OLIVIA JEAN TO JOIN JACK WHITE ON SEPTEMBER TOUR DATES

Bathtub Love Killings
Bathtub Love Killings

Third Man Records is pleased to announce that very special guest Olivia Jean will be joining Jack White on the bill for his September headline shows. Olivia Jean’s Jack White-produced debut solo LP Bathtub Love Killings will be released October 14th, and her Devil’s Night record release show at Third Man headquarters was recently announced featuring a unique and gory twist…

To obtain a ticket to the Devil’s Night record release party (before they go on sale) as well as a limited-edition version of the Bathtub Love Killings LP, fans must “pay by the pint” by donating blood to the American Red Cross at the Third Man blood drive the day before the record is released. One blood “offering” affords each donor 2 tickets to the event plus a copy of the colored vinyl record — one day early.

Regular tickets will be available for sale closer to the event’s traditional October 30th date.

For more information regarding Olivia’s upcoming performances, please visit http://www.oliviajeanmusic.com/shows, and for a complete listing of Jack White’s tour dates, visit http://jackwhiteiii.com/tour-dates.

SECOND ALBUM OUT OCTOBER 7 ON BELLA UNION

With the release of his new album Weatherhouse a month away, Philip Selway is offering fans a stream of his new single “It Will End In Tears”. The second track to be taken from his very fine return to 2010’s debut Familial, “It Will End In Tears” will be available as a free download to all of those who pre-order the new album. Check it out below:

Philip Selway : ‘It Will End In Tears’

Four years after the unexpected and exquisite treat that was Philip Selway’s debut album Familial, the man formerly known only as the drummer of Radiohead returns with his sophomore record, Weatherhouse. At ten tracks and 38 minutes, the album is as concise in shape as it is expansive in mood and assured in execution, mining a generally darker, fuller sound than its gentler, more acoustic-based predecessor and reflecting the band-centered nature of its construction and its creator’s growth in confidence.

Weatherhouse was made in collaboration with Adem Ilhan and Quinta; artists in their own right who had previously performed in Philip’s backing band. “From the outset,” Selway recalls, “we wanted the album to be the three of us, and we covered a lot of instruments between us. With a studio full of inspiring gear and a great-sounding desk, we felt like a band. Different musicians stretch you, and I felt stretched on Weatherhouse, but very enjoyably so.” Working mostly out of Radiohead’s studio in Oxfordshire, Adem also produced and engineered Weatherhouse, while Quinta played an equally integral role in the arrangements. The album was mixed by David Wrench.

Album opener “Coming Up For Air” sets the scene with its brooding, spectral mood, mantra-like pattern and Selway’s simmering, reverb-drenched vocal exploring the album’s dominant theme. “It’s very much about taking stock of my life. I wanted to convey a sense of release and affirmation,” he says. “This was the first song that we recorded. Immediately it felt in a very different space from Familial.”

The album’s talismanic qualities explore a world of hope and plans, connection and disconnection – between family, friends and self – and dreams and fears: “I love records that you can almost live in, where the songs become talismans that you take to heart. That’s what I was trying to create in Weatherhouse.” With its emotional frankness, haunting melodies and gripping tension, Selway has made a great artistic leap and created something that even the most experienced singer-songwriters would be proud of.

Pre-order Weatherhouse on iTunes here.

BOB MOULD RELEASES NEW OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR “THE WAR”

REDDIT AMA WITH BOB AND VIDEO DIRECTOR DAVE MARKEY SEPTEMBER 9 AT 3:30PM EST

WORLD TOUR KICKS OFF TONIGHT IN PHILADELPHIA

unnamed

Bob Mould has unveiled a new video for “The War” off his critically-lauded album Beauty & Ruin (Merge). The video, which captures the sweaty, rollicking shows Bob and his band are known to put on, as well as other aspects of touring life, is directed by Dave Markey (1991: The Year Punk Broke). Stay tuned until the grand finale, when a special guest makes a sly appearance. Join Bob and his bandmates Jason Narducy and Jon Wurster on tour in “The War“.

Bob and director Dave Markey will chat with fans on September 9 at 3:30pm EST during a Reddit AMA session. Ask Bob and Dave any burning questions you have pertaining to the new video, Beauty & Ruin, the history of Punk Rock or just about anything else.

Experience the exciting and cathartic nature of Bob’s live show when he brings it to a nearby city. As the Minneapolis Star Tribune witnessed over Labor Day Weekend during a secret show that was announced the day prior and took a mere10 minutes to sell out:

“Mould didn’t allow his bandmates time to catch their breath during most of the first set before tearing into the next song. There was even less room in the second run… he struggled to read the set list at his feet toward show’s end, but that was because he had to take off his glasses. No exaggeration: The lenses kept fogging up from the steam coming off the stage.”

Live Nation and Yahoo will be live-streaming the September 5 kick-off of Bob and the band’s next run of dates in its entirety live from the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia. This Bob Mould event is one of 365 concerts to stream over a 12-month period on the Live Nation Channel on Yahoo Screen, and will go live at 10:10pm EST/7:10pm PST on September 5 at https://screen.yahoo.com/live/event/bob-mould.

Bob and his band will be making stops in the US and Europe throughout the fall. See where they are heading next by visiting http://bobmould.com/tour/.

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS RELEASE NEW SINGLE “GIVE US A KISS / JUBILEE STREET (LIVE FROM THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE)” FROM 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH

20,000 DAYS ON EARTH NEW YORK RELEASE EVENT TO BE BROADCAST LIVE BY NOISEY

20,000 Days on Earth
20,000 Days on Earth

“One day you’ll get into Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds because sooner or later everyone does, and when you do you’ll realize they’re the finest live band on the planet.” – Vice

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have released two previously unavailable tracks: “Give Us A Kiss” and “Jubilee Street (live from The Sydney Opera House)”. The songs from the award-winning feature 20,000 Days On Earth will be available digitally on September 4 with a limited edition vinyl 10” to be released onNovember 10. Pre-order the vinyl here and purchase the digital single on iTunes.

Additionally, Nick Cave will celebrate the United States theatrical release of 20,000 Days on Earth with a special screening at New York’s Town Hall. The screening will be followed by a rare Nick Cave solo piano performance as well as an audience conversation segment featuring Cave and 20,000 Days on Earth directors Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth. Tickets for this exclusive release event will be available for purchase by the general public at 12pm EST on Saturday, September 6 with a special fan presale occurring on Friday, September 5 at 12pm EST. Visit www.nickcave.com/live for further information.

For those who are unable to attend the Town Hall screening. Drafthouse Films and Noisey have partnered to live stream the happenings. For more information on Noisey’s coverage, visit http://noisey.vice.com/blog/noisey-presents-nick-cave-at-town-hall.

The film’s directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard spoke of the impact the band and their music has had on them and their debut feature 20,000 Day On Earth since shooting Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds live at Sydney Opera house on their 2013 Push The Sky Away tour.

“’Jubilee Street’ forced its way into our film. We’d planned to end with ‘Push The Sky Away’ and it’s pertinent lyrics about rock ‘n’ roll getting you right down to your soul; but after the band played ‘Jubilee Street’ at Sydney Opera House we didn’t stand a chance. Only four songs in and there was Nick, transforming in front of us. Our lives haven’t been the same since.”

The film constructs a narrative and cinematic reality that seamlessly blends performance and storytelling with emotional truths. Neither a music documentary nor a concert film, 20,000 Days On Earth contains not just electrifying performances, but also keen insights into the creative process: we see a song grow from the tiniest of ideas sketched out by Cave in his office to a monstrous epic performed by the peerless Bad Seeds on stage at Sydney Opera House.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds fifteenth studio album Push The Sky Away was released in 2013 to a chorus of laudatory global reviews, charting at number 1 in seven countries. With their recent US shows were extolled as “rock and fucking roll at its finest” by Mother Jones, and hailed by their fans as their best yet, the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds story continues to unfold and grow.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, Thomas Wydler, Jim Sclavunos, Conway Savage, Barry Adamson and George Vjestica.

Bob Mould has confirmed that he will make his debut appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight at11:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The full band performance of material from Bob’s critically acclaimed current album Beauty & Ruin (Merge) promises to be a harbinger of peaks to come on his upcoming tour (see below for a full list of dates).

This Bob Mould event is one of 365 concerts to stream over a 12-month period on the Live Nation Channel on Yahoo Screen, and will go live at 10:10pm EST/7:10pm PST onSeptember 5 at https://screen.yahoo.com/live/event/bob-mould.

Beauty & Ruin was released June 3 on Merge Records, debuting in the top 40 of the U.S. album chart and generating some of the most enthusiastic praise of Bob’s career, including:

“ageless… unfettered ferocity and humble grace.” — AV CLUB

“Few are better at making smart, hooky rock. The title stands in complete contrast to the joy of blasting the song full volume, and getting the feeling that Mould knows himself better than ever.” – NPR MORNING EDITION

“Mould is on a roll… ranks up there with his catchiest…  joyously unconcerned with proving anything to anyone other than the fact that he can still craft hook after hook.” — PITCHFORK

“The former Sugar and Hüsker Dü frontman sounds fully invigorated here… Mould rips through 12 bristling guitar-pop tracks that, at their propulsive and tuneful best, recall the classic eras of his much-loved former bands.” – ROLLING STONE

“It doesn’t feel like a stretch to say Beauty & Ruin scrapes the same eight-miles-high stratosphere as his best work with Hüsker Dü, Sugar, and under his own name… vital music from a living legend – a master class in the sort of gleaming, guitar-powered alt-rock that Mould helped to invent.” – STEREOGUM

Bob and his longtime bandmates bassist Jason Narducy and drummer Jon Wurster will be returning to the road in support of Beauty & Ruin through the fall. The next series of North American dates is listed below.

PAUL McCARTNEY: PRODUCTION ISSUES DELAY RELEASE OF VENUS AND MARS AND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND

New UK Release Date: November 3 / New US Release Date: November 4

Due to production issues the release of the latest albums in the GRAMMY Award-winning Paul McCartney Archive Collection will be delayed. The classic Wings albums Venus and Mars and At The Speed of Sound will now be released on November 3 in the UK and November 4 in the US and not the previously announced September dates.

Since launching the Paul McCartney Archive Collection in 2010, Paul has received two GRAMMY Awards for the releases. In 2012, he picked up Best Historical Album for Band on the Run and this year Wings over America picked up an award (Best Boxed or Special Edition Package) on the same night that Paul set a personal best by picking up five awards in just one night. In 2013, RAM was nominated for Best Historical Album.

In keeping with the Archive Collection tradition, all aspects of this project have been overseen by Paul McCartney and the packages, including bonus and previously unreleased material, are a must have for all fans.
