Jeremy Gara, drummer of Arcade Fire, releases his first solo album Limn on March 11, 2016 on NRCSS Industry.

Mastered by Helge Sten (Deathprod, Supersilent), produced and recorded by Jeremy over many months while on tour and in the moments in between, and assembled this last fall at home, Limn is a melodic, dense, and noisy ambient record. It’s a collection of organized improvisations, of solo creative moments in response to familiar collaborative efforts.

Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Jeremy has been a member of Arcade Fire since 2004. In the past few years he’s spent his energies outside of the band collaborating with a wide variety of artists: bandmates Sarah Neufeld, Will Butler, Tim Kingsbury, as well as other artists such as Michael Feuerstack, Susanna Wallumrød, Owen Pallett, Nedelle Torrisi, to name a few.

Most recently he’s been seen filling in occasionally for Fred Armisen, playing drums in the 8G Band on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Yesterday, Stereogum broke the news of Patch The Sky in the form of a Cover Story for which Bob took writer Ryan Leas on a historical walking tour of Bob’s own New York. Over the course of an epic day’s journey covering multiple locations and eras throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, Bob offered up unique insight into his singular personal history and experiences that have informed his present and future. His overall approach to writing, how his work always catalogues his life, this “third act” resurgence he’s found himself in were all explored—including Patch The Sky’s place on the ongoing saga and the power he finds working with his longtime band in the studio and onstage.

The Wilderness is the band’s sixth album, and first non-soundtrack effort since 2011’s Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. Arguably the most progressive instrumental rock album since EITS’ 2003 breakthroughThe Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, The Wilderness is a bold, experimental work combining the singular song craft that has sold hundreds of thousands of albums and tickets with the cinematic sensibility that has elevated the band to the level of regard and demand its members enjoy as film composers (Lone Survivor, Manglehorn, Prince Avalanche, Friday Night Lights).

In the aftermath of the horrific and senseless terrorist attacks on Paris on November 13, 2015—in which so many innocent lives were taken at that evening’s Eagles Of Death Metal show at Le Bataclan—it was none other than Duran Duran who reached out with an immediate and sincere act of musical solidarity: In response to a fan-led campaign to push Eagles Of Death Metal’s cover of Duran Duran’s classic “Save A Prayer” to #1 in the UK, Simon LeBon tweeted that the new romantic icons would donate their share of royalties from the track to charity.

In the weeks that followed, Eagles Of Death Metal asked its musical family to extend the victims of the Paris attacks the same kindness and compassion that everyone from the members of U2 to the French authorities had shown the band—to join the Play It Forward EODM Campaign. EODM asked artists the world over to cover “I Love You All The Time” from its current album Zipper Down. For every cover sold, the band pledged to donate 100% of its publishing income to The Sweet Stuff Foundation, the non-profit organization founded in 2013 by EODM co-founder Joshua Homme to provide assistance to musicians and their families in times of need, as well as musical education and gear for the next generation. Participating artists were also asked to donate the money generated from sales of the song to the charity.

This week, Eagles Of Death Metal is overwhelmed with gratitude by the generosity and empathy made manifest in the first wave of “I Love You All The Time” covers being released by the following artists, all of whom are donating any royalties due them for these performances. PJ Harvey returns next year with a new record documenting a unique artistic journey, which took her to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. The album was recorded during a month-long, open to the public “Recording in Progress” residency at London arts and cultural center Somerset House. Audiences were given the opportunity to observe Harvey at work with her band and producers in a custom-built studio.

This film clip provides a glimpse of what’s to come from PJ Harvey’s ninth long player. The new album follows 2011’s Let England Shake, the record that made PJ Harvey the only artist to be awarded the Mercury Prize twice (the previous win being for Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea in 2001).

And on December 17th, following the single’s U.S. premiere via NPR Music, the theatrical interpretation of ‘Lazarus’ will make the leap from stage to screen, when Michael C. Hall and the musicians from the musical perform the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Meanwhile the first single from ★ continues to draw universal raves from the likes of NPR (“one of the most adventurous living artists still pushing himself”), Billboard (“strange, fabulous and fascinating”), and most recently The Los Angeles Times (“a gorgeous work and more evidence that Bowie’s late-career reinvention continues”).
