AFI I HEARD A VOICE: LIVE FROM THE LONG BEACH ARENA OUT NOVEMBER 13

2006-2007 marked the undeniable apex of AFI’s unrelenting 15-year climb: AFI’s seventh album, DECEMBERUNDERGROUND, entered the Billboard 200 at #1, the smash single “Miss Murder” nabbed the 2006 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video, the band made a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE appearance and swept ROLLING STONE, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, BLENDER, ALTERNATIVE PRESS and REVOLVER’s Best of 2006 lists.

Throughout all of this, however, it was the AFI live experience that catapulted the band to arena status, as they wrapped the first leg of their U.S. headline tour by selling out the Long Beach Arena and SF’s Bill Graham Civic in record time. On November 13, the release of I Heard A Voice: Live From The Long Beach Arena will provide an aural document of the aforementioned Long Beach show.

The connection between AFI and its fans–many of whom belong to the fiercely loyal Despair Faction–in the live setting is absolute. As documented on I Heard A Voice, every single audience member is as emotionally invested in the show as the band members themselves. And much like their recorded output, the unique AFI live ritual has captured the attention of the mainstream: THE LOS ANGELES TIMES’ review of southern California radio giant KROQ’s Christmas show gave AFI “the show’s MVP award,” while SPIN recently named AFI one of the current music world’s “Greatest Live Bands.”
