RADIOHEAD’S ED O’BRIEN AND PHIL SELWAY TO RE-JOIN NEIL FINN FOR NEW SEVEN WORLDS COLLIDE PROJECT

Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway will once again back Neil Finn for a follow up to the acclaimed Seven Worlds Collide, a project supporting international development organization Oxfam.

Seven years ago OBrien and Selway were invited by Finn to participate in a special series of concerts in New Zealand under the banner Seven Worlds Collide. Also returning from that original Seven Worlds Collide lineup will be founder of the Smiths and member of Modest Mouse Johnny Marr, Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg, songwriter and violinist Lisa Germano, and Liam Finn. Artists newly joining the project include Jeff Tweedy, John Stirrat, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone from Wilco, and New Zealand songwriters Bic Runga and Don McGlashan. Behind the mixing desk will be master recording engineer Jim Scott. More names will be added to the lineup in the coming weeks.

The album will be recorded over the next few months in Auckland’s Roundhead Studios and is due for release in 2009. Like its predecessor, the project will also see a series of concerts featuring many of the artists included in the lineup. The shows will take place in Auckland early in the New Year. Details will be announced soon.

Seven Worlds Collide
Seven Worlds Collide is a live album released in 2001 by New Zealand singer/songwriter, Neil Finn. This is a live recording culled from a series of five shows from April 2, 2001 to April 6, 2001 featuring Neil Finn & Friends recorded at the St James theatre in Auckland, New Zealand. Notable guests in Finn’s band included Eddie Vedder, Johnny Marr, Ed O’Brien, Tim Finn, Sebastian Steinberg, Phil Selway, Lisa Germano and Betchadupa. The title of this album is derived from the line “Seven worlds will collide / whenever I am by your side” from Crowded House’s 1993 single Distant Sun.

Oxfam International
Oxfam is an international development organisation working to end poverty and injustice to bring real and lasting change to the lives of people living in poverty and to create a safer, fairer and more sustainable world.
Oxfam believes that poverty is not inevitable. Instead, poverty results from unjust policies, and the denial of basic rights and opportunities. There are 13 Oxfam affiliates working with communities on the ground in over 100 countries. We put all our effort and expertise into saving lives, developing programmes that empower people, and campaigning for lasting change.

Radiohead
Radiohead is Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O’Brien, Philip Selway and Thom Yorke. Radiohead’s recordings have included 1993’s Pablo Honey, 1995’s The Bends, 1997’s OK Computer (the tour for which was documented by the 1998 film Meeting People Is Easy), 2000’s Kid A, 2001’s Amnesiac, 2003’s Hail To The Thief and In Rainbows, which was self-released via Radiohead.com in October 2007. In Rainbows was released to traditional retail by TBD Records/ATO in January 2008 and entered the U.S. chart at #1.

AFI ENTER STUDIO TO RECORD LP8

AFI have begun pre-production on their eighth studio album. The follow-
up to 2006’s platinum DECEMBERUNDERGROUND will be recorded in Los
Angeles and in the band’s native Bay Area with producer Dave Bottrill (Tool, King Crimson, David Sylvian & Robert Fripp, Muse, Placebo). No release date has been set as yet.

JIMMY EAT WORLD: CLARITY X 10 TOUR

10 SHOWS CELEBRATING 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF 1999 CLASSIC

“It was 1999’s masterful Clarity that established a foundation for 21st century emo”–BLENDER

Jimmy Eat World will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its classic Clarity by playing the album in its entirety for 10 one-time-only shows beginning February 23 in New York City and concluding March 7 in the band’s native Arizona.

Released in 1999 to virtually no fanfare, Clarity gradually became the single most influential record of a generation: A recent SPIN article polled members of 17 bands ranging from Fall Out Boy to Yellowcard, all of whom cited Jim Adkins’ writing and performance on the record as a primary influence, while ALTERNATIVE PRESS noted “Clarity would later become one of the most beloved emo albums of the ’90s.” Ironically, it was Clarity’s initial failure that put Jimmy Eat World on the path to their eventual success: Left to its own devices after being dropped by Capitol, the band built up a base via relentless touring which funded the recording of their 2001 breakthrough Bleed American, which went on to sell 1.5 million copies.

Clarity was reissued last year to considerably greater acclaim, including a 4.5 star BLENDER review that proclaimed “Dozens of weepy bottom-feeders have tried to write mid-20s angst anthems better than the soaring ‘Lucky Denver Mint’ or the delicately heartbroken ‘Just Watch The Fireworks’–but few have succeeded.”

Reuben’s Accomplice will support Feb. 23-Mar. 4. No Knife will support Mar. 5-7.

Pre-sale for the Clarity x 10 Tour will begin this Thursday, Nov. 13. For details, see JimmyEatWorld.com. General on sales begin Saturday Nov. 15, with the exception of San Francisco, which goes on sale Sunday Nov. 16, and Boston, which will go on sale at a later date to be announced.

RYAN ADAMS & THE CARDINALS CARDINOLOGY ENTERS U.S. ALBUM CHART AT #11

Limited Edition Vinyl With Exclusive Artwork OUT NOW
2009 Tour Dates To Be Announced Shortly

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals’ Cardinology has entered the Billboard Top 200 at #11, selling in excess of 40,000 copies since its October 28 release and the second highest chart debut of Ryan’s career, the first being last year’s Easy Tiger which bowed at #7.

A limited edition vinyl version of Cardinology was released this week, featuring exclusive cover artwork by illustrator Leah Hayes, renowned for her Fantagraphics graphic novels Funeral of the Heart and Holy Moly, among other works.

The Cardinals, who are comprised of Adams, Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Chris Feinstein (bass, vocals), Jon Graboff (pedal steel, vocals) and Brad Pemberton (drums), are about to embark on a UK headlining tour, which will be followed by a North American trek supporting Oasis. Dates for an early 2009 U.S. headline tour will be announced shortly.

Cardinology is the latest installation of the Ryan Adams & The Cardinals canon that includes Easy Tiger, 29, Jacksonville City Nights, Cold Roses, Love Is Hell, Rock N Roll, Demolition, Gold and Heartbreaker. Adams explains the record’s title as “the study of this band, the research and development of jam technology–Jam meaning equal part songwriting and jamming. Some people say meaningful things all the time but never say them quite the same way twice. So it’s the science of applying that to music and never playing anything the same way twice.”
