Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to Play SXSW: NPR Music Showcase at Stubb’s

North American Tour in Support of Push The Sky Away to Begin March 13 in Austin

We are pleased to announce that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will be kicking off their 2013 North American tour at SXSW on Wednesday, March 13th. Cave and company will perform this year’s NPR showcase at Stubb’s, supporting their 15th studio album, Push The Sky Away (out Feb 19th on Bad Seed Ltd).

On Tuesday, 12th March, in conjunction with his SXSW performance, SXSW Film and Music will host Nick Cave in Conversation with New York based author Larry Ratso Sloman. Sloman’s numerous collaborators include Howard Stern, David Blaine, magic historian William Kalush and Anthony Kiedis of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, with whom he worked on the memoir Scar Tissue. Sloman also wrote an account of Bob Dylan’s 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour, On the Road with Bob Dylan, and penned Reefer Madness, a history of marijuana use in the United States.

Nick Cave is an internationally acclaimed author, composer, screenwriter and actor. In recent years, Cave wrote the screenplays for The Proposition and Lawless, while he and Warren Ellis scored The Proposition and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Road. The two more recently presented the Lawless soundtrack featuring Cave/Ellis originals and classic compositions performed by The Bootleggers and the likes of Ralph Stanley, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and more.

This conversation between the two prolific creative forces of Cave and Sloman is not to be missed.

The aforementioned Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds tour is nearly completely sold out in advance. See below for a full list of dates. In the meantime, head to the Cave’s website, where “Jubilee Street” from Push The Sky Away is now streaming.  The album’s first single “We No Who U R” is available now.

The Postal Service to Reunite in 2013

Give Up (Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition) Out in April via Sub Pop

Featuring Two Never Before Released Songs

Deluxe edition available on April 8 in UK & Europe and April 9 in North America

Watch “Such Great Heights” here

Sub Pop is thrilled to share the news that The Postal Service, the much-beloved, long-distance collaboration between Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, will reunite this spring to celebrate the 10th anniversary and deluxe edition reissue of their universally acclaimed release, Give Up.  The Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition will include the original 10-track album along with 15 bonus tracks (including the 2 brand new songs “Turn Around” and “A Tattered Line of String,” a previously unreleased live recording, and every other official recording the band has ever released–as well as cover versions of Postal Service classics by The Shins and Iron & Wine) and was mastered by Grammy nominated engineers Emily Lazar and Joe Laporte. Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition will be available as a 2xCD, 3xLP and digitally on April 8 in the UK and Europe and April 9 in North America via Sub Pop. A very limited “Loser” edition of the 3xLP will be pressed on colored vinyl. Please find a complete tracklisting below.

The release of the Give Up Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition will also be commemorated by the first live Postal Service dates in a decade. Shows will be announced as they are confirmed. Check http://www.postalservicemusic.net/ for further details as they become available.

Give Up was certified platinum last year just shy of 10 years from its original February 9, 2003 release. Led by the single “Such Great Heights,” the landmark album peaked at #114 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and has sold 1,067, 087 copies in the US to date. After Nirvana’s BleachGive Up is the second-biggest selling album in Sub Pop’s nearly 25-year history.

Give Up, which Entertainment Weekly called a “near-perfect” album, is the first and only full-length by The Postal Service. The album received 2003 year-end praise from an array of publications, including SPINRolling Stone and theVillage Voice “Pazz & Jop” critics’ poll. Give Up also earned “Best of the Decade” status from Pitchfork, NPR, Complex,Paste, Under the Radar, and more.

Both Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello (as Dntel) recorded albums in 2012: Gibbard’s solo outing, Former Lives, was released via Barsuk Records last October; Dntel’s Aimlessness was released this past June on Pampa Records.

About The Postal Service:

You can spend all the time and money in the world trying to craft the perfect pop-music scenario, but sometimes the stars have to align all by themselves. Even though early on the members of The Postal Service jokingly referred to “Such Great Heights” as “the hit” on their debut album, Give Up, there’s no way anyone could have predicted the eventual impact made by a mail-order album designed in a pair of West Coast bedrooms. It’s been 10 years since the little project that could from Seattelite Ben Gibbard (also known as Death Cab For Cutie’s frontman) and Angeleno Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel, Figurine) emerged from seemingly nowhere and began to burrow its way into the ears of anyone who came into contact with the band’s infectious electro-pop (read more at Sub Pop).

ELECTRIC GUEST UNVEIL BRAND NEW VIDEO ON MTV

“THE BAIT” TO BE PERFORMED ON CONAN JANUARY 23RD

Electric Guest’s Asa Taccone’s quirky dance moves have always been a highlight of their videos like the epic “This Head I Hold”– not to mention the band’s frenetic live performances. Now, with their latest music video for single “The Bait”, Taccone takes his trademark moves to a whole new level. The video is an homage to Lars Von Trier’s film “Dogville” also inspired by the US’ 1929 financial crisis. Shot in Paris and directed by Jonas & Francois, “The Bait” sees a vagabond Taccone and his Electric Guestpartner drummer Matthew Compton in an intricate dance number choreographed by the French duo I Could Never Be A Dancer.

Point your browser here to view http://www.mtvu.com/music/electric-guest-goes-broadway-in-the-bait

Additionally, the video will air across all other MTV platforms including MTVU, MTV2 and MTV Hits throughout the day.

Enjoy the video? Be sure to tune in on January 23rd to watch the band performing “The Bait” during its Conan debut.

Electric Guest is comprised of Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton plus a supporting cast of live players. The band began in earnest when Asa’s brother introduced him via phone to Danger Mouse, sparking a musical relationship that developed organically into Danger Mouse producing the 10 songs that were unveiled to the world in April 2012 as Mondo. Since then Electric Guest has toured relentlessly, been hailed by MTV as an Artist to Watch, been nominated for an MTVu Woodie, and had its praises sung by ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY (“Winking falsetto and retro swagger… the best new micro-genre of the season”), FILTER (“infectious”), NYLON (“for a quick Friday night pump-up… turn up the volume”),  TIME OUT NEW YORK (“exquisitely catchy retropop. The band is quickly moving toward mainstream status… catch them while you can”), BLACKBOOK (“it’s rare that you come across an unknown band with such raw, unbridled talent and well-constructed songs… you’ll understand that this may be the beginning of something truly great”), MTV BUZZWORTHY (“Electric Guest stormed out of L.A. this year with a sound that’s both Motown classic and electro fresh on their debut album… Clear off your desk, you’re going to need some room to move.”) and scores more.

JACK WHITE in All New Serious Jibber-Jabber With Conan O’Brien

Now Exclusively Online at
http://teamcoco.com/video/serious-jibber-jabber-04-jack-white

First ever Jibber-Jabber shot entirely on 35mm film with Panavision cameras

Captured by Panavision Cameras shooting entirely on 35mm film, the fourth installment of Serious Jibber-Jabber with Conan O’Brien, features a candid 75-minute chat with Jack White in a cigarillo smoke filled room.

Serious Jibber-Jabber with Conan O’Brien gives the host an opportunity to take the conversation beyond the time constraints of a broadcast talk show and delve into areas not usually discussed on air.  The interview allows O’Brien and White to have the type of conversation they have not had time to touch on during White’s twelve appearances on O’Brien’s various broadcast shows.

This episode features topics ranging from the time O’Brien and White first met in Detroit, to the relationship between music and comedy, to the importance of not taking the easy way out on any project.  The latter topic is on full display with this one-time use of 35mm film as opposed to standard digital cameras.

Born the youngest of ten children, raised in Southwest Detroit and a resident of Nashville since 2005, Jack White is one of the most prolific and renowned artists of the past fifteen years. In 2009, Jack White opened the doors to his very own record label, Third Man Records, where he has since produced and released more than 120 records in less than three years.

On April 24, 2012 White released his debut album Blunderbuss on Third Man Records/Columbia. Blunderbuss debuted at #1 on the U.S. albums chart–Jack’s first ever recorded effort to do so–and was the highest charting solo debut and biggest selling vinyl album of 2012 in the U.S.. Supported by a world tour met with equal fervor, Blunderbuss also hit #1 in the UK, Canada and Switzerland, and more recently received a GRAMMY nomination for the night’s top honor, Album of the Year as well as Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song Freedom at 21.
