Having returned from a triumphant co-headlining Australia/New Zealand jaunt with NIN, Queens Of The Stone Age have wasted no time in teaming with director Hiro Murai (Childish Gambino, St. Vincent) for the just unveiled cinematic mini-epic for “Smooth Sailing,” the latest single from the hailed, hailed and more hailed international #1 album …Like Clockwork (Matador).
The definitely NSFW “Smooth Sailing” follows QOTSA’s Joshua Homme and cohorts on a delirious adventure that blossoms from garden variety drunken shenanigans to possibly the most nightmarishly accurate live action interpretation of a QOTSA song to date. Seriously, “Smooth Sailing” lends a new meaning to 3-D musical cinema-that is, it turns the 3 D’s into Drinking, Drugs and Death.
In addition to newly announced dates in Montreal, Bangor ME, Port Chester NY and Philadelphia, Queens Of The Stone Age have begun to confirm details of a South America tour for this fall, including stops in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay. For further information, ticketing etc., as always, go to http://qotsa.com/live.

Jack White has announced his first headline dates in support of his new album Lazaretto, out June 10th on Third Man Records/Columbia. The shows will be Jack’s first since his ambitious 2012 world tour supporting the gold-certified, multiple-GRAMMY-nominated, international #1 Blunderbuss.
Prior to the worldwide headline trek, Jack will commemorate Record Store Day (April 19th), by recording, pressing and releasing the World’s Fastest Released Record: a live version of the upcoming Lazaretto‘s title track recorded direct-to-acetate that morning in the blue room of Jack’s Third Man Records in Nashville. The masters will be rushed over to United Record Pressing who will immediately begin pressing 45s to be slipped into sleeves and then whisked back to Third Man to be sold.
Jack will officially kick off the world tour on May 29th at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK and continue with stops throughout North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom including two-night-stands in Jack’s native Detroit, Chicago, and Paris, as well as the previously announced summer festival headline appearances. The current run of shows wraps up in Canada, with an arena date at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre and a headline slot at the Osheaga Music & Arts Festival in Montreal.
Kelley Stoltz will open Jack’s headline dates from May 29th through June 5th. Benjamin Booker will support July 20th-31st. In anticipation of the April 19 Record Store Day release of the 5-LP vinyl edition of The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden (Warner Bros.), Rough Trade Records NYC Gallery will unveil LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye, an interactive gallery experience produced by Melee Media opening 12 noon on Monday, April 7 in the second floor gallery space of the store’s 64 N. 9th St. Brooklyn location.
Stephen Godfroy, Co-Owner of Rough Trade, commented, “The joy of having a record shop is being able to celebrate music as an art form, and over the last decade there have been few artists who’ve evolved music more as art form than LCD Soundsystem. Hosting this retrospective experience is therefore an incredibly synergistic and humbling moment for us, one we’re incredibly excited to share.”
LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will immerse attendees in the sounds, sights and emotions of the band’s historic April 2, 2011 farewell, an epic near 4-hour tour de force hailed by New York magazine as “a marvel of pure craft” and Rolling Stone as a “staggeringly great night.” LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will come alive in multiple dimensions via exclusive video, advance pressings of the album’s five vinyl LPs laid out on five turntables, and a massive assortment of 4″ x 6″ prints of images by longtime LCD photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya, many never before been seen–and all available for the taking and replenished weekly.
All told, LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye will provide the most vivid recreation imaginable of that once in a lifetime performance–a priceless experience for those who were unable to attend the instantly sold out MSG show immortalized in the Shut Up and Play The Hits documentary and the aforementioned upcoming live album, as well as for attendees wanting a unique multi-sensory trip through those memories.
The LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye exhibit will run April 7 through May 7 and will be open until 11 pm nightly.

About Ruvan Wijesooriya
Ruvan Wijesooriya is a photographer based in New York City. After starting a skateboard company, working for fashion stylists and being a music journalist in his first 25 years, Ruvan became attracted to the storytelling qualities of photography. His unique vision consistently and seamlessly blurs the lines between life, art and commerce in subject areas ranging from landscapes to fashion, music to flowers. His photographs tell stories and express sentiment, his approach is immediate, genuine and curious.
Ruvan is known for the interactive and happening nature of his exhibitions. Last Valentine’s Day he and friends plastered an NYC subway tunnel with pictures of kisses, hearts, pets and roses for subway riders to take. He recently made photography as performance in the creation of an advertising campaign for Roberto Cavalli. Ruvan will be making a photo installation at the Foam Photography Museum in Amsterdam this summer as part of a larger exhibition about contemporary fashion photography. His work about the influential NYC band, LCD Soundsystem, is showing at Rough Trade Records, through April, 2014. Ruvan’s prints are collected primarily by other artists and creatives such as Ed Ruscha, Michael Bastian and Doug Aitken.
LIMITED EDITION “LAZARETTO” SINGLE TO BE RECORDED LIVE, PRESSED & RELEASED APRIL 19 FOR RECORD STORE DAY
On April 19th, Record Store Day, Third Man Records will present Jack White recording the World’s Fastest Released Record, studio-to-store, in the history of mankind.
You heard correctly. First thing in the morning, Jack White will take the stage in Third Man’s blue room and record direct-to-acetate what will serve as the limited edition version of his next single, a live rendition of the title track from his upcoming LP Lazaretto. The masters will be rushed over to United Record Pressing who will immediately begin pressing 45s. The sleeves will be printed from pictures taken at the show. The finished records will be whisked back to Third Man to sell to awaiting fans. All in the same day. All in a matter of mere hours. As long as there are fans in line waiting to buy the single, United will continue to press and deliver them to Third Man to sell. Even if it takes all day.
In addition, Whirlwind Heat will appear at Third Man to play their first live show since 2006 (and likely their last ever), as their TMR classic Do Rabbits Wonder? LP is reissued on a variety of colored vinyl for Record Store Day.
Plus a great selection of local vendors will be on hand to keep everyone well-fed and refreshed… and there will, as always, be some surprises.
Tickets for this whole day – “Ultra Tickets” – are extremely limited and will be available exclusively through The Third Man Records Vault to Platinum Members. Ultra Ticket holders will get to watch Jack White live recording his World’s Fastest Record, Whirlwind Heat’s afternoon performance, and will receive copies of both The World’s Fastest Record 7″ and the Whirlwind Heat Record Store Day LP release–all without having to wait in line! Vault Platinum members who are ticket holders need only show up, see Jack White play, hang out for a bit and eat, watch Whirlwind Heat (last show EVER??) and then, as they leave, pick up their bag with both RSD releases. No lines. No stress.
For those who can’t score tickets, The World’s Fastest Record will be made available for sale from the front of Third Man Records as soon as copies are pressed. Anybody who shows up that day during business hours wanting to purchase a copy will get one. Third Man promises to deliver until all customers are satisfied (one per customer, obviously!). The World’s Fastest Record will only be available at Third Man Records on Record Store Day. One time only!
10am – Jack White recording World’s Fastest Record (limited edition “Lazaretto” 7″) and live show
2pm – Whirlwind Heat Live
4pm – Collect your RSD exclusives on your way out of the venue and enjoy your evening!
Jack White presents his new album Lazaretto, to be released June 10th on Third Man Records/Columbia. Lazarettoinhabits an exciting place in White’s expansive discography as the follow-up to 2012’s gold-certified international #1 Blunderbuss, and will be preceded by first single and title track “Lazaretto,” to be released later this month. While we await the debut of that first official single, listeners can experience a first taste of new music from the album and watch the Ben Swank-directed video for new instrumental track “High Ball Stepper” HERE.
The aforementioned Blunderbuss was the first U.S. #1 album of Jack’s storied career, also debuting at #1 in the UK, Canada, and, naturally, Switzerland. Blunderbuss was supported by an ambitious world tour featuring two backing bands, the all-male Buzzards and all-female Peacocks, notched up five GRAMMY nominations including Album of the Year, and dominated Best of 2012 lists, including being named MOJO’s #1 album of 2012.
In celebration of the new album and their 20th Vault package, Third Man has unveiled their most unique Vault package yet.
The LP for Third Man Records’ Vault package #20 will be the ONLY limited version of Lazaretto to be released. Pressed on split-color blue-and-white vinyl and coupled with exclusive album art, this alternate presentation of the album is both insightful and deserving. Also exclusive to the Vault is a fold-out poster accompanying the album, featuring a classic National Archives photo that serves as a recurrent image throughout the album art.
Unlike the lightning bolt and inverted lightning bolt pressings Third Man did for Jack White’sBlunderbuss, this alternate art and colored vinyl will be the only time ANY variation on Lazaretto will be made. Once subscriptions are closed and records are pressed… that’s it. Don’t sleep. Get in now or regret it later.
The 7-inch includes two early demos of songs that appear on Lazaretto in their completed form. Both “Alone in My Home” and “Entitlement” are solo recordings by Jack White, done while he was in Mexico. Pressed on lustrous blue vinyl and housed in the standard felt-weave, die-cut Third Man Vault 7-inch sleeve, both tracks offer a unique glimpse into the creative process and evolution of a song from its original germination to its final delivery.
The bonus item is a lavish 40-page hard bound companion piece book full of lyrics, exclusive musical notations, photos and art from Lazaretto. This is the perfect accompaniment to the listening experience and insight into both the album creation method and some of the inspiration (visual and otherwise) behind it.
In addition to these items, Vault package #20 will also include a linen, letter-pressed postcard with the same eye-popping color separations as evidenced in classic chromatic postcards popular in the first half of the 20th century. Stamps not included.
BEAUTY & RUIN PRE-ORDER LIVE NOW AT MERGE & ITUNES
OUT JUNE 3 IN NORTH AMERICA ON MERGE RECORDS, JUNE 9 WORLDWIDE
“His Thursday night SXSW set revealed an artist tired of looking back and ready to move forward – as loudly as possible.”-AUSTIN CHRONICLE
“Bob Mould still has it. He burned through songs with mad intensity… Mould is a true legend… Mould thanked the crowd for ‘putting up with the new songs,’ but it was obvious that no one present minded in the least.”-FLAGPOLE
“Guitar slung low and playing loud as hell, Mould started into tunes from his upcoming album, Beauty & Ruin, and it was some hard-hitting stuff that felt like it was slamming into you… I can’t wait to pick up the album”-OMAHA WORLD-HERALD/ROCK CANDY
Fresh off two triumphant sets at South By Southwest that debuted a good chunk of his upcoming Beauty & Ruin, Bob Mould has unveiled a first glimpse of that compact epic: The album track “Hey Mr. Grey” is now available to stream at https://soundcloud.com/mergerecords/bob-mould-hey-mr-grey/s-5GY8D
Having gone down a storm at those aforementioned SXSW shows, “Hey Mr. Grey” is as self-effacing as it is anthemic, a pure adrenalin shot in the vein of Bob’s late period Hüsker Dü and vintage Sugar work imbued with a self assured sense of both humor and acceptance. It’s also the tip of the iceberg (no pun intended… well, maybe…) of Beauty & Ruin‘s 36-minute journey: a sweeping exploration beginning with death and loss, through familiar relationship battlegrounds to an ultimate re-acknowledgment of his role in life (and the lives of countless others, no doubt) with an eye towards an optimistic future.
Available for pre-order as of today at Merge and iTunes, Beauty & Ruin will be released by Merge Records June 3 in North America, June 9 in the UK and Europe. The album’s release will be preceded by its first proper single “I Don’t Know You Anymore.” Bob is backed on the album as ever by his longtime band of Jason Narducy (bass/backing vocals) and Jon Wurster (drums).
As 2014 album of the year front-runner Morning Phase (Capitol) logs its fourth week in the Top 20, two additional dates have been added to Beck’s hotly anticipated spring/summer tour. At press time, Beck’s recently announced dates in New York, Santa Barbara, Tucson, Montreal and Toronto have completely sold out.
Tickets for the two new dates–an April 10 second night at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theater and and additional New York City show June 30 at the Hammerstein Ballroom–go on sale to the public Friday, April 4 at 10 am local time. Pre-sales begin April 2 (see below for details).
In addition to the upcoming live dates, Beck will follow his stunning turns last month on Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with two more appearances on the small screen this month: April 1 on The Ellen Degeneres Show and April 22 on Jimmy Kimmel Live. OnApril 27, Beck will make his return to the venerable Austin City Limits series, taping a performance to air at a later date TBD.
Aside from being the first chance to hear the songs of Morning Phase in the flesh, Beck’s upcoming dates are not be missed–a glance at the reviews of his most recent handful of dates from summer 2013 shows easily puts them among the most enthusiastic raves of his–or anyone’s–career:
“Electrifying… another example of a Beck show that was so good, so special, that if you missed it, you simply missed it. It probably won’t go down like that again.”–THE BOSTON GLOBE
“It seemed downright perverse that a show this good only received two performances – the band had played Boston a couple of nights earlier – but then again, Beck has made a specialty, and a great success, of defying expectations and playing by his own rules.”–THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
“more like a 20 year retrospective on one of the most important artists of our generation rather than just a typical concert… As soon as the first few notes of ‘Devil’s Haircut’ hummed through the speakers, it was as if someone fired a gun in the air. Everyone’s attention was drawn to the stage and it pretty much stayed there for the next two hours.”–THE VILLAGE VOICE
“Defying music-business logic is one of the Californian’s areas or expertise, but it’s also the reason he commands such a devout following, even after more than two decades… and boy, has he covered a lot of ground up to now.”–THE NEW YORK POST

25 million records sold and 30-plus years into her tenure as Pretenders founder and leader, Chrissie Hynde will release Stockholm, the first ever album under her own name, June 10 on Caroline Records in the U.S..
“It’s the first album with my name on it,” Chrissie says. “But it’s not a solo album. In fact, making this album was more of a collaboration than any Pretenders album ever was.”
Recorded at Ingrid Studios in Stockholm with co-writer/guitarist Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John at the helm, the album features contributions from Neil Young, John McEnroe and Joakim Ahlund of the Caesars. 11 tracks of fresh and irreverent rock n roll in Chrissie’s unmistakable voice and style, Stockholm will be heralded by first single “Dark Sunglasses,” which will go out instantly to all pre-orders on April 1. “Dark Sunglasses” is a perfect embodiment of the attitude and aim Chrissie employed in the creation of Stockholm: “I wanted to make a power pop album you could dance to – Abba meets John Lennon.”
Stockholm may not be a solo album but it certainly has the vibe of an energized debut by a vital artist, one who gives voice to the disaffected while celebrating the undeniable power of a classic love song, a night on the dance floor, honest authentic rock n roll and other things that make life worth living. “So much of rock n roll has become what I would call Glory Rock, with family values. It’s the irreverence in rock that was always the turn-on. I disagree with people who say you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously. I think life is serious, and you should take it seriously, but in rock n roll either have a fucking laugh or fuck off.”
A complete track listing for Stockholm is below. For further information, see the links below or contact Steve Martin or Michele Adler at 212 343-0740 or michele@nastylittleman.com.

“It was the band’s first Detroit show in 10 years… and it more than made up for lost time. It was a thorough, fully-realized outing that will be remembered as one of the best concerts of the year.” — DETROIT DAILY NEWS
“You won’t find too many basement parties with a high-tech array of lights and video, an overhead truss paneled with mirrors, a hydraulic satellite stage or, for that matter, the space to accommodate the dozen musicians who beefed up Monday’s proceedings.” — DETROIT FREE PRESS
“The showdown was a reflection of something spontaneous, righteous. and awe-inspiring on every level of imagination, and Arcade Fire delivered the goods, and they did it with style.” — GET OUT LOUISVILLE
“Saturday’s nearly two-hour set proved Arcade Fire might be the most arena-ready band to come out of the hip punk-weaned underground since U2.” — MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE
“Arcade Fire is a sonic wonder and does this whole arena thing with a sly artistic sensibility that you don’t get from any old band.” — PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE
In the midst of the wildly successful and warmly received Reflektor Tour, Arcade Fire are excited to announce that Lost Bayou Ramblers and tUnE-yArDs will be added to dates on the tour’s run though the southern U.S. (see exact dates below).
Barely a week and a half into their colossal globe-spanning Reflektor Tour, Arcade Fire are proving these shows are unlike anything they–or any other artist– has ever staged in an arena setting. Audiences attending the Louisville opener, the massive Minneapolis, Detroit, and Pittsburgh shows, and the completely sold out Toronto blowout have experienced dazzling production featuring multiple stages and captivating visual effects, pre- and post-show dance parties, a sprawling setlist spanning the entire AF catalog, and of course, appearances from the familiar Reflektor bobbleheads.
No two Reflektor Tour shows are alike: Early reports have seen the band shatter the barrier between audience and performer, from red carpet arrivals to joining the audience in pre-show dance competitions. Additionally, Arcade Fire has been paying homage to each city’s musical heritage with exceptional covers of Prince in Minneapolis, Stevie Wonder in Detroit, Constantines in Toronto, and more.
Transforming the biggest arenas in the U.S. and Canada into unique and locally flavored carnivals, Arcade Fire will continue to provide Reflektor Tour revelers with an evening like no other. Showing up early and staying late are recommended. For a full list of remaining dates, support, etc., see below.
