In the wake of the triumphant headline stand at the Austin City Limits festival that the Austin American Statesman called “A Marathon to Remember Forever,”  Paul McCartney has added four new stadium plays to the upcoming U.S. leg of his new Freshen Up tour. The newly confirmed dates make for a total of 12 confirmed shows on Paul’s first extended Stateside run since the One On One Tour that played to some two million fans around the world during 2016 and 2017.

The Freshen Up tour is Paul’s first outing following the release of his #1 charting album, Egypt Station, released September 7th on Capitol Records to stellar reviews: Rolling Stone raved, “Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this… And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth,” while Entertainment Weekly described the album as “the still-vital life force of a superstar who has been there and everywhere and is glad just to be here now.”

The newest additions to the U.S. leg of Freshen Up include Paul’s first ever appearances at Lambeau Field in Green Bay WI on June 8th, and Globe Life Park in Arlington TX on June 14th. On June 22nd and July 13th, respectively, Paul will return to Petco Park in San Diego and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, both of which hosted unforgettable Paul performances to capacity crowds on his 2014 Out There tour.

The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a show: Nearly three hours nightly of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives. Paul and his band have played an unparalleled range of venues and locations throughout the Americas, the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and all points between: outside the Coliseum in Rome, Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, The White House, a free show in Mexico for over 400,000 people, the last ever show at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert in 1966, a 2016 week in the California desert that included two headline sets at the historic Desert Trip festival and a jam-packed club gig for a few hundred lucky fans at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, and even one performance broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul’s band of the last 15+ years – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) –and constantly upgraded state of the art audio and video technology that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house, a Paul McCartney concert is never anything short of life-changing.

Tickets will be on sale for the new dates 10am local time on Thursday, December 13th, with the exception of Green Bay, which will be on sale 10am local Monday, December 10th.

American Express® Card Members in Green Bay can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Wednesday, December 5 at 10am through Sunday, December 9 at 10pm local time and in Arlington, San Diego and Los Angeles beginning Monday, December 10 at 10AM through Wednesday, December 12 at 10PM local time.

On November 19th, Thom Yorke sat down for an interview and solo performance at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The session features four songs—three from Thom’s original soundtrack for the Luca Guadagnino film—and a rare in-depth discussion of the creative processes involved in Suspiria and beyond.

A video of Thom’s performance of “Open Again” is live now at https://youtu.be/hJ9ljQXIrY4.

The session will be broadcast on December 4 KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, with additional airings confirmed for Wednesday, December 5 on WYMS (Radio Milwaukee), Friday, December 7 on WFUV (New York) along with airings on KEXP Seattle, WXPN Philadelphia, KCMP Minneapolis & KVOQ Denver to be scheduled. SIRIUS XMU will begin airing the session Wednesday, December 12, with repeats through Sunday, December 16.

Recently named by the AV CLUB as one of the best film soundtracks of 2018, Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) was released October 26 on XL Recordings. The album consists of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Guadagnino’s reimagining of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic. The album is a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and more traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals including “Open Again,” “Has Ended,” “Suspirium,” and “Unmade”–the latter two having recently been performed for the first time before live audiences on Thom’s current Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes tour.

Suspiria was written and arranged by Thom Yorke, recorded and produced by Thom and Sam Petts-Davies. The album also features the London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, Noah Yorke on drums on “Volk” and “Has Ended,” and Pasha Mansurov on solo flute on “Suspirium.”

Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) is available across digital platforms, as well as 2-LP gatefold package pink vinyl and 2-CD physical versions.

Tickets On Sale Friday, December 7

And Nothing Hurt Out Now on Fat Possum Records

Following two intimate US performances in 2018, described by VOGUE as “revelatory” and by UPROXX as “staggering grandeur… every single person was laser-focused on that stage and soaking in every bit of the music emitting from it,” Spiritualized have confirmed a full 2019 North American tour in support of their critically acclaimed album And Nothing Hurt (Fat Possum).

Spiritualized will kick off the N.A. tour in March with an appearance at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, continuing with stops in cities including Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco and Brooklyn. See below for the full list of dates.

Presales begin Wednesday, December 5th at 10am local time; tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, December 7th at 10am local time.

Following its release in September, And Nothing Hurt was unanimously praised by critics, who raved:

“The new Spiritualized album is fucking great. It’s awesome. It’s suspiciously awesome…it’s glorious…every time I listen to And Nothing Hurt, I feel myself being lifted and swept away and moved. Every time I hear it, I feel a little more alive…I’m just as glad that Pierce sat at home, figuring things out, and then came along to utterly destroy us with a record this astonishing. You’re not fooling yourself. And Nothing Hurt really is that good.” STEREOGUM (ALBUM OF THE WEEK)

“Arguably the purest and most sentimental music J. Spaceman, a.k.a. Jason Pierce, has crafted…Nothing Hurt is the band distilled into its most affecting essence….if this really is the final Spiritualized album, as Pierce keeps threatening, it’s one hell of a grand statement to go out on.”AV CLUB

“it stands tall as a late candidate for the year’s best rock record. Spiritualized has added yet another chapter to its wild, dreamlike musical legacy, proving that rock isn’t dead and that maybe everyone else just isn’t trying enough.”CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

“Distills and gathers the essence of what has often made Spiritualized so powerful…intricacy is the real delight of And Nothing Hurt. Despite the grandeur of these tunes, and the way they seem built to fill both regal concert halls and big, dark rock clubs, the best way to listen to them might be at home with lights out or eyes closed, headphones clamped tight…Pierce’s authorial scrupulousness and the same slavish devotion to an ideal that made Ladies and Gentlemen… a masterpiece and Spacemen 3 an institution gives these songs, one by one, their power.”PITCHFORK

“Gorgeous…what binds his gushing tunefulness and subtly cutting lyrics is the relationship between the universal quest for transcendence and the near-universal suspicion it’ll never be found…something more wrenchingly true to life, an alloy of hope with a sense of life’s limits.”THE ATLANTIC

MassEducation: Reimagining of MASSEDUCTION Out Now on Loma Vista

Following her December 2nd performance at the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors honoring Philip Glass with an intricate yet passionate instrumental performance “which received an enthusiastic two-thumbs up from a delighted Glass,” as reported by Billboard, St. Vincent will appear live during the New York City residency of Live from Here with Chris Thile (formerly A Prairie Home Companion).

On December 15th, Annie Clark—accompanied only by piano player Thomas Bartlett—will perform from the stage of New York’s Town Hall as part of a live broadcast from Minnesota Public Radio’s weekly musical mainstay.

Check https://www.livefromhere.org/listen/stations for local air-times.

St. Vincent’s MassEducation was released October 12th on Loma Vista, and was received by Rolling Stone as “the deep breath after the freak-out… less dense structures allowing Clark’s compositional and vocal talents to shine,” and Entertainment Weekly as “riveting reinterpretations… exposed and unadorned… a testament to her versatile songwriting and remarkable vocal strength.” MassEducation is in fact another dimension of last year’s universally acclaimed MASSEDUCTION. Recorded live in the studio over two nights in 2017, MassEducation lays bare the exquisite songcraft of its other half. Performed entirely by Annie Clark on vocals and Thomas Bartlett on piano, the new album renders songs like “Young Lover” and “Fear The Future” and their subjects in vivid, vulnerable new light. Clark herself describes the album as “two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City.”

DAVID BOWIE is… VIRTUAL

DAVID BOWIE is… VIRTUAL

RECORD-BREAKING EXHIBITION COMES TO DIGITAL/INTERACTIVE LIFE

MOBILE APP TO BE RELEASED JANUARY 8, 2019

Groundbreaking Collaboration Between David Bowie Archive and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc.

https://davidbowieisreal.com/

David Bowie is, the record-breaking exhibition that drew over 2 million visitors across 12 cities – the most visited touring exhibition in the history of the V&A – has been granted digital immortality. David Bowie is, curated by Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, was the first exhibition of its kind and has set the standard for others to follow. The visual richness of this show and visionary nature of Bowie and his music made this a must for virtual reality.

Beginning on January 8, 2019 (which would have been Bowie’s 72nd birthday), the David Bowie isAugmented Reality mobile app will be available in iOS and Android —granting access to the show’s hundreds of costumes, videos, handwritten lyrics, original works of art and more to the tens of millions of Bowie fans unable to visit the exhibition before it shuttered permanently on July 15, 2018. This virtual reality adaption of David Bowie is will enable the visitor to spend as long as desired on individual items and jump to others.

The David Bowie is AR mobile app is the first release resulting from a collaboration between the David Bowie Archive and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., who hosted the exhibition in Tokyo in 2017. The New York-based studio Planeta is designing and developing the AR/VR interpretations of the original museum experience at the V&A. The AR adaptation, a first of its kind, mirrors the physical exhibition through a sequence of audio-visual spaces through which the works and artifacts of Bowie’s life can be explored. 3D renderings preserve and present his costumes and treasured objects such as musical scores, storyboards, handwritten lyrics, and even diary entries–all in 360-degree detail, enabling intimate “behind the glass” access rivaling that of the visitors to the original exhibit, and enhanced by an immersive audio experience featuring Bowie’s music and narration, best experienced with headphones.

Additionally, the David Bowie is mobile app will feature dozens of items not featured in the original exhibition – including some entirely new and exclusive to this AR version.

Like the David Bowie is touring exhibition, the AR and VR versions will be offered in seven different languages. The AR mobile app is the first phase of this innovative initiative, with the VR format scheduled for later release.

Also on show is photography by Brian Duffy, Terry O’Neill, and Masayoshi Sukita; album sleeve artwork by Guy Peellaert and Edward Bell; cover proofs by Barnbrook for the album The Next Day (2013); visual excerpts from films and live performances including The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976); music videos such as Life on Mars? THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN: MERRIE LAND

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE QUEEN: MERRIE LAND

Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Tony Allen and Simon Tong Return with Second Album Out Today

UK Dates Begin November 26

“…this album is a masterpiece… the best album of the year.” – Sunday Times Culture

“…Up there with the most evocative attempts by British pop to interpret its locality” – Mojo

“The music they wrote suggests no end of ghosts: off-key pub pianos, bass recorders, an abundance of old-school organ that instantly evokes the British Seaside.” – The Guardian

Presaged by the recently released “Gun To The Head” and its title track (featured in The New York Times’ Playlist)—as well as the band’s first live appearance in seven years on Later…. With Jools Holland—Merrie Land, the sophomore album from The Good, The Bad & The Queen is finally released today, November 16, 2018.

Merrie Land follows an 11-year hiatus since The Good, The Bad & The Queen’s self-titled 2007 debut, and is self-released on the newly created label Studio 13. Produced by Tony Visconti and The Good, The Bad & The Queen, Merrie Land contains 10 new songs – written during the current period in which the UK is preparing to leave the European Union – creating a reluctant good-bye letter, a series of observations and reflections on Britishness in 2018.

Merrie Land’s focus moves beyond GBQ’s London-themed first album to a wider land, with a beautiful and hopeful paean to the Britain of today, an inclusive Britain, currently in an Anglo Saxostentialist crises at the end of a relationship, wondering what might be salvaged. Could there be a more perfect band – with their creative symbiosis of pasts and present and shared acclaimed music histories – to reflect on the anticipation, disorientation and confusion of current life?

In preparation for their shows in Blackpool, Glasgow and London the band will play three intimate warm-up shows in Tynemouth, at the Tynemouth CIU Club on November 26th and Cullercoats Crescent Club on November 27th & 28th – each with a rare capacity of less than 100.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen is Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Tony Allen and Simon Tong.

ABOUT The Good, The Bad & The Queen

The Good, The Bad & The Queen began life as the acclaimed 2007 album of the
same name, a heartfelt tribute to London described by The Observer in a 5-star
review as –“One of the most surprising and magical records for which Damon Albarn
has ever been responsible”. The record traced a journey from the English music hall
tradition to West Africa and Afrobeat, zigzagging through the West Indies and its
reggae and dub, back to England and London’s punk scene, all the while taking in a
strand of British beat music from the ’50s right through to Britpop. The result was a
record specific to a place and mood but with a background that was geographically
wide-ranging.

PAUL MCCARTNEY: Previously unreleased versions of John Lennon-inspired ‘DEAR FRIEND’ available now

Previously unreleased home recorded & remastered
versions of the John Lennon-inspired track

‘DEAR FRIEND’

Both available now as instant grats HERE
Taken from the forthcoming reissue of

Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1971 debut album ‘Wild Life’

Wild Life will be reissued alongside the 1973 album ‘Red Rose Speedway’ on December 7th

Both reissues are part of the ongoing Grammy-award winning Paul McCartney Collection

Today, to mark the forthcoming reissues of Paul McCartney’s 11th and 12th classic works from his revered catalogue, ‘Dear Friend’, the John Lennon-inspired closing track to Paul McCartney And Wings’ debut album ‘Wild Life’, has been made available to hear as two special instant grats. The first a remastered version, and the second a beautifully intimate unreleased home recording. The re-releases come fully remastered and expanded across multi format installments of his GRAMMY-winning Archive Collection, to be released December 7, 2018 via MPL/Capitol/UMe.

Speaking of the track, Paul comments “With ‘Dear Friend’, that’s sort of me talking to John after we’d had all the sort of disputes about The Beatles break up. I find it very emotional when I listen to it now. I have to sort of choke it back. I remember when I heard the song recently, listening to the roughs [remastering works-in-progress] in the car. And I thought, ‘Oh God’. That lyric: ‘Really truly, young and newly wed’. Listening to that was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s true!’ I’m trying to say to John, ‘Look, you know, it’s all cool. Have a glass of wine. Let’s be cool.’ And luckily we did get it back together, which was like a great source of joy because it would have been terrible if he’d been killed as things were at that point and I’d never got to straighten it out with him. This was me reaching out. So, I think it’s very powerful in some very simple way. But it was certainly heartfelt.”

First up is the four-disc (3CD, 1DVD) limited deluxe edition of Wild Life, the debut album from Wings, originally released December 1971. Written by Paul and Linda McCartney (with the exception of a cover of Mickey & Sylvia’s ‘Love Is Strange’), Wild Life is beloved by fans for its raw and direct vibe–having been recorded in just over a week with the majority of tracks laid down in a single take. Wild Life’s limited deluxe edition treatment features the full album remastered at Abbey Road plus 25 bonus audio tracks including rough mixes of the album, original single edits, B-sides, home recordings and other previously unreleased material across three CDs. The set’s DVD features rare footage of acoustic home videos, rehearsals and more. The Wild Life deluxe package includes a 128- page book written by David Fricke telling the story behind the album – including track-by-track information and new interviews with Paul and key album personnel, a 48-page scrapbook of tour diaries, lyrics and set lists, unpublished Polaroids, lyrics, notes and memorabilia from the MPL archives. Wild Life’s download redemption card will provide access to all audio in HD 24/96kHz unlimited high-resolution versions.

Next up is a six-disc (3CD, 2DVD + 1Blu-ray) numbered limited deluxe edition of the second Wings album and first credited to Paul McCartney and Wings, Red Rose Speedway. Released in April 1973 and featuring the #1 single ‘My Love,’ Red Rose Speedway was the first Wings album to hit #1 on the U.S. chart. The Red Rose Speedway limited deluxe edition features three discs of audio including the original album remastered at Abbey Road, no less than 35 bonus audio tracks, including a reconstruction of the originally conceived double album version of Red Rose Speedway, singles, B-sides, alternate mixes and previously unreleased tracks. The 2DVD + Blu-ray portions of the deluxe are packed with rare and previously unseen footage, including the James Paul McCartney TV Special, interviews and music videos, as well as the never before seen film The Bruce McMouse Sho  fully restored and remixed in stereo and 5.1 surround sound. The package includes a folio containing 14 replica hand drawn original character sketches by Paul and facsimile dialogue sheets for the film, a 128-page book containing many previously unpublished images by Linda McCartney, expanded album and single artwork from the archives and story behind the album — including new interviews with Paul McCartney, and key album personnel — and track-by-track information, written by Amanda Petrusich, five replica handwritten lyric sheets and photo print, a 64-page ‘Wings In Morocco’ photo book, all housed in a numbered outer slipcase. The Red Rose Speedway download redemption card will provide access to all audio in HD 24/96kHz unlimited high-resolution versions.

Finally, the 11-disc Paul McCartney and Wings 1971–73 numbered limited edition super deluxe compilation features not only the entire contents of the Wild Life four-disc numbered limited deluxe edition and of the Red Rose Speedway 6-disc numbered limited deluxe edition—but also the exclusive live album, Wings Over Europe. This exclusive collection features 20 previously unreleased, newly mixed live tracks recorded over the course of 5 shows, an introduction featuring Paul recounting memories of the 1972 tour, a 96-page photo book including previously unreleased images by Linda McCartney and Captain Snap, a replica of the 1972 Wings Over Europe tour program, and access to downloadable 24/96kHz unlimited high-resolution audio versions.

The Paul McCartney Archive Collection debuted with the November 2, 2010 re-release of Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1973 milestone Band on the Run, which won the 2010 GRAMMY Award for Best Historical Album, while the Archive Collection’s Deluxe Edition Box Set of the 1976 classic Wings Over America took the 2013 GRAMMY for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. The most recent previous installment was 2017’s reissue of Paul’s eighth studio album Flowers In The Dirt, which ROLLING STONE called “spectacular… an extraordinary document,” and the OBSERVER hailed as “perhaps the greatest record to emerge from the world of AOR in 1989… an absolute pleasure to rediscover today.”

Every release in the ongoing Paul McCartney Archive Collection is supervised by Paul himself, who oversees all aspects of each and every title from remastering to the curation of lost tracks, outtakes, artwork, photographs and video from his personal vaults, and much more. The result is one of the most ambitious and personal undertakings of its kind, one that encompasses more than 40 years of cherished, classic material from the most successful songwriter and recording artist in music history.
