FOO FIGHTERS: BACK AND FORTH DEBUTS #1 ON BILLBOARD DVD CHART

“a classic rockumentary arc… Dave Grohl has lived an extraordinarily cinematic life (FOUR STARS)”–ROLLING STONE

http://us.foofightersfilm.com/

Having sold some 10,000 DVDs and downloads since its release, the feature-length documentary Foo Fighters: Back & Forth (Spitfire/Roswell/RCA) has debuted at #1 on the Billboard DVD chart.

Foo Fighters: Back & Forth was released digitally via iTunes June 7, on DVD June 14, and is available on Blu-Ray exclusively at Best Buy through July 12.

From Academy Award winning director James Moll (The Last Days, Running The Sahara) and Spitfire Pictures’ Grammy and Peabody award winning producer Nigel Sinclair (Bob Dylan: No Direction Home, The Last Play at Shea) , Foo Fighters: Back & Forth chronicles every stage of Foo Fighters’ 16-years-and-counting career: From Dave Grohl’s cassette demos through their ascent to their current status as one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. Intimate one on ones with Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, former members and other associates recall every triumph and tragedy of the band’s existence, culminating in a behind the scenes look at the direct-to-analog tape sessions in Grohl’s garage with producer Butch Vig that produced the seventh FF album Wasting Light–which debuted #1 in a dozen countries (including the band’s first U.S. #1) and is currently perched at #12 on the U.S. album chart.

Foo Fighters are currently in the midst of a worldwide tour that will include a sold out 130,000-capacity July 2-3 headline weekender at Milton Keynes Bowl in the UK, a headline appearance at Lollapalooza 2011, and North American arena dates running through November and beyond. PAUL McCARTNEY: SECOND CHICAGO AND MONTREAL DATES ADDED BY POPULAR DEMAND

Due to overwhelming popular demand, Paul McCartney’s On The Run tour has added second shows in Montreal and Chicago . The newly announced dates are July 27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal and August 1 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.

Tickets for the additional shows are on sale now: Chicago tickets can be purchased at Tickets.com and via 1-800-THE-CUBS, while Montreal tickets are available at the Bell Centre Box Office, by phone at (514) 790-2525 or 1 877 668-8269, or online www.evenko.ca

The new shows bring Paul McCartney’s On The Run tour to a tally of eight North American dates, kicking off July 15 and 16 with McCartney’s first ever shows at Yankee Stadium in New York City, and proceeding through July 24 at Comerica Park in Detroit, July 26 and 27 at Montreal’s Bell Centre, July 31 and August 1 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and August 4 at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Each and every one of this summer’s On The Run dates can safely be predicted to feature nearly three hours of the world’s most familiar and beloved music, with hits, deep cuts and surprises spanning McCartney’s unrivaled catalogue of Beatles, Wings, solo and Fireman classics.

McCartney’s recently completed Up and Coming Tour played over three dozen shows to more than 1,000,000 fans from its March 2010 start through its June 10, 2011 conclusion at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, drawing arguably the most enthusiastic audiences and critical noticecs of McCartney’s peerless near-50-year career, including:

“Some things are ageless, and McCartney’s one of them — he still radiates youthfulness like a packed playground. At a sold-out MGM Grand Garden… He was a study in nonchalance, ambling about the huge arena stage as if he was performing in his living room in front of a small group of friends.”–LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

“A Paul McCartney concert makes up for every bad show you’ve ever seen in your life. Seriously… The strange thing about seeing a Paul McCartney concert is, after three hours, you actually feel lighter, your feet hurt less – buoyed on by Paul’s constant smiles and some of the greatest music ever”–AMERICAN SONGWRITER

“Of the 15,000-plus who attended this show, most, I’m assuming, will put it down as one of their favorite shows ever. It was one of those shows – certainly the year’s best, certainly among the best ever at the Sprint Center and probably among anyone’s shows of a lifetime. Expectations were high coming in; he exceeded them.”–KANSAS CITY STAR

“It’s hard to think of much in the pop music world more impressive than a 67-year-old musician  holding forth for nearly three hours, outdoors on a chilly March night, while delivering some three dozen songs, the least of which would be a career highlight for almost any other artist.”–THE LOS ANGELES TIMES

“McCartney is more like Superman. Watching him perform 40 vocally demanding songs over nearly three hours Saturday night… one could only wonder: How does he do it?”–MIAMI HERALD

“If a reanimated Abraham Lincoln came to town to redeliver the Gettysburg Address (in its entirety) in the flesh, it wouldn’t have trumped this show… From musicality to sheer spectacle to momentous, life-affirming jubilation, Paul McCartney’s Nashville debut at Bridgestone Arena Monday night was an all-out master class in rock ‘n’ roll showmanship… The band was flawless. The arrangements were elegant. The pacing was perfect. The production was dazzling, but never distracting. And most importantly, Sir Paul’s charisma and infectious good nature humanized him, making us feel like we’d made a new friend, while also getting the privilege of an evening in the titanic presence of a true rock god. A master.”–NASHVILLE SCENE

“You hear about all these things, but until you actually sit just a few yards away and witness McCartney in action for close to three hours, it’s impossible to understand how they all conspire to make Sir Paul such an absolute whirlwind… What was really amazing was taking in the full scope of songs that have come out of this man… It was hard to believe that pop music was ever so good, that life was so good.”–SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

As on his Live 2009 tour and Up and Coming’s 2010 run and every Paul McCartney tour since 2002, Paul will be backed by the combo the LAS VEGAS SUN called “his best band since, well, the Beatles”: Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica, backing vocals), Rusty Anderson (guitar, backing vocals), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums, backing vocals) and Brian Ray (guitar, bass, backing vocals).

In addition to overwhelming levels of critical acclaim wherever McCartney has recently played across North America, South America and the UK, last year saw many career firsts for Paul. These included rocking The White House in front of President Barack Obama and his family in June when Paul was made the first ever British recipient of the prestigious Gershwin Prize For Popular Song.  Paul returned to the White House in December (where even the President joked about Paul becoming a regular there) to be awarded with a Kennedy Center Honor. Paul ended 2010 with a December 11 visit to Saturday Night Live in New York City followed by a career landmark first ever performance at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater on December 13 and three intimate homecoming shows in the UK.  He played the smallest club show of his career at London’s legendary 100 Club to just 300 people, which made headlines as far as China.  The final two shows were at the Hammersmith Apollo and at Liverpool’s O2 Academy, both of which broke venue box office records.

McCartney kicked off his 2011 live agenda last month with his  first ever show in Peru, his first Chilean gig since 1993, and two blockbuster shows at Rio de Janeiro’s Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange, which also resulted in the first ever concert to be broadcast live on the internet throughout Latin America–allowing over 1.5 million fans who were unable to snap up one of the 100,000 tickets to share in the magic.

Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear will be playing hits spanning the Foo Fighters’ catalogue of multi-platinum arena anthems, including new staples such as the 13-week Modern Rock #1 “Rope” and “Walk,” the band’s latest single and subject of the brilliant Sam Jones-directed parody of the classic crime drama Falling Down. Already a viral sensation, the “Walk” clip has been viewed more than a million times since its June 2 premiere. Embed code is below:

ON THE RUN TOUR TO NOW PLAY FRIDAY JULY 15 & SATURDAY JULY 16 IN NEW YORK

Tickets On Sale 11 a.m. Today

(NEW YORK, NY–June 13, 2011) In response to overwhelming popular demand for tickets to Paul McCartney’s July 15 Yankee Stadium debut, a second date has been confirmed for Saturday, July 16.

Tickets for the July 16 show will go on sale 11 a.m. today at the same time as the general on sale for July 15.

McCartney’s historic first ever shows at the storied Yankee Stadium will kick off his 2011 On The Run tour, and mark nearly two years to the day since his legendary July 17, 18 & 21, 2009 concerts, immortalized on the Grammy-winning gold-certified Good Evening New York City CD/DVD.

Having played some three dozen shows to over 1,000,000 fans over the course of last year, McCartney has been drawing arguably the most enthusiastic audiences and critical notices of the beloved Beatles, Wings-man and solo artist’s peerless near-50-year career, including:

“McCartney’s three-hour, 40-song show was fantastic… Considering he’s been one of the most prominent musicians in the world since the early 1960s, and has toured extensively over the years, you’d think McCartney would have long-ago tapped every jug in the cellar. The fact that he hasn’t is just one more reason to appreciate him.”–PHOENIX NEW TIMES

A proper festival headliner whose played for hundreds of thousands and appeared on national TV (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNoPNC3ebYQ) in the UK and Europe, the three-string-slinger is now primed for widespread appreciation in his native U.S. with You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks, his first full length album for Third Man Records.

The 12-track album will be available digitally from May 31, with a vinyl LP release following June 7. Orders for a $20 bundle package of You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks and  Blue Series single TMR-098–on which Seasick Steve first teamed up with Jack White to cover two Mississippi Fred McDowell classics–“Write Me a Few Lines” and “Levee Camp Blues”–are now being taken at http://www.thirdmanrecords.com/

You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks was recorded in the fall of 2010, produced by the Dog hisself (a/k/a Seasick Steve) and Henry James Wold, and mixed by Vance Powell at Air Studios in London.

EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY FALL 2011 U.S. TOUR DATES CONFIRMED

In the wake of its new album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care debuting at #16 in the U.S., selling approximately 30,000 units since its April 26 release on Temporary Residence Ltd., Explosions In The Sky has confirmed dates and cities for the next North American leg of its ongoing 2011 tour.

Fan club pre-sale for the new dates begin Wednesday, May 25 with general on sale following Friday, May 27.

Explosions In The Sky is currently in the midst of a UK/Europe headline tour that has featured sold out headline engagements at the Roundhouse in London and Le Bataclan in Paris. The fall 2011 shows are the latest in an ongoing itinerary that recently saw the band play sell-out dates April 30 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery and May 1 at the Fox Theater in Oakland, as well as its biggest ever headline show April 6 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall–of which The New York Times said “the movie-palace splendor of Radio City Music Hall made an appropriately majestic backdrop for Explosions In The Sky.”

Between the current UK/Europe run and the Fall 2011 tour, Explosions In The Sky will play the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester TN and a June 17 headline date at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in its homebase of Austin TX.

Explosions In The Sky has also announced its first confirmed show of 2012: January 27 at Brixton Academy in London. The 4500-capacity venue will be the band’s biggest UK headline to date, and follows on its sold out May 19 appearance at the Roundhouse in London.

Recorded at Sonic Ranch in El Paso TX by John Congleton and produced by the band, Take Care, Take Care, Take Care is Explosions In The Sky’s fifth album. The record was mixed by Congleton at Austin TX’s Public Hi Fi studio and features artwork by longtime visual collaborator Esteban Rey.
