late 90s as Renée Rotten on KITS/LIVE 105, and a few years later, she rebranded as Renée Richardson and joined the KFOG Morning Show. Her 17 years as a “Foghead” were spent as an on-air announcer, music programmer, and she cultivated the Bay Area’s music scene as assistant producer of the KFOG Local Scene series. After an unexpected showing of the door by Cumulus Media in 2016, Renée prioritized philanthropy. She spent three incredible years as Director of Development for Blue Bear School of Music, a 501(c)(3) music school in San Francisco, while also working with “Irish” Greg McQuaid to create Renée & Irish Greg’s Pop-Up Show, an immersive live and in-person podcast featuring music, conversation, and a fundraising element for various NPOs. When the call came, she was positioned perfectly to take on her new role with Metallica’s foundation. Renée is a Missouri School of Auction trained auctioneer and a voice actor best known for her role as a Chevron talking car. She lives with her husband, Mike, and a toothless chihuahua named Rocco.
