SPOON, THE UNICORNS, OWEN PALLETT TO JOIN VARIOUS REFLEKTOR TOUR SHOWS

Arcade Fire © JF Lalonde (LOW RES)
Arcade Fire © JF Lalonde (LOW RES)

“Arcade Fire was ruthlessly efficient in supplying big-tent indie rock and mating Bruce Springsteen and The Talking Heads… the best arena-rock band to break out of the mid-aughties indie-rock bubble” -ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“From start to finish, the band transformed the Detroit Pistons” home into an arena-sized house party… It was a thorough, fully-realized outing that will be remembered as one of the best concerts of the year.” -DETROIT NEWS

“Saturday”s nearly two-hour set proved Arcade Fire might be the most arena-ready band to come out of the hip punk-weaned underground since U2.” – MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE

“Even a decade ago this band”s music was made to fill arenas… Given new life with Arcade Fire”s larger touring band, each build, piano run and yell felt bigger while at the same time as intimate as it must have when kid-Butler wrote it.” – DENVER POST

“Arcade Fire still knows how to engage and entertain their fans and give them a show they won”t forget.” -KANSAS CITY STAR

“Like art-rock stars Radiohead and R.E.M. before them, Arcade online casino Fire creates a new sonic and aesthetic world every couple years. Nowhere was that more apparent than at Nashville”s enormodome Thursday night.” – NASHVILLE SCENE

Fresh off a historic two-night stand at London”s storied Earl”s Court hailed as “a triumph” (The Independent) and “breathless” (The Telegraph), Arcade Fire has begun confirming support acts for the next leg of the Reflektor Tour.

For the month of August, Arcade Fire”s transformation of the arenas and amphitheaters of North America into multi-stage barrier-shattering carnivals will enlist support from Spoon, The Unicorns, tUnE-yArDs, Constantines and AF collaborator Owen Pallett.

Dan Deacon, whose wild pre-show dance parties helped fuel the Reflektor spirit during the first North American tour leg, will also return for every one of the upcoming dates.

See below for a full listing of tour dates indicating specific support acts. Additional support will be announced as the dates approach.

“LAZARETTO” AND “JUST ONE DRINK” PERFORMANCES FROM THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON HERE

Lazaretto
Lazaretto

“Jack White has made himself a high-concept yet wholehearted restoration of the late-1960s guitar hero: cranked up to distortion, hollering straight from the swamp, hurling riffs like thunderbolts” — THE NEW YORK TIMES

“White’s set was marked by a series of dramatic stops and starts, with the band exceptionally tight in their movements, giving off the impression White must have found the best of the business in Nashville.” — BILLBOARD

“White’s best songs combine his songwriting chops with his boundless charisma, and Lazaretto has both in spades — the swaggeringly funky ‘Three Women’ and the strutting title track are instant classics.” — ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
“Frankly, I don’t know how much is left to say about this man. He’s a master of craft and performance like few others, especially in the modern age.” — CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

The day has finally arrived: Jack White’s new studio album, Lazaretto, is out today in North America on Third Man Records/Columbia. The weeks-long tease of advance tracks from the haunting instrumental “High Ball Stepper,” the intoxicating “Just One Drink” and the searing rave-up title track has mercifully come to an end, with the album now fully available digitally at

iTunes and Amazon. For the physical-format-predisposed, brick and mortar retailers will carry Lazaretto compact discs (also available via Amazon) and ULTRA LP vinyl, which can also be acquired through Third Man Records.

Jack has announced yet another slew of dates on his barely begun, yet already wildly acclaimed, world tour. These new dates include several UK engagements as well as a host of performances in the United States at historic venues ranging from The Newport Folk Festival to The Bleacher Theater at Boston’s famed Fenway Park to Colorado’s breathtaking Red Rocks Amphitheater. Fans are encouraged to consult http://jackwhiteiii.com/tour-dates/ for details and on sale information. These newly announced shows can be found below along with previously unveiled tour stops.

Tonight, NPR Music will provide a video webcast of Jack’s set at the storied Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA. All pertinent information can be found here. Tune into NPR tonight at 9:45pm PST for what promises to be raucously entertaining celebration of Lazaretto‘s release.

Last night, Jack was featured as a musical and talk guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During his time on the Tonight Show stage, Jack peeled the paint off the walls of the Tonight Show studios with two songs from Lazaretto including the title track  and “Just One Drink”.

PRE-SALE LIVE NOW AT iTUNES and AMAZON

They Want My Soul
They Want My Soul

“… after what became Spoon’s longest break, the band members were reinvigorated and excited to play together again. They rediscovered an energy, passion and inspired sound, and you can hear that on They Want My Soul.”-NPR All Songs Considered

Spoon will return with their long awaited eighth offering, They Want My Soul, on August 5 via Loma Vista Recordings.

Preorders for the album-lauded by NPR as “unmistakably a Spoon record, with…fantastically infectious grooves and melodies” — are live now at iTunes and Amazon. An exclusive bundle will be available later this week through the band’s store (at www.spoontheband.com) which features, among other desirous items, a limited edition glow-in-the-dark vinyl LP, a t-shirt and handwritten lyric sheets. The first 100 bundle orders will receive an autographed set of lyric sheets. All preorders placed through iTunes and www.spoontheband.com come with an instant download of the album’s lead-off track “Rent I Pay.”

The band has also filmed an unofficial video for They Want My Soul’s “Rent I Pay.” This initial visual offering can be viewed at YouTube.

Britt Daniel and Jim Eno recently talked with Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton for NPR’s All Songs Considered about the recording process behind the record and its sonic elements. The All Songs Considered segment is currently streaming here.

Yesterday afternoon Spoon took to the stage at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge for a live world premiere performance of “Rent I Pay” for NPR’s First Listen Live. The punchy swagger of “Rent I Pay” in its live unveiling was met with a wildly enthusiastic reception from the privileged few to make it into the intimate venue. For everyone who couldn’t, the performance is streaming now on NPR.

Last weekend, Spoon kicked off a North American festival tour at the Governors Ball festival in New York City. This tour will include appearances at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and the Austin City Limits Music Festival among a host of others. Additionally, the band will headline the special event “They Want My Soul” on the Fairbanks Lawn at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on August 8. PAUL McCARTNEY JUNE DATES RE-SCHEDULED TO OCTOBER

OUT THERE TOUR TO RESUME JULY 5 IN ALBANY

“I’m sorry but it’s going to be a few more weeks before we get rocking in America again. I’m feeling great but taking my docs’ advice to take it easy for just a few more days.  Look forward to seeing you all soon.”-Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has confirmed that he will, however reluctantly, heed medical advice to rest up just a bit longer to fully recuperate from the virus that forced the postponement of his recent dates in Japan and Korea.

The Out There world tour will now resume July 5 in Albany, NY, and the June 14-26 shows in Lubbock, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Nashville and Louisville have been rescheduled to October. Tickets for the original June dates will been honored for the new dates detailed below.

The Out There tour, as always, features music from the most beloved catalog in popular music, as Paul performs songs spanning his entire career — as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle. The set list will also include material from Paul’s most recent studio album NEW, a global hit upon its release last year.

The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity; in just three hours some of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music are relived; music which for many has shaped the very soundtrack of their lives. The last decade has seen Paul and his band perform in a staggeringly impressive range of venues and locations, including outside the Coliseum in Rome, in Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, at the White House, a free show in Mexico to over 400,000 people, and even broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul’s band of the last 10+ years — Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) — the show never disappoints.

The tour also uses state of the art technology and production to ensure the entire audience has the best possible experience. With massive screens, lasers, fireworks, unique video content and, of course, the best songs in the world, a Paul McCartney show is so much more than just an ordinary concert. Paul’s shows attract a multi generational audience from different backgrounds all brought together by his music.

Keep checking PaulMcCartney.com for further announcements.

BOB MOULD PREMIERES VIDEO FOR “I DON’T KNOW YOU ANYMORE” ON FUNNY OR DIE

NEW STUDIO ALBUM BEAUTY & RUIN OUT TODAY

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR ANNOUNCED WITH FULL BAND

IDKYA © Alicia J. Rose
IDKYA © Alicia J. Rose

“When he comes back to his sweet spot…few are better at making smart, hooky rock. The title stands in complete contrast to the joy of blasting the song full volume, and getting the feeling that Mould knows himself better than ever.” – NPR MORNING EDITION

“The former Sugar and Hüsker Dü frontman sounds fully invigorated here…Mould rips through 12 bristling guitar-pop tracks that, at their propulsive and tuneful best, recall the classic eras of his much-loved former bands.” – ROLLING STONE

“It doesn’t feel like a stretch to say Beauty & Ruin scrapes the same eight-miles-high stratosphere as his best work with Hüsker Dü, Sugar, and under his own name…vital music from a living legend – a master class in the sort of gleaming, guitar-powered alt-rock that Mould helped to invent.” – STEREOGUM

“Mould captures both hope and despair well here, raging like he did in his Hüsker Dü days…irresistibly catchy as anything from Sugar’s heyday… Mould continues to grow artistically beyond his already legendary past.” – NEWSDAY

Yesterday, Bob Mould premiered the fantastic new video for “I Don’t Know You Anymore” on Funny or Die. In the video directed by Alicia J. Rose, Bob is joined by bandmates Jason Narducy and Jon Wurster as they scheme to develop an effective marketing strategy for his new single with some inspiration from The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy. FOO FIGHTERS AS YET UNTITLED EIGHTH ALBUM CONFIRMED FOR NOVEMBER RELEASE ON ROSWELL/RCA

FIRST PEEK AT HBO DOCUMENTARY SERIES FOO FIGHTERS: SONIC HIGHWAYS LIVE NOW AT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-z8A9P5ziA

“This is a musical map of America.”-Dave Grohl

Viewers watching the 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony this weekend on HBO were treated to a surprise teaser preview of the new HBO series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways. The sneak peek-now viewable at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-z8A9P5ziA –features an exclusive Dave Grohl mission statement accompanied by the first passage of music to be unveiled from the as-yet-untitled eighth FF album — out November on Roswell/RCA — and a fleeting glimpse of the HBO series documenting the eight-city odyssey of the record’s creation.

“I’ve pulled up the family tree of American music and exposed its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album,” says Grohl of the band’s most ambitious effort to date. Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear tapped into the musical heritage and cultural fabric of each of these cities — Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington DC — basing themselves at a legendary studio integral to the unique history and character of each location. One song was recorded in each city, all featuring local legends sitting in, with every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews for the HBO series, and other local personalities who became part of the process.

If Grohl’s 2013 feature film directorial debut, the universally acclaimed Grammy-winning Sound City, was a celebration of the human element in the creation and recording of music, Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways is, in its director’s words, “a chronicling of a journey to unravel the fabric of our musical identity… not only the making of our most ambitious album… this is Sound City on steroids.” Each episode delves into the singular regional identity of each city, how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns. Dave’s unequaled passion for both the music he creates and the music that inspires its creation once again fuels the type of honest and trusting musician-to-musician exchange that made Sound City a critical and commercial smash.

Premiering on the eve of Foo Fighters 20th anniversary, Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways aims to “give back” to the next generation of young musicians. As interviewee Buddy Guy puts it, “Everything comes from what’s come before.”

Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways premieres this fall on HBO. For further information and updates, including where and when the series will be broadcast outside the U.S., sign up at http://foofighters.com.

Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways is directed by Dave Grohl for Roswell Films, a division of Roswell Records, the label that releases Foo Fighters’ music; written by Mark Monroe and Dave Grohl. Executive produced by Dave Grohl, James A. Rota, John Ramsay. The series is produced for HBO by Roswell Films and Therapy Content, in association with Worldwide Pants.

20,000 DAYS ON EARTH JOINS NICK CAVE ON HIS SUMMER 2014 CONCERT TOUR

Nick Cave will perform at a trio of exclusive events this summer in conjunction with advance screenings of 20,000 Days on Earth, the groundbreaking new film on the iconic rock legend, and winner of two awards at the Sundance Film Festival.

Drafthouse Films, the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Canadian distributor, filmswelike, have announced special advance screenings of 20,000 Days On Earth — the lyrical and inventive documentary on musician Nick Cave — to coincide with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds” North American Summer 2014 tour before its wider, traditional theatrical release this September. In association with Goldenvoice, three eventized screenings will take place at The American Cinematheque”s Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles (July 10), The Phi Centre in Montreal (August 1) and The French Institute Alliance Francais” Florence Gould Hall in New York City (August 4). Each of these screenings will be followed by a conversation with the rock legend himself, during which Cave — in a rare solo piano performance — will play a number of songs from his extensive catalog.

The rest of the advance screenings will take place in many of the same nationwide cities as Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds” Summer 2014 tour, offering his fans the unique opportunity to watch the Sundance-winning film months before the release. As a nod of appreciation to his fans, pre-sale tickets to these exclusive advance screenings will first be made available to those on Nick Cave”s mailing list and website, nickcave.com/live starting this Thursday, June 5th — 24 hours prior to the general public on Friday.

“I am among many who consider Nick Cave the unofficial poet laureate of the modern age,” says Drafthouse Films founder Tim League. “I am personally excited we are able to integrate screening this bold and riveting portrait of an artist with a series of musical performances by Nick for a truly unique experience.”

Fusing cinematic drama with reality by weaving a fictitious 24-hour journey through the life of musician and international cultural icon Nick Cave, the film is an intimate portrayal of the artistic process that speaks volumes to music fans, the art community and movie lovers alike. The debut directorial feature film of visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, the film — which opens theatrically on September 17, 2014 — is set to an original score by Nick Cave and fellow Bad Seeds band mate Warren Ellis.

With startlingly frank insights and an intimate portrayal of the artistic process, the genre-defying film examines what makes us who we are, and celebrates the transformative power of the creative spirit. The film made its World Premiere at this year”s Sundance Film Festival, where it was awarded both “Best Directing” and “Best Editing” Awards in the World Cinema Documentary category.
Andrew O”Hehir of Salon.com calls it “gorgeous and haunting…an unclassifiable and frequently spectacular documentary.” Rob Nelson of Variety says “simply astounding, razor sharp, dynamic” while Michael Dunaway of Paste Magazine proclaims, “just spending an hour and a half or so inside the mind of Nick Cave would be fascinating enough. But the themes of time and lifetime, and the 20,000-day take on it, make this one a must-see.”

More information on the special screenings can be found at nickcave.com/live.
