The dates kick off on October 26th with two shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. Give Up (Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition) will be released April 9 on Sub Pop. The reissue includes the remastered original 10-track album along with 15 bonus tracks, including the brand new “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String,” a previously unreleased live recording, and every other official recording the band has ever released, as well as cover versions of Postal Service classics by The Shins and Iron & Wine.
Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello a/k/a The Postal Service recently announced the band’s first headline dates in a decade, including an already sold out return to New York June 14 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The Postal Service’s UK headline dates May 18 at Manchester’s Academy 2 and May 20 at London’s Brixton Academy sold out immediately, necessitating the addition of a second London date which sold out in less than 24 hours. The band’s two California shows, at the Mondavi Center in Davis on April 10 and the Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo on April 12, also sold out within minutes. The Postal Service 10th anniversary tour will reunite Gibbard and Tamborello with Jenny Lewis (Jenny & Johnny, Rilo Kiley), who appeared on the original album and played with the band on its 2003 dates. In the wake of NME debuting the track “Torn Maps” and NPR’s alt.latino hailing it as “infectious” in a January 31 piece titled “Strange Trip: 5 Songs That Transport You,” Bosnian Rainbows further unveils itself to the world with its first series of east coast dates.
Having been on the road since August, touring extensively in Europe, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and on the west coast and making a US festival debut at last September’s Fun Fun Fun Fest, Bosnian Rainbows now embark on a headlining run beginning February 15 in Atlanta.
The band is comprised of Teri Gender Bender (vocals), Nicci Kasper (keys, bass synth), Deantoni Parks (drums, keys) and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (guitar, keys, backing vocals).
“It was all recorded live, analog to 2″ tape” says Rodriguez-Lopez of Bosnian Rainbows, ”No playback. No laptops. Just four musicians creating the sound being heard. Minimal and elemental. …Funny how that works, experimenting with everything under the sun just to end up stripping everything down.”
