Tickets On Sale Friday, April 14 at 10am Local Time
Hot off the back to back release of two of the most acclaimed albums of the year—The Shins’ Heartworms (Aural Apothecary/Columbia Records) and Spoon’s Hot Thoughts (Matador)—two pioneering acts whose singular styles defined the sounds of the early aughts and mid-90s respectively will join forces for four once-in-a-lifetime dates.
The Shins and Spoon bill will hit the following cities on the following dates:
Sept. 30 – Berkeley CA – Greek Theater
Oct. 1 – San Diego CA – Cal Coast Credit Union (OAT)
Oct. 3 – Phoenix AZ – Comerica Theater
Oct. 5 – Denver CO – Red Rocks Amphitheater
Tickets will be on sale to the public beginning Friday, April 14 at 10am local time.
Produced by James Mercer, The Shins’ fifth album, Heartworms, was released March 10 to a wave of critical acclaim: Entertainment Weekly called Heartworms the “band’s boldest album yet” and “a rewarding and singular addition to the Shins’ catalog,” Rolling Stone lauded its “home-brewed feel, heavy on Beach Boys grandeur, New Wave kicks, squiggly synth-pop and warm-weather soft rock – with lyrics tenderly balanced between midlife malaise and youthful romanticism. The result is some of the most charming music he’s ever made,” while Time magazine opined “Heartworms works on a grander scale, with ornate sonic tableaux.” Mercer and crew celebrated the release of Heartworms by launching a competition to win the band’s original touring vehicle, the same sweet 1990 Ford 350 Clubwagon in which they gave Stephen Colbert a ride during their week of release Late Show appearance. To date, 100+ aspiring artists have entered #ShinsVanContest, each submitting a cover version of one of Heartworms’ instant classics. To enter, visit theshins.com/van and submit a video of you or your band covering a track from Heartworms using the hashtag #ShinsVanContest.
Spoon’s ninth album and fourth in a row to crack the U.S. Top 10, Hot Thoughts, landed the following week to yet another cavalcade of critical ecstasy: Rolling Stone awarding it a 4-star rating, New York magazine hailing Spoon as “incapable of releasing a bad record” and Entertainment Weekly agreeing the band “couldn’t make a bad record if they tried,” while The Ringer cited “a case to be made for Spoon being the greatest rock band of the 21st century.” Spoon commemorated Hot Thoughts’ release week with a trio of shows in their hometown of Austin TX that were the talk of this year’s SXSW festival. The band managed to sneak a film crew past the fire marshalls fighting back the droves at the jam packed SXSW gigs, and the resultant video for the album’s “fascinating” (Stereogum) “scorcher” (Vulture) of a title track captures Spoon in all its raw power and glory. See the “Hot Thoughts” video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrLVAQYfeZ4&feature=youtu.be. These four shows with The Shins are sure to be highlights of an ongoing world tour taking Hot Thoughts‘ “after-dark explorations undertaken in thrilling ways” (Time Magazine) to all corners of the globe, as the new album has achieved the highest chart positions of the band’s 20+ year career in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Portugal, Austria and Switzerland.
“Moving documentary delving into the artistry of a dark soul” Uncut
“An undeniably moving contemplation of shattering loss” The Guardian
“Dominik’s experimental collaboration finds the rock-umentary reborn. Experience it” Empire
One More Time Feeling, the feature film about the making of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ acclaimed album Skeleton Tree, is released today on DVD and 2D and 3D Blu-ray.
Directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford), One More Time With Feeling is a stark, fragile and raw documentary. Shot in 3D, colour and black & white, this visually unique film probes the deeply personal circumstances surrounding the making of Skeleton Tree (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ 16th studio album) and features live-in-studio performances by the band.
Originally conceived as a one-night-only screening event in 950 cinemas (across 30 countries simultaneously) on 8th September last year, this extraordinary film has now screened over 1700 times at over 1000 cinemas world-wide, and its initial run was extended over several days as cinemas sold out around the world.
One More Time With Feeling is the first ever non-animated B&W film shot in 3D. On 31st March 2017, this filmic milestone will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and a Limited Edition 3D Blu-ray. All formats of One More Time With Feeling come as two-disc editions, with additional previously unseen footage.
Skeleton Tree, the 16th studio album by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, was released on 9th September 2016, the day after the global premiere of One More Time With Feeling. Skeleton Tree charted at number 1 in 8 countries, has been certified Silver in the UK (BPI), and, according to Metacritic, was the best-reviewed album of 2016.
Recently nominated for a 2017 BRIT Award, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds remain one of the most critically extolled acts working today and have sold over 5 million albums worldwide. Their influence has been profound and far-reaching and they are one of the most powerful and exciting live acts in the world.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ eight piece touring line up features Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, Thomas Wydler, Jim Sclavunos, Conway Savage, George Vjestica and Larry Mullins.

Following the release of their ninth studio album Hot Thoughts (Matador Records), Spoon has added dozens of tour dates to the North American leg of their tour. Tickets for all dates except Savannah are on sale Friday at 10am local time.
“Hot Thoughts finds Spoon at the peak of their considerable powers …cementing their place in the firmament of undeniably great rock bands.”-UNCUT
“Spoon never fails to hit its mark – delivered forcefully, and with hooks for days.”-NPR
“the title track from their ninth album… rises and falls like an orchestral disco opus, with singer Britt Daniel first unleashing a mechanized croon over a simple beat and trembling strings that bursts with a flourish of guitars. ‘Hot Thoughts’ grows vibrant with each peak and closes with Daniel wailing over a euphoric vamp.”-ROLLING STONE
If the new Spoon single “Can I Sit Next To You” feels eerily familiar, like something that’s been playing in the background of your life for the last few months, there’s actually a good chance it has: For the last few months, a campaign of subliminal placements of “Can I Sit Next To You” has seen the unreleased, unidentifiable track being played at various clubs and venues, as American Airlines boarding music, even by the house bands of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The mystery is solved today, as the song has been revealed and released as the second single from Spoon’s upcoming ninth album Hot Thoughts, out March 17 on Matador Records.
“Can I Sit Next To You” follows on the album’s first single and title track-and its mystical Aura Reader –with a sleek, steady-paced groove, as eerie bits of synth skitter around the chorus. “Can I Sit Next To You” is available now at http://smarturl.it/Stream_Can_I_Sit.
To accompany the new single, Spoon has unveiled a new video, directed by Marcel Dzama, the acclaimed contemporary artist whose previous musical collaborators have included the likes of Beck and Bob Dylan, not to mention last year’s costume and stage design for the New York City Ballet’s The Most Incredible Thing. The “Can I Sit Next To You” video can be seen here.
Spoon has added several dates to the recently announced world tour that kicks off February 27 with an intimate one-off at London’s legendary 100 Club and includes a marquee date at the Hollywood Bowl. After a pair of dates in Australia during the week of the album release, Spoon will be bringing Hot Thoughts to the South with stops in Tampa, Orlando, Charleston, Raleigh and more, marking the beginning of a busy year of touring for the band. Pre-sales for the new dates (in bold below) begin February 22 at local time, with tickets going on sale to the general public on February 24 at 10am local time.
Don’t forget-for those heading to SXSW, be sure to catch the band’s three-night release week SXSW residency at “The Main”, where Spoon will be curating an individual line up each night March 14-16. See below for a full list of dates and keep up with Spoon on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and of course spoontheband.com.

Weeklong St. Valentines Massacre To Include Apollo Theater Show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Intimate In-Store Appearance
Just as the songs on his anxiously awaited new album Prisoner (out this Friday, February 17 on PAX AM/Blue Note) gave him no choice but to be their vessel, Ryan Adams will not be deterred from making you his Valentine this week.
Having just appeared on Monday’s episode of WTF with Marc Maron, Ryan’s full frontal assault on your heart will escalate with a Valentines Day twofer: Ryan will be your very own Valentines Day guest DJ on NPR’s ALL SONGS CONSIDERED, the same day that NPR FIRST LISTEN will preview in full the album that NEW YORK Magazine hailed as “the best thing he’s put out in a decade,” ROLLING STONE called “close to the magnum opus of his dreams” and STEREOGUM just cautioned “you might find yourself unable to stop listening to.”
Thursday, February 16 Ryan will return to the Apollo Theater. His first appearance at the iconic Harlem venue in nearly 10 years, Ryan and his Band’s show sold out instantly, but don’t be heartbroken: Ryan will be there on your TV screen the very next night, asking if you still love him February 17 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
And if you’re not busy Saturday, February 18 and somehow managed to score a ticket to possibly the most intimate engagement he has played in the NYC area since people have cared, Ryan Adams will be playing a sold out electric set and recently announced 6pm acoustic set at Rough Trade Records in Brooklyn (Acoustic show sales begin February 17 with Prisoner purchases at the store; 1 wristband per album, 2 wristbands maximum–names will be on wristbands).
Ryan will then re-direct his affections to the west coast for two more in-store appearances–February 20 at Fingerprints in Long Beach, CA (sold out) and February 22 at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles (admission requires album purchase in store at Hollywood Amoeba Music starting February 17-before appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden on February 23.
Bowie’s 28th and Final Album Wins GRAMMY Awards for Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Recording Package, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
David Bowie’s 28th and final album, ★ (ISO/Columbia), has been certified gold in the U.S. by the RIAA for sales in excess of 500,000 units.
Additionally, ★ won in every one of the five categories in which it was nominated at this weekend’s 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards: Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Recording Package, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
Bowie and ★ have also garnered two Brit Awards nominations: British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year.
Released January 8, 2016, Bowie’s 69th birthday and two days before his death, ★ has only grown in stature, establishing itself as a critical and commercial high point of Bowie’s immortal catalogue alongside the likes of Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Low, “Heroes,” Station To Station, Scary Monsters…, Let’s Dance, Heathen, Reality and The Next Day, to name but a few.
Hitting #1 in more than 20 countries (including Bowie’s first #1 in the U.S.), ★ closed out 2016 dominating critics’ year-end best of lists: The album was rated #1 by the AV Club, Flavorwire, The Los Angeles Times, MOJO, Newsweek, Now, Paste, Q, The Wire, Uncut and more, with #2 spots including the BBC, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, NPR and Rolling Stone, and more Best of 2016 placements in major publications than any album released last year.
In anticipation of its forthcoming ninth album heralded by a title track that “rises and falls like an orchestral disco opus” (Rolling Stone), Spoon has launched the “Hot Thoughts” Aura Reader app.
While the Aura Reader name may sound intimidating, the way the web app works is actually quite simple: A fan creates a Spoon Spotify playlist, the Aura Reader analyzes that playlist then creates a individualized version of the Hot Thoughts album cover with different colors in the artwork’s signature watercolor skull, creating a reflection of each fan’s own… wait for it… hot thoughts.
The customized Hot Thoughts skulls can then be used by fans as avatars on Twitter, Instagram, and various other social media.
Spoon will release Hot Thoughts March 17 on Matador Records. Reuniting the band with the label that released their 1996 debut, Telephono, and following on Spoon’s streak of three consecutive Top 10 albums – Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007), Transference (2010) and They Want My Soul (2014) – Hot Thoughts is nothing short of an epic. Co-produced by Spoon and Dave Fridmann, the quartet has created the bravest, most sonically inventive work of the catalogue that has made it the most critically acclaimed act of the first decade of the new millennium (http://www.metacritic.com/feature/best-music-of-the-decade). Within the space of 10 songs, Hot Thoughts creates a musical universe of its own, with individual worlds ranging from the kaleidoscopic opening title track-available to stream here or as an instant download with all pre-orders placed at http://smarturl.it/Spoon_Hot_Thoughts – through the gargantuan stomp of “Do I Have To Talk You Into It” and ubiquitous wiry hooks of “Can I Sit Next To You” to the bittersweetness of “I Ain’t The One” (which recently received a surprise reveal in the penultimate episode of the current season of Showtime’s Shameless) and beyond.
Those in search of new Spoon vinyl can celebrate Valentines Day by pre-ordering exclusive heart-red vinyl at local indie record stores. Exclusive purple vinyl is available at the Matador online store, while various merch bundles featuring vinyl LPs are available directly from Spoon. Details on all vinyl options can be found at http://www.spoontheband.com/.
Spoon has also confirmed a three-night release week SXSW residency for which the band will resurrect the original, classic Austin venue Emo’s location, currently referred to as “The Main,” on March 14, 15 and 16. The band will curate a unique line up each night and will stubbornly be referring to the venue as “Eno’s.”
Spoon has also confirmed additional dates of the impending Hot Thoughts world tour, including a just announced pair of shows with Belle and Sebastian July 30th at Merriweather Post Pavilion (tickets on sale February 17 at Ticketmaster.com) and August 6th at the Hollywood Bowl (http://bit.ly/2lwPJvm for more info). Please continue to check Spoontheband.com for updates.

DAVID BOWIE NO PLAN EP PHYSICAL RELEASE AVAILABLE ON CD FEBRUARY 24 & VINYL APRIL 21 LIMITED EDITION MADE-TO-ORDER DIE-CUT VINYL WITH EXCLUSIVE ARTWORK LITHOGRAPH OUT MAY 26 PRE-ORDERS FOR ALL VERSIONS LIVE NOW
Featuring the three final David Bowie studio recordings during the sessions for his 28th and final album, ★, the No Plan EP is now being made available on CD and special vinyl formats including a limited edition made-to-order numbered die-cut package with White Vinyl and an exclusive artwork lithograph that will be available to pre-order for a limited time only.
Previously released as the No Plan digital EP (and before that, available exclusively on the Lazarus Cast Album), those songs – “No Plan,” “Killing A Little Time” and “When I Met You”— along with ★ single and Cast Album title track “Lazarus”–are now available for pre-order on special physical formats. All vinyl configurations of the No Plan EP feature a special laser etching on side B. The No Plan EP artwork has been designed by longtime Bowie collaborator Jonathan Barnbrook. Earlier this month, the No Plan digital EP reached #1 on the iTunes charts of 11 countries including the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Finland and Sweden, and broke the Top 20 in more than 30 territories.
One minute past midnight on January 8th, the day that would have been David Bowie’s 70th birthday, a subtly stunning video for the song “No Plan” surfaced quietly at http://smarturl.it/noplanvideo. The “No Plan” video has amassed over 2,000,000 views since it’s January 8th premiere. The “No Plan” clip was directed by Tom Hingston, whose previous collaborations with Bowie include the award-winning visual interpretation of the original version of “Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)” from the Nothing Has Changed compilation. The “No Plan” video features a sparse, compelling narrative that reinforces the hypnotic pull of the ballad hailed by Rolling Stone—who ranked it #4 in their 50 Best Songs of 2016–as “a magnificent coda… one last transmission from the Bowie universe.”
In the 12 months since the release of ★, the album has only grown in stature, establishing itself as a critical and commercial high point of David Bowie’s peerless catalogue. Having hit #1 in more than 20 countries (including Bowie’s first #1 in the U.S.), ★ closed out 2016 with five Grammy nominations—Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Recording Package, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical— as well as two Brit Awards nominations – British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year (★) – and top honors in critics’ best of 2016 lists including #1 positions in the AV Club, Flavorwire, The Los Angeles Times, MOJO, Newsweek, Now, Paste, Q, The Wire, Uncut and more, #2 spots including the BBC, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, NPR and Rolling Stone, ultimately placing in the year-end lists of more major publications than any album released in 2016.
