In celebration of the October 30 release of Beastie Boys Book (Spiegel & Grau), Adam “Adrock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond will embark on the six-night four-city Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct event tour.

Each night of Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct will feature readings, conversations between Mike D, Adrock and a special guest moderator, Q&A sessions–all with a live score provided by Mix Master Mikeand a brand new Beastie Boys exhibit, curated by Beastie Boys & Beyond the Streets in partnership with adidas Skateboarding. Sonos will provide the sound experience at each exhibit, playing a mixtape curated by Adrock and Mike D.

As if that’s not enough, every ticket for Beastie Boys Book: Live & Direct comes with a physical copy of Beastie Boys Book—to be redeemed upon entrance to the event.

Gorillaz have collaborated with G-Shock on GORILLAZ X G-SHOCK – a limited edition collection of new watches designed for band members 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs – available later this year.

A chance meeting in Tokyo this summer between G-Shock creator Mr. Ibe and Noodle, longtime admirers of each other’s work, led to a conversation about art, life, music and fulfilling their mutually aligned intergalactic goals… The result? Our intrepid gang of four (including Murdoc, recently released from HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs) set off for Galaxy M101. Their mission? Gorillaz will return to North America next month for further dates on The Now Now Tour to include a headline slot at the band’s own acclaimed Demon Dayz Festival.  The “joyful apocalypse… and carnivalesque festival of great performances” (The Guardian)”, curated by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, will make its exclusive appearance for this year at the Pico Rivera Arena in Los Angeles on 20th October. About BRVTVS: BRVTVS is a French directors collective created by Thibaud Clergue, Aurelien Duhayon & Sebastien Iglesias

They met together at the 3D animation French school SUPINFOCOM where they did two graduations films, “Azul” and “Contre-temps”. Pushed by the passion of making movies they’ve decided to create the collective and make their first independent short film “HORDE” followed one year later by the movie clip “THE LAST GOODBYE” for the Canadian musician “PILOTPRIEST”. Both of the films received a very warm reception from internet and festivals.

The three directors worked in a lot of different projects individually for companies in London and Paris before joining Feed Me Light. Collectively they have developed various skills like concept design, 3d & 2d animation, modelling and illustration. This diversity of domains make the strength of the collective, as it gives them an independence in projects and an availability to manage all the parts of a film.

As Arcade Fire approach the grand finale of their Everything Now Continued Tour, headlining The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles tonight, a new remix and accompanying video have been released for “Peter Pan” from the band’s Grammy-nominated international #1 album, Everything Now. Watch the video HERE.

Created completely independently by Negril, Jamaica-born director Storm Saulter (Better Mus’ Come), the “Peter Pan (Equiknoxx Remix)” clip plays like a short film–a “Lo-Fi Teenage Dancehall Fairytale” in Saulter’s words.

The video features Kingston dancehall stars Maleik Lamont and Rayana Campbell as Peter and Wendy, whose story plays out in a hypnotic mix of neon tinged nightscapes and kinetically charged dance sequences choreographed by Amanyea Stines (who also plays one of Wendy’s dancers, was responsible for casting all of the dancers in the video, and whose credits include work with Cardi B and Major Lazer among others).

The entire “Peter Pan” project speaks to Arcade Fire’s love for and familiarity with the music, culture and people of Jamaica. Storm Saulter’s relationship with the band traces back to their meeting through mutual friend Chris Blackwell, with an immediate bond formed that led to Saulter photographing the band at Trident Castle in Port Antonio during the sessions for their Reflektor album. Saulter’s involvement with “Peter Pan” was much deeper than the typical music video director: The “Peter Pan” version that serves as soundtrack to Peter and Wendy’s romance was coordinated by him–both the Equiknoxx remix as well as the dub mix by Saulter’s composer Jeremy Ashbourne.

Arcade Fire are currently playing the last few headline dates of their current tour tonight September 20 in Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre, following by two nights at the Greek Theatre in Berekeley September 21 and 22. The last show of the tour will be Arcade’s September 23 return to Las Vegas for the Life Is Beautiful festival.

A little over 18 months ago Metallica announced the formation of All Within My Hands (AWMH), a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation focused on creating sustainable communities by tackling the issues of hunger and workforce education and encouraging volunteerism.  Now the band and everyone on the All Within My Hands board are excited to celebrate the foundation’s first full year with the All Within My Hands Foundation Helping Hands Concert and Auction on November 3rd at the Masonic in San Francisco. This very special evening will provide a unique opportunity to learn about the organizations Metallica and AWMH have supported, to bid on one of a kind auction items, and to experience a rare acoustic Metalllica show.  Also contributing an acoustic set will be the band’s friends Cage the Elephant.

AWMH was established in 2017 as a way for Metallica and the entire Metallica family to give back to communities around the world that have supported the band on tour. In its first six months of operation, the Foundation donated more than $750,000 to local food banks around the world—a practice the band and AWMH have continued on the North American WorldWired Tour, donating $10,000 to local food banks in every city and meeting dedicated people who focus their daily lives on helping others.

The Metallica family and the All Within My Hands Foundation board members are committed to running an organization of the highest integrity where expenses are kept to a minimum and are paid for entirely by the band, the board, and friends who have worked with the band over many years and are excited to help in this mission. This week, Luscious Jackson founding member Jill Cunniff will celebrate her first exhibition of original artwork, Lyric and Word Paintings, in New York City. The exhibition will run from  Thursday, September 20th through Sunday, September 23rd at 198 Allen Street.

Kicking off this Thursday, September 20th from 7-10pm, the opening night event for Lyric and Word Paintings will include a one-night-only acoustic show by Jill and friends as they perform a set featuring songs from her solo album City Beach as well as the Luscious Jackson catalogue.

Commenting on the inspiration and process behind her paintings, Jill explained: “I’ve been painting my whole life. As a teenager, I used to paint and write songs kind of like a hand off, switching between the two over the course of an afternoon. I listen to music when I am doing artwork; it’s a big part of the process. I’m influenced by New York City’s streets and the posters and writings that pile up on top of each other, creating layers of color and text. I came of age in 1980s downtown NYC when graffiti and hip-hop met punk. Later, I was introduced to the work of Bay Area Figurative artists while studying painting at U.C. Berkeley, and their glowing landscapes also had a deep influence. So my paintings have elements that are both hectic and serene.”

Lyric and Word Paintings will be open through September 23rd during the following hours:
Friday & Saturday: 12-7pm
Sunday: 12-3pm

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds add a new date in Dallas, Texas to their North American tour in October.

The band head to the city’s The Bomb Factory on October 23rd, two days after kicking off their run in Los Angeles.

One of the most intense and exciting live acts on the planet, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds headlined festivals across Europe this summer, before they cross continents to Latin and North America for 10 dates in October.

For one night only in April of this year, they shared a show from their celebrated 2017 world tour on cinema screens worldwide.

The release of a special EP of audio from that extraordinary film, Distant Sky – Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Live In Copenhagen, will be available on Digital and 12” vinyl from September 28th.

The band is also teaming up with indie record stores in Los Angeles (Amoeba Music), New York (Rough Trade NYC) and Toronto (Rotate This) for an exclusive offer that includes a ticket to the show in the relevant city, a pre-order of the limited edition Distant Sky – Live in Copenhagen EP on vinyl and a limited edition tour lithograph.

Paul McCartney’s Egypt Station (Capitol Records) has entered the Billboard 200 at #1, making it the third Non-Beatles/Wings McCartney effort to top the U.S. chart and Paul’s first Stateside #1 since 1982’s Tug Of War. Earning  153,000 equivalent album units, Egypt Station is Paul’s first solo album to enter the chart at #1. Since beginning a new and profound direction on his creative journey with the 1970 release of his debut solo album, McCartney, Paul has sold over 100 million albums and singles worldwide.

The 18-time GRAMMY® winner launched Egypt Station with an intimate show at New York City’s Grand Central Station on September 7, which was live streamed as a YouTube Originals concert special–available for viewing HERE. The previous evening, McCartney visited The TonightShow Starring Jimmy Fallon and performed his Top 10 AAA hit “Come On To Me.”

Explaining the album’s concept, Paul says, “I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’… I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.” The title is taken from the piece of art featured on the cover, which Paul painted in 1988.

14th September 2018: Today Spotify is proud to announce the release of ‘Paul McCartney & Spotify Singles: Under The Staircase’, a playlist of exclusive audio and video recordings, all captured at an intimate Paul McCartney gig which took place at Abbey Road Studios over the summer, at which Paul McCartney played tracks from his newest solo album, Egypt Station.

Spotify hosted Paul McCartney at the intimate gig at Abbey Road’s iconic Studio 2, the studio in which so many of The Beatles’ classic tracks were recorded. The session – which was overseen by producer Giles Martin, the son of ‘the fifth Beatle’ Sir George Martin – featured a wealth of iconic tracks from the back catalogues of The Beatles and Wings, as well as tracks from his newest solo album, Egypt Station. The event was attended by around 150 of Paul McCartney‘s biggest fans from around the world, as well as close friends of the star and his family, including Stormzy, Kylie Minogue, Amy Schumer, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

Marking the characters’ first ever live performance video and first live performance since 2010’s unforgettable MTV EMA performance, this eye-popping film sees Gorillaz vocalist 2D command the stage against a backdrop of mind-altering visuals alongside bandmates Noodle and Russel Hobbs, with GangreenGang’s Ace on bass standing in for the incarcerated Murdoc Niccals.

The transformative ‘Tranz’ clip is directed by Gorillaz co-founder Jamie Hewlett and co- director Nicos Livesey, with support from the extraordinary animation specialists Blinkink and Paris-based creative production powerhouse Eddy and combines classic hand-held animation, stop-frame needlework and claymation for a wavy ride. 

Following a summer of exceptional live festival dates across the UK and Europe, Gorillaz are now gearing up for The Now Now tour’s final run of North American dates, which will include their very own Demon Dayz LA Festival in Los Angeles on 20th October. The festival, curated by Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett, will see the band joined onstage by special guests including De La Soul, Peven Everett, Jamie Principle and Del The Funky Homosapien. ACOUSTIC BENEFIT AT HOBART, AUSTRALIA’S MONA RAISES $20,000 TO SUPPORT ROYAL HOBART HOSPITAL PEDIATRICS WARD

Having left a trail of ecstatically exhausted fans in its wake from Niagara Falls to Australia, Queens Of The Stone Age’s world tour in support of its international chart-topping seventh album Villains (Matador) has careened to a triumphant finish with its 129th show in Perth.

The year-plus Villains run saw QOTSA play for more than 1.7 million true believers, including:

* An all day affair at London’s Finsbury Park for a crowd of nearly 50,000

* The Reading and Leeds festivals on the same day

* The first Queens Of The Stone Age headline show at Madison Square Garden

* A return to The Forum in Los Angeles, plus headlines at The O2 in London, Red Rocks, the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, the Stadthalle in Vienna, the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and more.

As the tour ground to a close, fans in Tasmania were treated to an intimate one-off acoustic set at MONA(Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart  – a benefit that  generated $10,000 matched by QOTSA’s Joshua Homme’s own Sweet Stuff Foundation for a total of $20,000 to support the Royal Hobart Hospital Paediatrics Ward. The band visited the hospital the following day, presenting the donation to the hospital and gifts to its patients.
