FIRST FOOTAGE FROM DAVE GROHL-DIRECTED DOC LIVE NOW AT www.soundcitymovie.com

Dave Grohl has unveiled a new glimpse of SOUND CITY, his forthcoming debut as a feature documentary director/producer. The approximately 60 seconds of footage, which can be seen at www.soundcitymovie.com, features the likes of Tom Petty, John Fogerty, Butch Vig, Mick Fleetwood, Trent Reznor and Grammy winning producer Jim Scott reminiscing and extolling the virtues of the Van Nuys CA studio and its Neve 8028 recording console on which so many legends captured the magic of their most classic albums.

Grohl was inspired to create SOUND CITY the film after purchasing that same recording console last year as Sound City announced its closing. Built in 1972, it is considered online casino by many to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment, having recorded such artists as Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Guns and Roses, Nirvana, Cheap Trick, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Fear and countless other musical legends over the past 40 years.

Grohl”s personal connection to Sound City dates back over 20 years, to the 1991 recording of Nirvana”s breakthrough album, Nevermind. Selling over 30 million copies worldwide, Nevermind not only changed the entire modern musical landscape, but also forever altered the course of Grohl”s life.

Roswell Films, a division of Grohl”s Roswell Records label, will distribute the film. Key personnel involved with the film include Producer/Director Grohl; Editor Paul Crowder (Dogtown & Z Boys, Once In a Lifetime, Riding Giants); and Mark Monroe, writer of the Oscar-winning doc The Cove, as well as Once In a Lifetime and The Tillman Story. The film is also being produced in conjunction with Jim Rota, John Ramsay, and Therapy studios.

Grohl”s personal letter outlining his vision for the film as well as further information and future announcements related to the film can be found at www.soundcitymovie.com
