FOURTH TRACK RELEASED IN ADVANCE OF SUSPIRIA (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film)

ALBUM OUT OCTOBER 26 ON XL RECORDINGS

Animated Video by Ruff Mercy Live Now

Last night saw the release of the acoustic guitar and vocal ballad “Open Again,” the fourth song to be released in advance of Thom Yorke’s Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film).  “Open Again” follows the release of “Volk”—”a synth-laden and creepy instrumental that harkens back to the sounds of new wave foreign movies and horror classics of the ’70s and ’80s” (Consequence of Sound), “unsettling” (NPR) second track “Has Ended,” and first single “Suspirium”—described by The New York Times as “sweetly chilling” and Rolling Stone as “peak Yorke, and scary good.”

Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) will be released October 26 on XL Recordings.

Suspiria… consists of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Luca Guadagnino’s reimagining of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic. The album is a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and more traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals including the new “Open Again” and previously released “Suspirium,” the latter featuring the melodic theme that recurs throughout the film and its score.

As scoring a horror film presented Thom with altogether new challenges and opportunities, Suspiria stands apart from any of his other work. Piano/vocal ballads, Krautrock-esque modular synth work inspired by the film’s Berlin 1977 setting, multilayered vocals, and melodies that convey terror, longing and melancholy combine to create a chaotic yet cohesive musical spell.

Suspiria was written and arranged by Thom Yorke, recorded and produced by Thom and Sam Petts-Davies. The album also features the London Contemporary Orchestra and Choir, Noah Yorke on drums on “Volk” and “Has Ended,” and Pasha Mansurov on solo flute on “Suspirium.”

Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film) will be available across digital platforms, as well as 2-LP gatefold package pink vinyl and 2-CD physical versions.

PAUL McCARTNEY: “Come On To Me” (Official Video)

PAUL McCARTNEY

“Come On To Me” (Official Video)

Over the past week, Paul has introduced us to three nightshift workers who all share a love of dancing to ‘Come On To Me’, the latest track to be taken from his new studio album ‘Egypt Station’ (Capitol Records).

We’ve met Fred “Little Freddie” Maxwell (#COTMTeamFred) who loves hijacking the in-store sound system at the department store where he works as a security guard; Ali Almohri (#COTMTeamAli) who works at his family’s food truck hoping that one day the young woman he has a crush on will notice he’s looking for more than just casual conversation; and Elsa Morales (#COTMTeamElsa) who works two jobs to support her family whilst still managing to radiate good energy and be the epitome of positivity.

Elsa Morales

Today Paul reveals the official video for ‘Come On To Me’, bringing together all three stories / dance routines. Watch here – https://youtu.be/mSU4O7FzrRU

It may be a surprise to hear that Fred, Ali and Elsa are not professional dancers / actors – they were found by director TG Herrington, getting their acting debuts by sheer force of enthusiasm.

Paul now invites fans to film themselves dancing to ‘Come On To Me’ and to post videos to Instagram and Twitter using #COTMChallenge.

Currently on his worldwide Freshen Up Tour, Paul returns to the U.S in May 2019 for a string of U.S. shows beginning in New Orleans, LA.

Egypt Station was released in September and saw Paul score his first US #1 album in 36 years.

Following the release of her new album MassEducation, as well as her stunning performance during Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Brooklyn week—accompanied only by piano player Thomas Bartlett—St. Vincent confirms an intimate evening at Brooklyn’s esteemed BAM Harvey Theater on November 20th.

Audiences fortunate enough to have beheld the inspiring duo of Annie Clarke’s vocals and Bartlett’s mercurial playing live have been left dazzled, with critics praising the recent date at The Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles:

“She’s always defied expectations, and this show was no exception…it was a concert as powerful, rocking, compelling and strident as anything she’s ever done…she’s a versatile and powerful singer who can leap vocally, not unlike Bowie…she hasn’t reinvented songs — but has breathed new fire into them… to create new possibilities.”—AMERICAN SONGWRITER

“Her stage presence is a piece of art in its own right…in St. Vincent’s hands, nothing feels minor… It’s not just that she can do anything she tries, it’s that she does it well enough to make you reconsider everything you know about her… one of the most important contemporary musicians we have.”—UPROXX

Tickets to the BAM Harvey Theater performance will go on sale this Friday, October 19th at 10am EST, available here: http://bam.org/stvincent

St. Vincent’s new album MassEducation is out now on Loma Vista. Heralded by Entertainment Weekly as “riveting reinterpretations…exposed and unadorned, her pipes shine like never before — and infuse these old songs with fresh intensity, at times imbuing them with entirely new character…a testament to her versatile songwriting and remarkable vocal strength,” MassEducation is in fact another dimension of last year’s universally acclaimed MASSEDUCTION. Recorded live in the studio over two nights in 2017, MassEducation lays bare the exquisite songcraft of its other half. Performed entirely by Annie Clark on vocals and Thomas Bartlett on piano, the new album renders songs like “Young Lover” and “Fear The Future” and their subjects in vivid, vulnerable new light. Clark herself describes the album as “two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live Brooklyn Week Appearance October 16

St. Vincent’s new album MassEducation is available as of today, October 12, on Loma Vista Recordings (incidentally, the one year anniversary of the release of her previous MASSEDUCTION).

A stunning standalone work in its own right, MassEducation is in fact another dimension of last year’s universally acclaimed MASSEDUCTION.

At the same time that MassEducation was released, a live video of the new album’s arrangement of “Savior” premiered. Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait and mixed by Adam Jackson, the “Savior” clip features Clark and Bartlett in an intimate and arresting performance shot live at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles—a night that moved UPROXX to comment “with a new version of MASSEDUCTION on the horizon, those songs will instantly find their place as more essential work. It’s not just that she can do anything she tries, it’s that she does it well enough to make you reconsider everything you know about her.”

The duo of Clark and Bartlett will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live this Tuesday, October 16, playing a selection of MassEducation material as part of the show’s annual Brooklyn week event.

St. Vincent and her band—Toko Yasuda (bass, background vocals), Daniel Mintseris (keyboard) and Matt Johnson (drums)—will continue playing full-band shows including a Sunday, October 14 Austin City Limits Festival second weekend, as well as an October 29 headline engagement at the Hollywood Palladium.

MassEducation’s arrangements were debuted to the public over the course of two intimate evenings with Clark and Bartlett October 2 at The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles and September 4 at London’s Cadogan Hall—the latter moving Q magazine to state “… a showcase of both straightforward songcraft and unmediated stage presence, this evening was undoubtedly a victory.”

September 20-23 Exhibit Draws Hundreds
More Than a Dozen Paintings Sold

Next Show to be Announced

Luscious Jackson founding member Jill Cunniff’s first exhibition of original artwork, Lyric and Word Paintings, was a resounding success. Opening with a Thursday, September 20th acoustic show by Jill and friends, the exhibit lasted through Sunday, September 23rd at 198 Allen Street in New York City, drawing hundreds of people and selling more than a dozen paintings.

“Having an art show has been a dream of mine since I started painting as a teenager,” Jill commented. “The experience of performing music in this beautiful space full of art was seriously exciting! It was great to see and interact with all the people who came to the opening. I loved doing the Q and A during the concert, where I talked about the process of making art and how it relates to writing music. We ended up selling 14 paintings. I can’t wait to do another show when my next bunch of paintings are done.”

Lyric and Word Paintings was presented By PMM ART PROJECTS.

Details of Jill’s next exhibit will be announced as they are confirmed.

ST. VICIOUS DJ SET TONIGHT AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL

St. Vincent has confirmed an intimate evening unlike any of her previous public performances in the U.S., taking place October 2 in Los Angeles.

For one night only the musician also known as Annie Clark will sing a full set at the intimate Belasco Theater accompanied only by piano player Thomas Bartlett.

The Belasco engagement follows St. Vincent’s up close and personal September 4 show at London’s Cadogan Hall—an achievement that highlights another new dimension of this multifaceted artist, and that moved Q magazine to state “… a showcase of both straightforward songcraft and unmediated stage presence, this evening was undoubtedly a victory.”

In addition to the announcement of the Belasco Theater show, St. Vincent and her band—Toko Yasuda (bass, background vocals), Daniel Mintseris (keyboard) and Matt Johnson (drums)—will headline the Hollywood Palladium on October 29.

Fans who wish to attend the two unique performances will be able to purchase a specially priced ticket bundle while supplies last.

Of this latest identity of “Slow Disco” from last year’s acclaimed Masseduction, St. Vincent says, “Songs are living things. They grow, they evolve, they change their moods and personalities over time.”
