AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS CELEBRATE THEIR 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
GIDDY UP/BIG ATTRACTION SPECIAL EDITION VINYL & CD OUT MAY 22nd VIA VIRGIN MUSIC GROUP
PRE-ORDER NOW

Ten years ago, in a sharehouse on Chapel Street, four 20-year-olds with zero expectations wrote and recorded an EP in a single afternoon. Those six blistering minutes of music became Giddy Up. An hour later, Amyl and The Sniffers had a name, a Bandcamp upload, and the beginnings of a legacy.
Following a year of backyard gigs, playing for friends and partying across Melbourne’s sticky carpet music scene, the band released their iconic second EP Big Attraction in 2017. Now, to celebrate a decade of raw power and reckless spirit, Giddy Up/Big Attraction returns in a definitive 10th anniversary 12-inch vinyl edition — fully remastered for maximum punch. Featuring early classics like ‘I’m Not A Loser’ and ‘Stole My Pushbike’, plus enduring live favorites ‘Balaclava Lover Boogie’ and ‘Westgate’ this is the sound of Amyl and The Sniffers before the world caught up — feral, funny, and unstoppable.
The LP is housed in a gatefold sleeve showcasing Chris Sutherland’s iconic 2017 band photo, alongside an exclusive new essay from Amy Taylor and a heap of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes shots from the band’s earliest days by Jamie Wdziekonski.
As Amy recalls: “We recorded and wrote over the afternoon… we’d never played together before that day… it’s spontaneous, and fun and achievable in that time because to us it sounded more than good and we weren’t perfectionists and it didn’t matter.”
From DIY house shows in Melbourne to international stages, it all started here.

ABOUT AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS
In the ten years since Amyl and The Sniffers came together in Melbourne’s sticky pub-rock scene, Amyl and The Sniffers have become masters of balancing power and playfulness. With three critically acclaimed albums under their belt alongside numerous awards and accolades – 2019’s self-titled debut and 2021’s visceral Comfort To Me and 2024’s Cartoon Darkness – vocalist Amy Taylor, guitarist Declan Mehrtens, bassist Gus Romer and drummer Bryce Wilson have achieved something unique and remarkable. They are unmistakably “Aussie”, down-to-earth and true to their roots. They are also one of the most exciting young rock bands on the planet.
The band’s live audiences have grown even faster than their reputation, taking them around the world on sold-out tours several times over, playing ever-larger venues throughout Europe, North America and beyond, with recent shows stretching from Mexico to India to Japan. From grassroots clubs shows to major concert halls, the band has become a regular mainstage and headline feature of festivals including Primavera, Glastonbury, Coachella, Green Man, Osheaga, Outside Lands, Best Keep Secret, All Points East and dozens more; and been called up for European and US stadium supports with the likes of Green Day and Foo Fighters, and more recently opening for acts AC/DC, Turnstile, Fontaines D.C & Kneecap @ Finsbury Park. As a live act, the word is well and truly out: if you need a band to decimate a stage, you call Amyl and The Sniffers.
Since the release of Comfort to Me, the band has seen their horizons broaden exponentially in every way. And it’s this attitude – bigger, brighter, smarter, sharper – that fuelled their third album, Cartoon Darkness. Recorded with producer Nick Launay at Foo Fighters’ 606 Studios in Los Angeles, on the same desk that captured Nirvana’s Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, the latest Amyl offering is full of surprises. Musically, Mehrtens, Romer and Wilson have written The Sniffers’ most diverse album yet. It stretches from classic punk to the glammy strut of recent single ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ to the stormy balladry of ‘Big Dreams’ (which is a sonic gear shift worthy of the title).
The band have walked away since with a Grammy-nomination for ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’, and will kick off another huge US and EU tour run starting in June.
