THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE™ MOBILE RECORD SHOP, LIVE VENUE, DJ BOOTH ETC. TO DESCEND ON AUSTIN FOR SXSW MARCH 16-20

The one-of-a-kind mobile record shop, potential live venue, DJ/merch booth and more that is THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE™ will begin a roving celebration of  the  Third Man label’s two year anniversary by rolling into Austin TX and setting up shop in various locations throughout the March 16-20 music portion of SXSW.

Since opening doors in Nashville two years back, Third Man Records has had an enormously productive run, releasing over 80 records in a mind-boggling array of limited editions and vinyl innovations, hosting an incredible live venue where bands can record direct to analog tape, launching The Vault subscription service, opening a succession of pop-up shops.

And now for their latest and greatest feat, the good folks of Nashville will be bringing the Third Man experience to the people in the form of THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE™. A brief glimpse of the store at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGkDhQKHTZo can give viewers an idea of how much blood, sweat, and tears went into this machine. THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE™ is a one-of-a-kind, true innovation in the world of record distribution and retail and the TMR staff can’t wait to get it out on the road. Some of the truck’s features include:

  • A full menu of Third Man merchandise including 45s, LPs, just like the label’s record shop in Nashville, and all new (and exclusive to the truck) Rolling Record Store™ collectibles and souvenirs including t-shirts, tote bags, drinking accessories and all kinds of flare
  • two turntables and a microphone, the store will be playing from vinyl records from the TMR catalog as people shop, with guest DJs doing special sets
  • a high quality PA and amplification system with 8 channel mixer and electric outlets so singers and even full bands can plug straight into the truck from the outside and play wherever and whenever  the truck parks.
  • Fully customized styling designed by Jack White in conjunction with an auto custom shop to reflect the look, feel, and panache of Third Man Records’ Nashville location and its famous pop up stores.

Following its debut at SXSW (details, locations etc. to be announced shortly), THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE™ will be out on the road regularly, hitting shows and festivals and more. For its SXSW run, those who track the store down can expect musical performances, guest DJs, exclusive records and merchandise (including 4 different tri-colors), giveaways and plenty of surprises.

Be vigilant, SXSW attendees. You don’t want to let THE THIRD MAN ROLLING RECORD STORE™ pass you by…

THIRD MAN RECORDS JOINS THE NASTY LITTLE MAN FAMILY

New Green Series 45s From Jerry King and Amy Walker Out Now
New Blue Series 45s From Pokey LaFarge and We Are Hex Out Mid-March

nasty little man is proud and elated to welcome Jack White and Third Man Records to our family.

The alliance coincides neatly with Third Man’s February 22 release of two new installments of its spoken word/instructional Green Series. Joining the esteemed company of past Green Series participants BP Fallon and Conan O’Brien is Amy Walker, an actress known worldwide for her expertise in the field of replicating accents from all over the globe, as evidenced by the 5 million-plus views of her “21 Accents” video on YouTube–not to mention appearances on the Today Show and Inside Edition.

The A-side of Amy’s Green Series single showcases her wide selection of different accents, both in an improvisational rolling internal dialogue and a reading from a random article in the local newspaper, each sentence in a different inflection. The B-side features her being interviewed by Jack White on a variety of topics. The Amy Walker single will be released in an unprecedented 30 different sleeves, each one depicting Amy as a different persona or character.

Also out this week is a Green Series 45 from from Fletcher, NC master auctioneer Jerry King. Whether selling farm equipment, real estate, vintage autos or homemade baked goods, Jerry is truly one of the world’s greatest auctioneers.  Jerry’s single starts off with a fascinating 8-minute interview conducted by Jack White that probes deep into the history, cadence, rhythm and speed of Jerry’s auctioneering. The flipside is both a vinyl rarity and a first for Third Man: 2 separate tracks on 2 separate grooves. Depending on where the listener drops the needle, he or she will be greeted with Jerry King setting up one of two hypothetical auctions:  an automobile auction or a tobacco/chocolate cake auction.

Both the Jerry King and Amy Walker Green Series 45s will be available via the Third Man Records store, in all fine independent record stores, and iTunes worldwide on February 22nd. Details will be available soon re: limited edition Tri Color editions of these singles.

The middle of March will mark the release of two more singles from Third Man’s Blue Series: Pokey LaFarge And The South City Three’s “Chittlin’ Cookin’ Time in Cheatham County”/“Pack It Up” and We Are Hex’s “Twist The Witch’s Titty” / “Through The Doldrums To The Dum Dums”

Hailing from St. Louis MO, Pokey LaFarge is a traditional American music purist who dabbles in everything from jazz, string ragtime, country blues, and western swing. Musically timeless and stylistically original, Pokey and his band blend all of these styles of music into something new and swinging. His booming voice has an incredible range that has to be heard to believed.

Since 2009, Indianapolis IN’s We Are Hex has written and recorded on their own frequency from their home and studio, The Hex Hause. Described somewhere between The Stooges and The Cure, We Are Hex is scratching, creeping, dirty slop – refreshingly raw, honest and urgent—and now responsible for possibly the two most interesting song titles in the brief history of the Third Man Blue Series!

Exact release date and news re: limited edition Tri Color releases of these singles will be made available as confirmed. The songs are currently available for listening on the Third Man Monkey Band at the label’s Nashville record shop, for the price of a quarter.
