NEW DEEZER ORIGINAL PODCAST COLLABORATION WITH GORILLAZ ‘Things I Like’ with Russel Hobbs

Today, the world’s most personal music streaming service Deezer, is announcing the launch of its latest original content – Things I Like – a podcast collaboration with Russel Hobbs, drummer with the world’s most successful virtual band Gorillaz, with both episodes One and Two available simultaneously tonight.

In a first for Hobbs, the collaboration will see the Brooklyn native –  Gorillaz’ resident scryer and the meat behind the beat – step up to the microphone, joined by stellar list of Gorillaz friends including Jehnny Beth, De La Soul’s Pos, Peven Everett, Little Simz and Cheick Tidiane Seck, for a series of conversations from the other side.

Acknowledged by friends and colleagues as the most eloquent drummer in hip hop, the podcast will see two worlds collide, with Hobbs meeting his guests in unexpected locations, from a suburban living room in Los Angeles to the interdimensional cosmos. Things I Like offers a compelling, velvet-toned exploration of the past, the future and everything in between – music, art, life and the afterlife – while not forgetting a subject very close to the heart of this man mountain… dinner plans.

Hobbs says: “Things I Like is a chance to hear the Humanz behind the voices, the shadows behind the thoughts on the record. I wanted to connect the dots, to shine a light into those shadows, but also to have dinner with my favorite people. Coz I love eating and people… in that order.”

Recorded around the world in LA, London, Paris and Vienna, Hobbs’ adventures include:

  • Episode One: journeying back in time with De La Soul’s Posdnuos to give advice to his younger self.

  • Episode Two: planning a perfect dinner in the afterlife with Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth.

  • Episode Three: delving into some weird and wonderful conspiracy theories with funk and soul sensation Peven Everett.

  • Episode Four: exploring the surreal vs the real with British rapper Little Simz.

  • Episode Five: recalling the birth of the Two-Tone music genre and the influence of Ska with Pauline Black.

  • Episode Six: talking with Malian musician Cheick Tidiane Seck about meeting Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, while discussing the origins of the Rail Band and the power of African music.

  • Episode Seven: crossing dimensions to talk drumming with his real-world counterpart, Gabriel Wallace.

Things I Like is a collaboration between Gorillaz, Deezer Originals and award winning audio producer David Waters. Episodes One and Two are available at midnight tonight on Deezer, with the remainder released weekly. It will be available across all podcast platforms and via the Gorillaz App.

PAUL McCARTNEY 2018 CATALOGUE REISSUES OUT MAY 18

PAUL McCARTNEY 2018 CATALOGUE REISSUES OUT MAY 18 VIA MPL/Capitol

NEW

Chaos And Creation In The Backyard

Wings Greatest

Thrillington

FEATURING LIMITED EDITION 180g COLOR VINYL PRESSINGS

On May 18, Paul McCartney will release four 2018 edition catalogue reissues via MPL/Capitol: NEWChaos And Creation In The BackyardWings Greatest and Thrillington. All four titles will be issued in affordable single CD digipak and 180gram black vinyl single LP formats—and will be made available for the first time in limited edition 180gram color vinyl pressings. All vinyl LPs will include a download card.

Upon its release in 2013, NEW was lauded by Rolling Stone as “energized and full of joyous rock & roll invention.” Executive produced by Giles Martin and also featuring production by Mark Ronson, Ethan Johns and Paul Epworth, NEW entered the U.S. chart at #3. The album scored positive reviews from Entertainment Weekly to Pitchfork and all points in between, while the title track, “Queenie Eye” and “Save Us” would become staples of the McCartney live show over the course of the Out There and One On One world tours. NEW’s 2018 edition will feature the first vinyl pressing of the album since its 2013 release, including a limited edition pink vinyl 180gram vinyl LP with download card and 12×12” insert.

Released in 2005, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard was instantly hailed as continuing a hot streak that included Flaming Pie, Run Devil Run and Driving Rain. Produced by Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck) and featuring the singles “Fine Line” and the Grammy-winning “Jenny Wren,” Chaos And Creation… debuted at #6 on the Billboard chart. It remained on the charts for nearly half a year, while Paul mounted the massive ‘US’ Tour. In 2007, “Jenny Wren” won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, while the album was nominated in three other categories including Album of the Year. The 2018 edition of Chaos And Creation… will make the album available on vinyl for the first time since its initial run and will include a limited edition gold vinyl 180gram vinyl LP with download card and 12×12” insert.

Originally released in 1978, Wings Greatest was the first ever compilation of Paul McCartney’s post-Beatles hits, featuring four classics that had previously been unavailable on any McCartney album: “Another Day,” “Junior’s Farm,” “Hi, Hi, Hi” and “Mull of Kintyre.” The penultimate Wings album release, Wings Greatest was naturally a worldwide hit, and the soundtrack to the 70s for a generation. As part of its 2018 edition reissue, Wings Greatest will be available as a limited edition blue vinyl 180gram vinyl LP with download card and 20”x30” poster.

Recorded in 1971 but not released until 1977, Thrillington remains one of the most enigmatic entries in the storied McCartney discography. Credited to the pseudonym Percy “Thrills” Thrillington, a fictitious socialite whose activities were chronicled in UK newspaper ads, Thrillington was actually a fully reimagined instrumental lounge/jazz version of Paul and Linda McCartney’s RAM. With Thrillington’s 2018 edition, Percy is given a new lease on life with this collector’s item available on vinyl for the first time since the 1977 first pressings that fetch hefty sums on the collectors’ market, plus a limited edition red/black marbled 180gram vinyl LP with download card.

Release Theme Song To Commemorate Inaugural Krewe du Kanaval

“Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!)” Available Now at www.kanaval.org

Proceeds To Be Donated to the Preservation Hall Foundation & KANPE

In anticipation of the inaugural Krewe du Kanaval taking place Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in New Orleans, the Preservation Hall Horns, RAM and Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire have collaborated on “Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!),” a Krewe du Kanaval theme, released today at www.kanaval.org.

“Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!),” recorded in New Orleans last week, is an embodiment of the spirit of Krewe du Kanaval: a new Mardi Gras Krewe, mobile music event and celebration of Haiti and the diaspora of cultures that have enriched New Orleans’ identity and arts for hundreds of years.

The music of “Ann Ale! (Let’s Go!)” was written by Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, with lyrics by Win Butler, Regine Chassagne, and Richard Morse. The song was produced by Win Butler, Regine Chassagne, and Eric Heigle, and mixed by Craig Silvey with Win Butler and Eric Heigle.

The inaugural Krewe du Kanaval will run from 12 noon through to the late evening, consisting of a parade/procession through the French Quarter and Treme, a free afternoon festival in Armstrong Park and a ticketed Kanaval Ball at the iconic club One Eyed Jacks. Much like the theme song, the Krewe itself is a joint effort between Preservation Hall, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire and Haitian friends. It aims to be a welcome and necessary annual addition to New Orleans’ Mardi Gras traditions and will raise funds to benefit the Preservation Hall Foundation and KANPE – two not-for-profit organizations which serve important unmet social and cultural needs in New Orleans and Haiti.

Confirmed talent includes members of Arcade Fire including singers Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, the world famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band, DJ Nickodemus, DJ Cosmo Gonik, Paul Beaubrun and special guests from Haiti including RAM.

Released September 1, 2017 on Columbia Records/DFA, AMERICAN DREAM entered the U.S. chart at #1 and has been nominated for two GRAMMY Awards–Best Alternative Album and Best Dance Recording (for the song “tonite”)—and has generated a tide of year-end best of lists and accolades, including:

“James Murphy gathers his old gang of New York punk-funk virtuosos together for some truly festive paranoia… the music crackles with the joy of communal celebration”—ROLLING STONE #5 50 Best Albums of 2017

“Both tongue-in-cheek and confessional, finding new space for sincere reflection… American Dream proves some acts are better together.”—TIME Top 10 Albums of 2017

“As fresh and vital as they’d ever been—not just older but wiser too, with a new strain of wit and tenderness thrumming beneath their strobelit dreams.”—ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY #6 Best Albums of 2017

“Songs this good would’ve been enough to justify LCD’s controversial resurrection. Yet Murphy imbues the new music with a weight that makes the convincing argument that he has a lot more to say, and that it won’t be in the tone we might’ve expected.”—STEREOGUM #9 50 Best Albums of 2017

“Still the most aware, and self-aware, artist in alt-rock… a perfect offering to the spirit of the Thin White Duke and evidence of Murphy’s continued artistic vitality as a no-longer-young American.”—BILLBOARD 50 Best Albums of 2017

“No one does disco neurosis like Murphy… Murphy’s most intensely personal songs to date… burn with unusually candid intensity… a welcome return”—AV CLUB Best Albums of 2017

“The guy’s mission is to make neurosis danceable, and Dream is mission achieved… funky, expansive and imbued with a strange sadness, frequently within the confines of the same six-minute track.”—NEWSWEEK #7 17 Best Albums of 2017

“American Dream is a beautiful work of art about aging, regret and an arduous search for meaning, an expansive record that explores a variety of sounds and themes, but it never feels confused or lost.”—PASTE #8 50 Best Albums of 2017

“Classic LCD: No one does rock’n’roll disco better… so worth the wait, and such a relief to hear.”—PITCHFORK #12 50 Best Albums of 2017

“With an honest, powerful record like this, LCD only further cemented their spot as dance rock’s best friend.”—CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND Top 50 Albums of 2017

“A spectacular comeback that shatters even the most optimistic expectations.”—POPMATTERS #5 60 Best Albums of 2017

Additionally, LCD Soundsystem will make its debut on Austin City Limits TV on PBS, with an hourlong full episode performance airing February 3, 2018. Check acltv.com/ and local listings for further details

BECK: “FIX ME” VIDEO PREMIERE FROM NEW ALBUM COLORS AVAILABLE NOW

BECK

“FIX ME”

VIDEO PREMIERE FROM NEW ALBUM COLORS AVAILABLE NOW

DIRECTED BY BROOK LINDER

PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ASPCA®

www.aspca.org/helpanimals

“Delicate dreaminess and longing…it’s the highlight of the whole record.”—PASTE

“A gorgeously melancholy mood piece”—AV CLUB

Following this morning’s sneak peek premiere on BuzzFeed, Beck and co-stars Mame, Riku, Gaku and Qoo—follow them on Instagram at @tamanegi.qoo.riku—have proudly unveiled the wonderfully whimsical, dare we say Instagrammable, video for “Fix Me,” from his new album Colors (Capitol Records).

Set in the otherworldly hills of Yamagata, Japan, the video for “Fix Me” is a tender look into the world of Mame and her canine guardians, featuring scenes that oscillate from highly stylized and costumed tableaus to carefree games of frisbee and feasting on birthday cake.

Director Brook Linder commented on the unique experience of making the video: “There’s something really special happening in the mountains of Yamagata, and we were lucky enough to enter Mame’s world for two afternoons in November. That home is heaven on Earth. One of the dogs, Qoo, and I had a special connection —I think he’s my great-grandfather reincarnated… or something. He looked into my soul.”

For the video’s release, Beck has partnered with the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to enable fans to make an easy charitable donation—simply visit www.aspca.org/helpanimals or watch the video here to help make a difference today.

“Fix Me” is the cool down closer of Beck’s 13th album Colors, hailed as “a euphoric blast of experimental pop… fresh and essential” by Rolling Stone, and more recently becoming a fixture of Best of 2017 lists including Rolling Stone, KCRW, Q, ABC, NME, Mojo and more. Colors has been holding strong in the charts since its top 3 debut in October 2017, currently buoyed by the #1 alternative single “Up All Night” and its epic video, the latter nominated in the Best Music Video category of the 60th annual Grammy Awards taking place Sunday, January 28.

ALL PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE GO CAMPAIGN

In 1986, The Edge documented the monumental journey as his band, U2, travelled into the deserts of California during the making of their iconic The Joshua Tree album. For the first time ever, those photos are on display and a very limited run of individual prints are available for purchase at the Arcane Space in Venice, California.

“I took these photographs without a clear sense of where they might end up. I guess I took them because I felt that this experience and this landscape and this moment in time ought to be remembered and possibly at some point shared.” -The Edge

100% of profits from the sale of the photos will benefit GO Campaign and its local grassroots projects helping vulnerable youth in Los Angeles.

The gallery will be open to the public on November 22nd through December 17th. There will be an opening night reception on November 22nd from 6-8pm. Following that, the space will be open to the public Tuesdays, and Thursdays-Sundays from 11am to 6pm.
