BECK’S MORNING PHASE DEBUTS AT #3

FIRST WEEK SALES OF NEARLY 90,000

MARCH 12 ON THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON

APRIL 1 ON THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW

Beck1_PeterHapak_HI© Peter Hapak

“a triumphant return… a rare pleasure”—ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“The record’s beauty approaches slowly, floats, surrounds and shuts off external awareness in the brain stem.”—THE NEW YORK TIMES

“gracefully, gradually unfolds like the sweetest of sunrises”—PEOPLE

“an instant folk-rock classic… Morning Phase’s struggle toward the light feels as personal as it does universal.”—ROLLING STONE

“a companion to 2002’s Sea Change… Morning Phase conjures the cosmic folk and poetic beauty of that breakup breakthrough with even better results… The mercurial artist has drifted through a variety of intriguing phases, but none as hypnotic or revealing as Morning Phase.”—USA TODAY

Beck’s Morning Phase (Capitol) has entered the US albums chart at #3, selling over 87,000 copies in the week since its February 25 release.

Morning Phase‘s first week tally bests the 84,314 opening week of Beck’s previous album, Modern Guilt, despite the market being down over 70% since that record’s 2008 release.

Morning Phase also debuted #2 in Canada, #4 in the UK, #5 in Australia, Switzerland and The Netherlands, and #8 in New Zealand–all representing Beck’s highest chart positions ever in each country, with the exception of Canada where Morning Phase ties the #2 peak position of 2005’s Guero.

Beck will follow up last week’s triumphant return to Saturday Night Live where he debuted “Blue Moon” and “Wave” on national television with a March 12 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and an April 1 performance on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

About the B612 Foundation

The mission of the B612 Foundation is to create the first comprehensive and dynamic map of the inner solar system to provide early warning of dangerous asteroid impacts as well as prepare the path for future exploration. To be launched in 2018, Sentinel will be the world’s first and largest privately funded deep space mission. To date, all telescopes combined have identified only 10% of the more than one million asteroids which we need to know about to protect us; Sentinel will find the other 99%. Ball Aerospace is designing Sentinel with the same expert team that built the Spitzer and Kepler Space Telescopes.

TAYLOR HAWKINS, WILEY HODGDEN & MICK MURPHY ARE THE BIRDS OF SATAN

http://youtu.be/yZR2w157jIg

DEBUT ALBUM OUT APRIL 15 ON SHANABELLE RECORDS

PRE-ORDER LIVE NOW AT http://smarturl.it/birdsofsatan FEATURING INSTANT DOWNLOAD OF “THANKS FOR THE LINE”

Taylor Hawkins, Wiley Hodgden and Mick Murphy a/k/a The Birds Of Satan will release their self-titled debut album April 15 on Shanabelle Records. Recorded in less than a week’s worth of whirlwind sessions and preceded by a recently unveiled promo trailer http://youtu.be/yZR2w157jIg, the record is now available for pre-order at http://smarturl.it/birdsofsatan, with all pre-orders instantly receiving the track “Thanks For The Line.”

For anyone asking who/what/why are The Birds Of The Satan… Well, there may or may not be a clue in the lyrics of the instant grat track “Thanks For The Line,” but as to the musical nature of this beast: That question is answered in short order by the album’s opening manifesto, the near-10-minute “The Ballad of the Birds of Satan,” which progresses from a typically frenetic Hawkins drum salvo into an outright heavy-prog epic concluding with an undeniable boogie groove. The previously mentioned “Thanks For The Line” and the straight up hard rocker “Pieces Of The Puzzle” showcase the Birds’ unabashed (some might say shameless) love of Rock & Roll flash and grandeur, with Hawkins in fine vocal and drumming form (also contributing piano) aided and abetted by a magnetic chemistry with Hodgden’s bass and Murphy’s guitar. Elsewhere, sublime ballads “Raspberries” and the somber finale “Too Far Gone To See” showcase additional emotional dimensions of The Birds Of Satan sound-and if that gets too heavy, the listener can always skip back to “Wait Til Tomorrow” for the first documented recorded Van Halen style guitar solo of this decade.

The Birds Of Satan are Taylor Hawkins (vocals, drums, piano, guitar, keyboards), Wiley Hodgden (bass, background vocals), and Mick Murphy (guitar). Guest musicians on the eponymous album include Dave Grohl (guitar), Pat Smear (guitar), Drew Hester (percussion), and Rami Jaffee (keyboards), among others. The Birds Of Satan was produced and engineered by John Lousteau and mixed by Drew Hester. The complete track listing is as follows:

The Ballad of the Birds of Satan
Thanks for the Line
Pieces Of The Puzzle
Raspberries
Nothing at All
Wait Til Tomorrow
Too Far Gone to See

THE LONG GOODBYE: LCD SOUNDSYSTEM LIVE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN FAREWELL CONCERT TO BE RELEASED IN ITS ENTIRETY

WARNER BROS. TO ISSUE JAMES MURPHY-PRODUCED 5-LP VINYL APRIL 19 FOR RECORD STORE DAY, FOLLOWED BY MAY 20 WIDE RELEASE IN VINYL & DIGITAL FORMATS

The final coda of the LCD Soundsystem saga will arrive this Record Store Day, April 19, when Warner Bros. releases The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden, a 5-LP vinyl unabridged recording of LCD Soundsystem’s near four-hour April 2, 2011 farewell show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. On May 20th, this vinyl box set will hit retailers en masse and will be released digitally as well. Full tracklist below.

Produced and mixed by LCD founder and frontman James Murphy, The Long Goodbye is the ultimate audio document of LCD Soundsystem’s now legendary final show. The album’s exclusive mix brings new life to every note of music played during the epic MSG show–including of course the performances featured in the acclaimed film Shut Up and Play The Hits, which chronicled the concert while painting an intimate portrait of Murphy navigating its lead-up and aftermath.

Hailed by New York magazine as “a marvel of pure craft” and Rolling Stone as a “staggeringly great night,” The Long Goodbye show was the lengthiest, most career-spanning set LCD Soundsystem would ever play. The album captures Murphy and company going out on top and on their own terms: with the ultimate LCD live performance in both senses of the word. On The Long Goodbye, the LCD core live band of Murphy, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang, Al Doyle, Gavin Russom, Tyler Pope and Matt Thornley is augmented by a choir, string and horn sections plus contributions from both one-time-only special guests and many of the musicians with whom the band has worked over the years for incredible final performances including “North American Scum” with guest vocals from Arcade Fire, “All My Friends,” “I Can Change,” “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House,” “Someone Great,” a full performance of “45:33” featuring Reggie Watts, an epic version of the song that started it all “Losing My Edge” (which can be seen here: http://youtu.be/HmrOHxS_cK0), and literally hours more.

2014 SXSW SHOWS ANNOUNCED

Mould_Bob_Workbook_25_OV-36

When the intense and inhumanly prolific career of the legendary Hüsker Dü went supernova in 1988, Bob Mould all but went into self-imposed exile.

Mould would re-emerge the following year with his first solo album-the incredibly impassioned and personal Workbook.

Today, Omnivore Recordings commemorates the 25th anniversary of this iconic work with the deluxe 2-CD 2-LP Workbook 25. In addition to the original album’s 11 tracks, the first CD adds “All Those People Know,” originally issued as the B-side of the single “See A Little Light.” The second CD is Bob’s complete 1989 performance at Chicago’s Cabaret Metro. 13 of the 17 tracks are previously unissued from this mythical show, which features music from the then two-week old Workbook, as well as Hüsker Dü favorites and a cover of Richard & Linda Thompson’s classic “Shoot Out The Lights.” The reissue is also available in a 2-LP vinyl edition which includes “All Those People Know” as well.

The previously announced “25 Years of Workbook”  tour kicks off with a set February 27 at the Noise Pop festival in San Francisco and a six-date run of select, intimate dates where Bob, along with long-time bassist Jason Narducy and cellist Alison Chesley who played on Last Dog and Pony Show, will be performing selections from Workbook as well as other songs in his catalog that sit nicely alongside this album. They will also be stopping by Austin, TX for sets at the Merge Records Showcase and The A.V. Club day party during SXSW.

Additionally, Bob will be returning to The Late Show with David Letterman on March 6th to continue the anniversary celebration.
