The long awaited 10th release in the multiple-Grammy Award-winning Paul McCartney Archive Collection has been confirmed: On March 24, 2017, Paul’s 1989 international #1 album, Flowers In The Dirt, will be the latest classic solo work from one of the world’s most revered catalogues to get the special treatment across a multi-format reissue released by MPL/Capitol/UMe.

The Paul McCartney Archive Collection release of Flowers In The Dirt was, as always, personally supervised by Paul himself.

One of the most critically acclaimed albums of the eighties, nominated for both BRIT and Grammy Awards, Flowers In The Dirt saw McCartney team up with Elvis Costello to co-write a third of the album (My Brave FaceYou Want Her TooDon’t Be Careless Love and That Day is Done) as well as boasting production credits from producers such as Mitchell Froom, Trevor Horn, David Foster, Steve Lipson, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney himself.  Pink Floyd guitar legend David Gilmour makes an appearance on We Got Married and George Martin’s string arrangement on Put It There is amongst the many album highlights.

The Flowers In The Dirt Deluxe Edition Box Set will undoubtedly be yet another crown jewel in the collection of any Paul McCartney fan.  In addition to its wealth of audio and video content, exclusive features of the Deluxe Edition include a 32-page notebook of Paul’s handwritten lyrics and notes, a catalogue for Linda McCartney’s 1989 Flowers In The Dirt photo exhibition, a 64 page photobook featuring the music videos for The One, and a stunning, custom-created 112-page book telling the complete story of the album through exclusive in-depth interviews with Paul, Elvis Costello and other key contributors.  Along with expanded track-by-track information, the book contains album and single artwork as well as previously unpublished photographs by Linda McCartney.

Sessions for Flowers In The Dirt began in 1987 and the majority of the album was recorded at Paul’s Hog Hill Mill studio in East Sussex.  During the sessions Costello convinced Paul to dig out his iconic Höfner bass for the first time in years—a suggestion McCartney recalls as  “unsual because I had sort of parked it. I had thought I had outgrown it.  I started playing it again and never really looked back. It’s great that Elvis encouraged me to take it out.”  In preparation for his first major world tour in years Paul was looking to capture songs he could take on the road with him.  Paul told his band that he wouldn’t go out on tour unless he really liked the album. Looking back Paul recalls, “You’re always thinking, ‘Let’s get some new songs and take them on tour’ and you hope your new songs are going to work. Something like ‘My Brave Face’ would be a song that nobody knew at the start at the beginning of the tour and then everybody knew it at the end and it was the high spot of the whole tour.”

The original 13-track album was remastered for all the new configurations at Abbey Road Studios. The Deluxe Edition contains 18 bonus audio tracks across two discs, featuring previously unreleased demos, written and performed by Paul with Elvis Costello. Speaking about these tracks Paul said:  “The demos are red hot off the skillet and that’s why we wanted to include them on this boxed set. What’s great about these songs is that they’ve just been written. So there’s nothing more hot off the skillet as I say. So that was the kind of great instant thing about them.  I hadn’t listened to them in ages but when I did I knew we had to put them out. We made a little tape of them and sent them to Elvis, who loved them too.  We said we should put out an EP or something and now the moment’s finally arrived.

The Deluxe Edition also includes, as digital downloads only, three unheard cassette demos, Don’t Want To Confess, Shallow Grave and Mistress And Maid.

The DVD that comes with the Deluxe Edition includes all the music videos from the album, three new short films with unseen archive material that show some of the creation process of the album and the documentary Put It There originally released on VHS in 1989 – a behind the scenes look at the making of Flowers In The Dirt as well as featuring live performances from his 1989 World Tour.

The 2 CD Special Edition includes the remastered version of the album on the first disc.  The second disc includes Paul and Elvis’s previously unreleased original demos.

The 2 LP Edition also comes with a digital download version. The first LP includes the remastered album but in keeping with the original vinyl release doesn’t include Où Est Le Soleil (this track will be available with the accompanying digital download).  The second LP includes Paul and Elvis’s previously unreleased original demos.

PAUL McCARTNEY SIGNS WORLDWIDE RECORDING AGREEMENT WITH CAPITOL RECORDS

PAUL McCARTNEY SIGNS WORLDWIDE RECORDING AGREEMENT WITH CAPITOL RECORDS
Historic deal encompasses McCartney’s catalogue of master recordings
and welcomes him home to label where he began his extraordinary career

Paul McCartney
has signed a worldwide recording agreement with Capitol Records, it was announced today by Capitol Music Group (CMG) Chairman & CEO Steve Barnett.

“This is genuinely exciting for me,” McCartney said. “Not only was Capitol my first U.S. record label, but the first record I ever bought was Gene Vincent’s ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula’ on the Capitol label.”

This historic contract encompasses McCartney’s entire body of post-Beatles work, from his 1970 McCartney album, through his decade with Wings, to the dozens of solo and collaborative works that have continually reaffirmed his standing as the most popular, influential and acclaimed artist in the history of recorded music.   In a career that spans six decades, McCartney has sold more than 500 million records worldwide.  He was recently named the United Kingdom’s most successful albums artist of all time by the Official Albums Chart Company and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997 for his services to music.

Paul McCartney is the recipient of countless accolades and awards. He is a 21-time Grammy winner, two-time inductee into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, an Academy Award winner and honoree of the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors, the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song and France’s Légion d’Honneur.

McCartney is currently working on a new studio album, while a comprehensive plan for the artist’s catalogue is being conceived by Capitol and Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) – in conjunction with the artist and his management team – and will be implemented beginning July 2017. The catalogue moves to Capitol/UMe from Concord, Paul’s previous label partner on such Grammy-winning albums as Band On The Run (Best Historical Album, 2012), Kisses On The Bottom (Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, 2013) and Wings Over America (Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package, 2014).

According to Barnett, “Paul McCartney’s association with Capitol has long defined so much of our historic legacy, and all of us here are extremely proud and honored that he has chosen to come back home.  Paul’s indelible contributions to our culture are second to none, and his constant evolution as an artist and performer continues to inspire and enrich the lives of countless millions of people.  We are overjoyed that Paul will be creating new music for years to come, and that Capitol will be helping to present it to the world.”

Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, said: “It would be simply impossible to overstate what an honor it is to welcome Paul back to Capitol. It’s a homecoming of one of the greatest musical artists of all time to the label that first helped bring his incredible music to the world.  Paul’s astonishing  career has shown no limits — in creativity, in commercial longevity, and in its impact on people and cultures in every corner of the globe.  We are thrilled at both Capitol and UMG to be able to contribute to the next chapter in Paul’s extraordinary career.”

Michele Anthony, UMG’s Executive Vice President of U.S. Recorded Music added, “Paul’s vital and legendary body of work as a solo artist remains essential, relevant and so highly in demand.  We’re beyond thrilled at the opportunity to put the global resources of Universal Music behind Paul’s forthcoming work, as well as introducing his previous iconic albums to new generations of fans around the world.”

Facebook today is launching a new way of sharing those special moments with friends and family: 360 photos. To celebrate the launch, Paul is one of the first to share a 360 photo on Facebook.

From today – Thursday 9th June – people on Facebook can post photos in 360 degrees and share them with their friends; either on your Page or via News Feed. Paul’s inaugural photo – which can be seen on his Facebook Page by clicking HERE – was taken during his recent concert in Córdoba, Argentina.

The new 360 photos allow the user to either pan around and explore the scene by moving their phone, or by click and dragging on a desktop — much as they can with 360 videos like Paul’s ‘Early Days’, published earlier in the week.

From tomorrow – at the Olympic Stadium show in Munich – Paul will also begin posting 360 photos on Facebook from his ‘One On One’ tour using the hashtag #OneOnOne360. If you’re going to see Paul play, we’d love to see your 360 photos too, so remember to use the hashtag and let fans from around the world enjoy the view!

To post photos, just share your panorama or 360-degree photo to Facebook and it will be converted into a fully immersive 360 photo.

Jaunt Collaborates with Paul McCartney to Produce PURE McCartney VR, Six-Part Documentary Series

Jaunt Collaborates with Paul McCartney to Produce PURE McCartney VR, Six-Part Documentary Series

Award-winning team including Tony Kaye, Geoff Emerick, Cliff Plumer, Lucas Wilson and Doug Allenstein produce immersive VR retrospectives

PALO ALTO, CA – May 24, 2016 –  Jaunt, the leading producer and publisher of fully-immersive cinematic virtual reality experiences, and legendary singer-songwriter Paul McCartney, today released the first two episodes of PURE McCartney VR, a six-part series of virtual reality (VR) documentary shorts. As part of the upcoming launch of PURE McCartney, a career-spanning compilation album, each of these immersive VR experiences delve into the stories behind some of Paul’s most iconic songs.

Fans will embark on a personal journey with Paul as he recounts memories and anecdotes related to various tracks, while sharing archived and never-before-seen footage. Filmed in his private home studio, the PURE McCartney VR episodes, which chronicle “Dance Tonight”, “Coming Up”, “My Valentine”, “Mull of Kintyre” and “Early Days”, will be released episodically, starting today, and continuing through the PURE McCartney album release on June 10, 2016.

In building the series, the team sought out the creative expertise of some of the most innovative minds in the business, including award-winning Director, Tony Kaye; Producer and Soundscape Architect Geoff Emerick; and Executive Producers Cliff Plumer, Lucas Wilson and Doug Allenstein. The resulting VR experiences include not only high quality cinematic VR, but digitally remastered and spatially oriented ambisonic audio mixed in Dolby Atmos. This project marks the first time an original Paul McCartney track has been remixed in Dolby Atmos. For a full list of project credits, see here.

“It is an honor to be part of such a tremendously talented team of artists, tasked with documenting the thinking of this great man, in order to bring his fans a new means of experiencing some of his greatest songs,” said Tony Kaye, director for PURE McCartney VR. “His musical genius is now on display for the world in an entirely new light.”

“We used to see artists connect with their fans through album covers and liner notes but that personal expression, and deeper understanding  of the music, has diminished over the years,” said Cliff Plumer, president of Jaunt Studios. “With virtual reality, Paul McCartney is taking the most innovative step yet; he’s connecting directly with his fans, to share his innermost thoughts and experiences, in an entirely new, personal and immersive way.”

Each track will be released into the custom Paul McCartney world within the Jaunt VR App. Jaunt VR is available on iOS, Android, Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Desktop 360.

The PURE McCartney VR series is presented by VisitBritain and the GREAT Britain ‘Home of Amazing Moments’ #OMGB campaign. Paul McCartney has played, and continues to play, a central role in Britain’s music heritage and the GREAT Britain campaign is proud to be associated with this innovative and ground-breaking initiative that gives everyone the opportunity to share an amazing moment with Paul McCartney in VR.

Due to overwhelming demand, Paul McCartney has confirmed he will add a second and final show to his Washington D.C. engagement at Verizon Center on Wednesday, August 10th.

As with the launch of every new Paul McCartney tour, One On One promises to unveil a dazzling re-designed set, dozens of classics from the most beloved catalog in popular music, spanning Paul’s entire career—as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle—and no shortage of surprises.

One On One is the first new Paul McCartney tour since the juggernaut that was Out There came to its stunning conclusion on October 22, 2015 with Paul’s first ever concert in Buffalo, NY. Out There’s finale capped off an incredible 2015, in which the tour played 27 shows in 22 cities throughout the world, with
highlights including Paul’s historic debut in South Korea—where the crowd at Seoul Olympic Stadium’s refusal to stop singing the refrain to “Hey Jude” literally forced Paul to reprise the song in the first encore, playing that signature bassline live for the first time—three nights at the Tokyo Dome and one at Budokan, a sold out stand at Paris’ majestic Stade de France, more than a dozen packed arena shows across the U.S., UK and Europe, and triumphant headlines at festivals such as Firefly, Roskilde, and Lollapalooza in Chicago—the latter a tour de force performance for a 100,000-strong crowd featuring a guest appearance from Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard on “Get Back.”

The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show—and so much more: Nearly three hours worth of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs that have formed the soundtracks of our lives. Paul and his band have played an unparalleled range of venues and locations: outside the Coliseum in Rome, Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, The White House, a free show in Mexico for over 400,000 people, the last ever show at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert 1966, and even one performance broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul’s band of the last 10+ years – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) – the show is never anything short of life-changing.

The One On One Tour will debut a brand new production, as always utilizing state of the art audio and  video technology and to ensure an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house. Employing  massive screens, lasers, fireworks and, of course, a staggering selection of the best songs ever written or
performed, every Paul McCartney show promises a once in a lifetime evening that transcends and elevates the potential of live music.

Tickets will go on sale beginning Friday, May 6 at 10:00am ET.

American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginningWednesday, May 4 at 10:00am ET through Thursday, May 5 at 10:00pm ET.

History met history last night backstage at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, AR as Paul McCartney met Mrs. Thelma Mothershed Wair and Ms. Elizabeth Eckford of the Little Rock Nine.

As young students who struggled against segregation, enrolling in the previously all-white Little Rock Central High School in 1957, the Little Rock Nine introduced a young Paul to the civil rights movement and inspired the lyrics of “Blackbird.”

He’s conquered some of the largest venues on the earth, set numerous records across the globe, cemented a singular position in music history, and now he sets his sights on Grand Rapids. Paul McCartney is set to make his first ever Grand Rapids appearance at Van Andel Arena this summer. McCartney brings his brand new “One On One” Tour to West Michigan on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 8:00 PM.

As with the launch of every new Paul McCartney tour, One On One has unveiled a dazzling re-designed set, and dozens of classics from the most beloved catalog in popular music, spanning Paul’s entire career–as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle—and no shortage of surprises.

Having opened April 13 to rave reviews, One On One is the first new Paul McCartney tour since the juggernaut that was Out There came to its stunning conclusion on October 22, 2015 with Paul’s first ever concert in Buffalo, NY. Out There’s finale capped off an incredible 2015, in which the tour played 27 shows in 22 cities throughout the world, with highlights including Paul’s historic debut in South Korea—where the crowd at Seoul Olympic Stadium’s refusal to stop singing the refrain to “Hey Jude” literally forced Paul to reprise the song in the first encore, playing that signature bassline live for the first time—three nights at the Tokyo Dome and one at Budokan, a sold out stand at Paris’ majestic Stade de France, more than a dozen packed arena shows across the U.S., UK and Europe, and triumphant headlines at festivals such as Firefly, Roskilde, and Lollapalooza in Chicago—the latter a tour de force performance for a 100,000-strong crowd featuring a guest appearance from Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard on “Get Back.”

The One On One Tour features a brand new production, as always utilizing state of the art audio and video technology to ensure an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house. Employing massive screens, lasers, fireworks and, of course, a staggering selection of the best songs ever written or performed, every Paul McCartney show promises a once in a lifetime evening that transcends and elevates the potential of live music.
